We initially wanted to get a barebones ios and android app put together with design work so that we could plug our inhouse buily learning/therapeutic activities into it. Our inhouse technical knowledge is on cloud infrastrucure and shader research and didn't want to deal with the mobile development.

I mean they developed the barebones app as requested and then went WAYYY beyond the scope of work agreed and really brought it to life. We had some extremely productive sessions and the main engineer assigned to us, Fernando, went above and beyond delivering things we hadn't even considered, all our in app activities were enriched so much thanks ot his input.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Communication was always fine, a couple of checkpoints were probably a little (and I mean a very little) behind schedule BUT when delivered had exceeded expectations massively so it's hard to begrudge that. Nothing was late to the point of it being a problem.

We get on well I think personally as well as professionally but the very best part for us has been Fernando the engineer. He takes all our jumbled feedback, stuff where I couldn't even tell you what I was talking about an hour after saying it, and managed to cut through the mess and delivered the vision exceptionally every time. He's a Superstar (note the captial S).

Are there any areas for improvement or something Black Widow Tech could have done differently?

Frankly they exceeded expectations in all areas so no. Maybe they could relocate to Dublin to better align timezones ;).

I’m the founder, CEO, and part-owner of Felted Global, a competition entertainment production company. We haven’t launched yet, but we’re in the initial phases of closing our B round. We’re seeking $15 million, which we should close by March 2026. Once we close that round, we’ll have 28 employees.

We needed help launching our company, which included web hosting, web design, and other tasks. We also needed a mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Black Widow Tech has been helping us with mobile app design and development. Since we've started the process of building the app, we’ve had multiple Zoom calls with Tahir. One of my employees has been working with Black Widow Tech on the app’s architectural workflow and the necessary steps to start building the app. We’ve had Friday Zoom meetings to see the different iterations of the app and how it’s moving forward. I’ve been chiming in with my two cents as we’ve developed the app’s vision.

The app will be for iOS and Android. It started off as a simple product, but it has become more robust. It’s being featured in our quest for funding. We’ve gotten approval from Apple and filed all the papers with Android. The app is now parked along with our website. The company has been completely built, and the value proposition has been articulated from my side. We’re now actively seeking sponsorship dollars. 

Additionally, Black Widow Tech has introduced AI technology into the project. I want to be able to host 1,000 videos and have a repository where someone can type in a particular person’s name and pull up those exact videos. The app will have real-time voting capabilities and immediate acknowledgment of votes being counted. We want full transparency for our members because they get to vote on contestants for a reality show.

How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?

We have a dear friend who owns a technology company. When we discussed our needs, we told him we needed a mobile app. He highly recommended Black Widow Tech. Since this person is a lifelong friend and business acquaintance of my two partners, we didn't go outside of his recommendation. 

I contacted Tahir and met with him. I laid out my vision of the architectural structure from a high-level overview of my needs, and he came back with an amazing insight into what he could do for us and provided me with the scope of work we would need. 

I was concerned with reaching down, pulling the brakes, and considering a new direction because, when you're launching a new company with two verticals that have been done before, there's always the complexity of things evolving. In Black Widow Tech, I found that they were just as malleable as we were, as far as the creative side.

The scope of work was a little less than $90,000. As the project has evolved, the investment has grown to slightly below $220,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I don’t have KPIs, but the quality of Black Widow Tech’s work is remarkable. Everything I’ve asked for and every part of my and my partners' vision of combining the entertainment and poker industry is there. We’re building a show that will be sold to Amazon, Netflix, or Paramount Plus. The project will have a shelf life of 8–15 years. I’m 100% satisfied with its current state.

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been ahead of budget and ahead of time. Everything has been extremely transparent. I have direct access to Tahir 24/7. We also use emails, phone calls, and Zoom calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Black Widow Tech has been extremely malleable. The quality of their work has been nothing short of perfection. They’ve introduced AI into the project, which will dramatically change and enhance the app.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing they need to improve; they’ve delivered exactly what I’ve needed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Meet with Tahir as quickly as possible. He was kind enough to come meet me in Austin, and he saw my vision of the company. In doing so, it completely changed the direction of the project because I got a collaborative partner. If I can figure out how to get everyone in the room on the same page about my vision, then that can grow exponentially. Tahir has brought so many things to the table that I didn't even know we were capable of.

We needed support with custom software development for AI integration.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had an idea for an AI product for an industry vertical we're in and sat down with Black Widow Tech to provide them with our requirements. The team has helped us select the AI products that would help us achieve our goals and architect the product. Black Widow Tech writes the product's code, including the frontend. The product is in beta testing and should be in version one by next month. Black Widow Tech uses Whisper and several other AI products to meet our needs.

Our product's purpose is the transcription and digitization of calls. Black Widow Tech has set up a feature that transcribes calls, and after the call is dictated, the recording is tied to the transcription. Users can click on a particular word to go to that point of the recording and vice versa.

We work with Black Widow Tech's head of development and an AI specialist. I'm unsure how many teammates work on our project besides them.

We found Black Widow Tech through a third-party vendor.

Black Widow Tech's work quality exceeds our minimum needs. Particularly, the call recording and transcription feature the team has developed is far above what we anticipated and a feature I really liked. 

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We have monthly deadlines, and Black Widow Tech always meets them. The team delivers work on budget and communicates via Slack through a dedicated channel we've set up. Black Widow Tech uses Lucidchart, Flow for documentation, and GitHub for code repository.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I want to give a shout-out to our developer, who has done a wonderful job being flexible with our new product. We've changed direction several times, and they've adapted to what we need and delivered on time.

Black Widow Tech has done several things we didn't think about, and we're impressed with their work.

I can't think of anything for the team to improve right off the top of my head.

I'm the founder and CEO of Real Estate 3.0, LLC. We're a startup working on a mobile app for real estate agents.

I needed support to create an AI mobile app for real estate agents. I previously had a couple of attempts to build the app from scratch working with a different company. I also attempted to buy a product abandoned by a different company and repurpose it. I tried different avenues of development over the last three years, and none of them got off the ground.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Black Widow Tech started by developing a piece of the project to validate our relationship, which went well, and then proceeded to the complete development of the solution. The team has taken my requirements of creating a mobile app that enables ChatGPT to assist real estate agents in creating content on the fly. 

For instance, an agent trying to sell a client's house can use the app to generate content for listing descriptions, social media posts, or brochures with a few inputs. The app has eight outputs users can create leveraging ChatGPT. 

Black Widow Tech has completed a cross-platform app for iOS and Android and is finalizing the process of publishing it in application stores. The app has been approved and tested and meets all the standards. The team is working on some tweaks Apple has requested.

I interact directly with two teammates from Black Widow Tech, including Tahir (CEO). I also work with an offshore engineer with a team of developers responsible for the app's coding, testing, QA, and app store launch. 

How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?

I found Black Widow Tech through an online search. After the failed attempts to build the app, I did a more comprehensive search online. I came across numerous references online and identified several of their websites. I reached out to Black Widow Tech and began conversations to understand their capabilities, and then I met with Tahir in person.

I liked what I saw and heard about Black Widow Tech when I met Tahir and that he was located in the Dallas area. I trusted him as an individual and checked some references.

We've spent roughly $50,000 on this project.

We began working with Black Widow Tech in August 2023, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I measure the product's success by its responsiveness and performance. I also consider the app's ability to navigate different nuances in implementing ChatGPT and align with dependent technologies. Black Widow Tech has ensured the app has a payment model and can interact with Google and Apple. The full scope of services is a key point, and the product functions properly and has a good UX. The app responds as expected, and the content works the way I want it to. 

Black Widow Tech handles bugs exceptionally well. There haven't been any surprises, and the team often discovers issues before me. Black Widow Tech is proactive in letting me know about issues, and almost every time, the team works on a solution before they contact me, which is very impressive and appreciated. Whenever I've discovered an issue, Black Widow Tech responds quickly and takes responsibility. 

The team approaches our relationship as a partnership and ensures the product works as I want it to and not necessarily as I put it on paper and give them specs for. I'm pleased with the customer experience and the product.

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We measure the project's success primarily based on budget and time. Black Widow Tech is hitting the deliverables which is extremely important for me. Another important aspect is their flexibility and ability to change direction and respond to my input and direction — these are the top criteria I use to measure success in our relationship. Black Widow Tech delivers work on time and on budget and handles change responsibly and on time.

We have regular weekly status meetings on Zoom and are in contact via email 2–3 times a week. The team is very accommodating to our time zone differences. We work well together and are respectful of our time zone difference. We take advantage of the time zone difference with the development team to communicate issues. I communicate with Tahir during the day, and he can forward issues to the team. I can see the results by the next morning that I can test.

I also communicate with Tahir through phone calls, and he responds quickly since he's in my area. He even has answered his phone on Sundays. We don't use a project management tool; instead, we use spreadsheets and status reports to keep track of the project.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

I have over 30 years of experience in large-scale development efforts and IT outsourcing. I've worked with offshore resources and in various dynamics and working relationships. Tahir and his lead engineer serve their roles exceptionally well. 

The offshore engineer is extremely professional since working with offshore resources can be challenging. He documents all work and ensures clarity and understanding between us. He offers good follow-up and is very enjoyable to work with, having a high level of confidence. 

On the other hand, Tahir is equally competent and started the business side of our relationship very well. He has the ability to interact and intervene whenever there are conflicts or challenges we've had to work through, either in conflicting priorities or resources. Tahir can navigate every challenge that has come up really well. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Black Widow Tech's professionalism and approach to the relationship stand out the most. The team has strong technical competency, and there hasn't been anything they can't do that I've thrown their way. Black Widow Tech is honest if they don't have expertise in the requirements I want to try. The team is transparent about their capabilities, and if they're gonna miss a deadline, they're proactive in telling me. 

Black Widow Tech has instilled a tremendous amount of trust, and I can't speak highly enough about that. I'm impressed with how Black Widow Tech is always looking out for new technologies and development challenges in the industry. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Black Widow Tech has performed at a high level, and if I were to take it to a higher level, it would be in their ability to pack up their services in a more sophisticated manner and put forward a more structured package capability. I'm considering my experiences with large-scale development projects. If Black Widow Tech wants to start moving into that higher level of enterprise capability, I'd say they can improve the sophistication in which they present their capabilities.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I recommend that potential clients be clear about what they're looking for. Early on, I discovered that Black Widow Tech was good at bringing ideas, but before that, we talked a lot about my being open to their proposals. I made it clear to the team that I was looking for a team that could look out for my best interest and not just execute what I told them. 

I can only ask for things I have context for, and if I have previous experiences with specific practices and ask a vendor to do it that way, that is only based on my knowledge and experience and not on the experts' experience. I leaned heavily on the team to ensure they were counseling me in a proactive and productive fashion. Black Widow Tech was comfortable working with me in any way I wanted to. I asked the team to be proactive and involved in the process, and they've raised to the occasion. 

My recommendation for prospects wanting to work with Black Widow Tech is to get clarity about how they want to work with the team because they can work under different approaches.

Black Widow Tech has designed and developed our mobile app. We've had meetings with the development team, who has developed our product using Java. We have reviewed the app several times before finishing Black Widow Tech launched it on the Google Play Store and App Store. The app allows users to log activities every day. 

Users can log their workouts, practices, and phone calls and add colleges to save them through our research directory. The app also has a video library where users can learn different techniques about the college recruiting process.

I've worked closely with Tahir, who does a great job managing the project. He's available throughout the day, and I can message him anytime. We've formed a relationship outside of this project because he's near my area.

Black Widow Tech works with a lot of transparency. Although the team has a lot of customers, I feel like I'm their only client. We have a real relationship, and Black Widow Tech does an excellent job of connecting on a personal level. We'll continue to work together and have a long-term partnership.

I suggest being on the top of your test flight because it's not Black Widow Tech's responsibility to test the app to see if it meets your standards. The team takes your input, and it's common for clients to think the vendor will test the app and fix things. Our project has turned out so well because my team has tested the app and given feedback to Black Widow Tech. We're guiding the team instead of waiting for Black Widow Tech to fix bugs and be reactive when something goes wrong.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, I met with Black Widow Tech's project manager to outline the project schedule and discuss what I wanted for the app. Then, Black Widow Tech created a business requirement document using Google Docs and started the ideation process. The team designed the app's screens in Figma and built a prototype after several brainstorming sessions to get the final prototype. We hired them to develop a web app and a mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Black Widow Tech has designed and developed a web app and a mobile app for our edtech platform. Initially, we had a couple of meetings when we told the team what we wanted and went back and forth about the look and feel. 

From there, Black Widow Tech created mock-ups based on our requirements and what they thought would work. The first two didn’t match what we wanted, and we approved the fourth one. At first, their mock-ups weren’t specific to the African market, so we guided them towards what works here. 

Black Widow Tech has developed the web and mobile app proof of concepts (POCs) and MVPs. The team has built the mobile app for both Android and iOS.

The team composition changes depending on our needs. During the first stage, we worked with four teammates, and then the team increased to seven. We remain in contact with about 2–3 Black Widow Tech team members. However, there are still around seven teammates involved in the background.

Black Widow Tech has done an excellent job and met our expectations. After we gave them feedback about the African market, they delivered an on-point design. Moreover, we’ve seen a very positive response to the apps’ MVPs.

They deliver on time and within budget. Although it has nothing to do with Black Widow Tech’s work, we’ve had issues with the time difference between us, which has caused delays.

Whenever our daytime matches, Black Widow Tech is highly responsive and patient. They’ve listened and understood our challenges at each stage, including when we gave them feedback about our market being different.

I’ve attended school in England, the US, and Africa and know a lot about inter-continental businesses. If Black Widow Tech is looking to work in international markets, they should consider an African desk: someone who will be in the same time zone as their potential clients and can respond to messages as fast as possible.

I’ve introduced them to two potential clients who want to develop products, and my advice is that Black Widow Tech will listen to you and try to understand how you envision your finished product. Moreover, Black Widow Tech has the expertise and patience to understand your project and see where you’re coming from.

We were building a mobile platform to help us run a scavenger hunt on users’ homes for the university’s freshman orientation. Thus, this solution needed to hold thousands of users at the time and be very secure in that regard.

Black Widow Tech helped us build our platform for both iOS and Android devices using React Native. They also provided us with maintenance services.

This tool directs students to different locations and allows them to book tickets through our service. Users can also upload photos and capture a lot of data.

We mainly worked with Tahir (CEO) and a project manager. Additionally, we had a team of four engineers working on the project, although Black Widow Tech had around 20–30 engineers in total, to my knowledge. Tahir was our main point of contact.

When our platform was complete, we had a pilot launch with over 500 users trying it. We received a lot of strong, positive feedback. Overall, the quality of Black Widow Tech’s work was really good.

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We were really impressed with Black Widow Tech’s level of communication and comfort they gave us throughout the entire engagement. Moreover, their timeline management was very good. We only had a week's delay due to an issue, but it was fine. As for communication, their team called me directly, and we also communicated via WhatsApp and frequent Google Meet meetings.

Although I mentioned that our budget increased from the initial one, Black Widow Tech did a very good job at budget management. After we agreed to work with them, they asked a lot of questions to truly understand our vision and scope. After one or two interview sessions, the original budget increased a little bit. However, it never changed after that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the things that we liked the most about Black Widow Tech was that they did a great job of communicating how they would undertake the project, making us feel comfortable. They also asked the right questions, which showed genuine interest in the project, as they ensured they understood the exact product we wanted to build.

There was nothing Black Widow Tech could have improved; they did a great job.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The more you can think about your project beforehand, the better it’ll go. Black Widow Tech did a great job asking us a lot of tough questions and challenging some of our assumptions. Given that we did a lot of preliminary work, we were able to answer those questions, which made the process really smooth.

I’m the owner and co-founder of Infoshops LLC. We sell handcrafted items online.

What challenge were you trying to address with Black Widow Tech?
We hired Black Widow Tech to build a web app, an iOS app, an Android app, an admin panel, and a seller web app. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
Black Widow Tech built our apps from scratch since we didn’t want them to use what we had before. We initially had discussions on our needs and must-haves. After that, Tahir (Product Manager) got his team together and guided us through the process. Their design team worked on the UI/UX screens and went through the process. They used Figma as a key technology.
For the development process, the Black Widow Tech team worked on features like coupons and codes. They created an entire marketplace for sellers to upload their products. A buyer site was connected to it; buyers could go there to buy products. There was a feature where users could make their information private or public.
Moreover, they worked on our checkout process, which was complex. People could add a bunch of products to their cart, and payments would go directly to the sellers instead of us. It was a complex feature that they had to figure out how to implement.
What is the team composition?
Tahir served as our project manager. Another teammate worked on the designs, while one other teammate helped with onboarding us.
How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?
We were working with another development company, but they were terrible. We had a lot of issues with them, so searched for other companies by asking some of the teams that worked with us before. Those teams recommended Black Widow Tech. We previously saw them on Google, and the recommendation solidified our choice to go with them.
How much have you invested with them?
Our investment was a little over $42,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project lasted from November 2022–November 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The apps were launched, and we onboarded around 486 sellers within two days. Overall, Black Widow Tech exceeded our expectations. There were so many things that we didn’t put in our vision board, and the team went on and did those things on their own.
How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?
Black Widow Tech delivered the project on budget. We did exceed the timelines because we added a bunch of things and had additional requests. In other words, it was our fault that the project took longer than expected.
Tahir was punctual and smart. He worked on time and never made us wait; he also always answered all the questions we had. He and his team took our vision and put it on paper even though we weren’t the best at describing our goals. Their team was well put together and exceeded our expectations. They went above and beyond and explained everything down to a tee. To communicate, we used WhatsApp.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their teamwork and communication skills were impressive. They were truly punctual and responsive.
