Black Widow Tech is helpful, understanding of our needs, communicative, and transparent in letting us know what’s feasible and what isn’t. In addition, their team is patient in making the necessary adjustments as the project progresses. Regarding tools and communication, we used WhatsApp to share Figma files, and we also used TestFlight to test the app.

Black Widow Tech has been patient with us and helpful in guiding our project in the right direction through their expertise.

My organization is called E nd E Group. We’re a small LLC consisting of my wife and me, and we work on technological products and services as well as provide financial consulting.

We’ve hired Black Widow Tech to create a mobile app that we can publish to the app stores. Specifically, we need a devotional app. This is originally conceived for my mom, who does a lot of writing. We want to give her a platform where she can reach a large audience on top of our family and friends. Our goal is to attract many users to the app around the country and the world.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Black Widow Tech has worked on both the front- and backend of our app, which consists of a platform with a frontend that works on both iOS and Android devices. It has a custom backend system that my mom can use to upload new writings and schedule them. Using the mobile app, end users can read her devotionals per day and get push notifications about a new devotional’s arrival on a specific day. 

At present, Black Widow Tech provides maintenance services for the app, assisting me in fixing bugs and issues. Apart from that, we have a bunch of projects I want to work on and release. In one of my next projects, I plan to seek their design assistance. The team is my current go-to resource for the existing and future apps I want to develop.

I mainly worked with Tahir (CEO & Co-Founder), but I’ve also interacted with Ahmar (UX Designer). Our main point of contact with regard to testing, requirements, and feedback is a project manager. 

How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?

I started the project by myself — I’m a software engineer by trade — and decided to develop the app. When we were trying to release it, I decided I wanted to hire a group. I started doing some online research until I ran into Clutch, which allowed me to narrow down my search focus. 

I selected candidates based on my budget and the components I wanted to develop. In this case, we were looking to build a custom backend and a mobile-friendly frontend. Ultimately, I used Clutch to determine that Black Widow Tech was the right company for the project.

We’ve spent about $13,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started in October 2022, and the initial release of the app was in December 2022. The product is already in the app stores, but we have an ongoing maintenance agreement with Black Widow Tech.

The Black Widow Tech team is absolutely pleasant to work with; they answer questions, inquiries, and issues promptly. They suggest solutions, and they’re extremely good at that. This is the core metric that makes me want to continue working with them indefinitely into the future. 

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is punctual, and that’s important to me. Any time I want to reach out to them and ask a question, Tahir and Ahmar are always available. We never run behind schedule. Even though we’ve had bugs throughout the project, I’ve expected issues to arise.

For the most part, we use WhatsApp as our main communication tool. It works perfectly for us. Regarding project management, we’ve used Google Spreadsheets and signed the engagement using DocuSign. We’ve used various other tools, too, such as Figma for design and email for document exchanges. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Black Widow Tech’s buy-in is impressive. Ever since I talked to their CEO, we’ve had great dialogues and discussions surrounding our interest in mobile apps as a business and the technology behind developing them. We immediately connect on that front, and I like their enthusiasm for mobile apps as technology and business. We’ve felt the same vibe with the other members of their team, too.

Moreover, the team is highly transparent about the cost. This has helped us plan what features to release first and which ones to set aside for the next release. On top of that, since we need localization services, they’ve given us an incentive for our budget and added the language feature to the product at a later stage. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. They’re a solid organization.

I’m the founder of Gym Rat Trap, a networking app for people who are into fitness and finding fitness trainers, fitness partners, and other people.

Black Widow has worked on the coding and development of our app and helped with its design. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

During the first phase, we had to sit and design the app. After a few months of designing the app, Black Widow started coding it. Apart from that, the team guided us on what we had to do to ensure our app would be available for download on Google Play and App Store. When the coding was done, we went live. 

At present, the first version of the app is available for download. We’re working on version two to add in-app payments and purchases so we can start making money off of it.

We work with Tahir (CEO & Product Manager), who serves as the project manager. One person helps with the design, while another person works on coding. 

How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?

Our team had an extensive process of searching for a vendor because the project required a lot of trust and was expensive. Black Widow seemed legitimate, and they were close to us in terms of location — I didn’t want to pay a team that was too far away. On top of that, they’d developed and finished other apps. We interviewed them, and they came out on top — the team earned our trust. 

How much have you invested with them?

Overall, we’re going to pay them about $35,000 for this project. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We received their first quote in February 2022, and we’re still working together.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Judging based on Black Widow’s design and app coding abilities, we can trust them to do the job and get it done right. We’ve had peace of mind. Our team is still waiting on the paid version of the app to establish our full judgment of the process, but everything has been going well so far. We’ve been happy with the Black Widow team. 

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re happy with their project management style. We communicate with them pretty much 24/7, and they get back to us immediately. Our projects — such as the app’s prototype or the app going live in the market — come out no later than two weeks.

Their communication is impressive. They give me a direct line with their team, so I get instant replies. Overall, they’re professional.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I hired Black Widow Tech to develop the concept we had for a web platform. I provided the design narrative, and they built the product from scratch.

The final output was basically a legacy app for the deceased, and users could sign in, upload pictures, write descriptions of the photos, and edit them together to make a video with background music.

Users can then generate a unique QR code and put it on a tombstone where people can scan and view the video you produced.

I’m the founder of Moontower Tickets. We’re a platform for promotion and ticketing services. It doesn’t matter if it’s a music, sports, or executive event; if anybody needs to sell tickets, we’re a platform for them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Black Widow Tech has worked on our website and both applications. They’ve done design and development. Also, they’ve provided support. We did a festival as a test run, and their team stood by the entire three days to see if any glitches or issues appeared.

We work directly with about six people from their team.

We searched for developers in the Houston area and got a list of 40 app developers in Texas. We reached out and interviewed many of them, but we felt most comfortable with Black Widow Tech.

We started working with them in March 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

Having everything out there running correctly is 99.9% of our business — if we don’t have it, we can’t make any money. In that sense, working with them has been really easy. Our CEO is happy.

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had a fantastic working relationship throughout the entire process. When we put something out there for them, the timeline to execute it is always done before the deadline, which is absolutely crucial for us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strengths are their communication and timeliness.

The only issue we’ve had has been with the time zone. Everything else has been dead on.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had a high-concept idea for a mobile application, and Black Widow Tech came in to develop it. The app's goal was to encourage an informed conversation about safe spaces. 

The app facilitates collaboration between users to create safe spaces. There is a map interface that includes commercial and public spaces. When setting up profiles, users have to select their identifiers, including gender and sexuality. As users make decisions, the app triggers questions that dive deeper into each user’s response. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with five teammates, including a project manager, the CEO, and an in-house designer. 

How did you come to work with Black Widow Tech?

I conducted research into mobile app developers. I had conversations with industry insiders, getting recommendations on companies to reach out to and what to look out for. Black Widow Tech fit the bill — I was impressed with their communication. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement was from March–August 2022.

I have a formal launch soon, after which I’ll know more about the app’s success. I’m really impressed with the app; it is exactly as I envisioned. The app felt like it came from me, not a consultant.

We didn’t meet our deadlines, which was tough, but the communication about the delays was good. The delays were mostly due to their limited capacity. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Black Widow Tech’s team had a lot of integrity.  My trust in them was well-placed — they understood and executed what I wanted. Their quality and communication were good. It felt like we were all on the same team. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m a unique client and, therefore, not technically savvy. So, I wish there had been a way to orient myself in the space. I’m not quite sure if that’s an improvement, but it would be a value-add for their company.

I’d advise customers to take advantage of Black Widow Tech’s willingness to collaborate. It’s essential for customers to hold themselves accountable to following meeting schedules.

I am the founder and CEO of Together.

For what projects/services did your company hire Black Widow Tech, and what were your goals?

My goal was to build a new dating application that was different than what is available today. I hired Black Widow to build both the front and back end software to make my vision a reality.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I met with 10-15 different organizations before choosing BWT. The team at BWT had all of the right answers I was looking for when I met with them, showed me great examples of other applications that they had built, and offered a reasonable price point to get things built.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do so when we started working together our meetings were very detailed on finding the best way to make things work, while also ensuring the ability to scale the solution as quickly as needed. We built applications for IOS, Android, and a back end web portal for business users.

I worked with Tahir, Ahmar, KD, Ayesha, and many others along the way. From CEO to project manager, the whole team has been excellent. They are always incredibly responsive, eager to fix bugs, and don’t settle for anything less than a product you are 100% satisfied with.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

My application is launching on both app stores in the coming weeks and am 100% confident we have a product that can do well because of the work from BWT. We have big plans for Together Dating and plan to continue to use this team to continue building our platform as we grow and want to add new features.

We communicate via zoom, GroupMe, texts, and phone calls. They are always responsive and willing to take a call if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Black Widow Tech knew how to build excellent apps no matter the difficulty. They put their heart into what they are building and don’t treat you like you are “just another check” for them. I interviewed a lot of companies before I invested a large amount of money to build my application, they were the only company that treated me like a friend and family member and truly believe that we sink and swim together.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is always room for improvement in software development, but they have been excellent. I would love to see them implement a project management software with their clients so that we can track builds and updates as they are being completed.

We had the company lead first, then went to project designer and project manager. Once the engineering started, we had the programmer working with us. Altogether 4-5 people at different phases, yet all very coherent.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They were very precise and on schedule. More over, the building of the app also brought in more details to be cared for.

We did everything virtually and had weekly or bi-weekly zoom meetings to communicate ideas and needs. In between, we used Whatsapp to communicate, and although working in many different time zones, we made it work very well and did not lag behind set-out progress.

Very driven and flexible. They are willing listeners who can get the ideas and deliver them quickly and precisely.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They are upcoming and growing. We had some communication challenges in the beginning but were able to find a happy way going forward. The process has been no problem whatsoever. They were very accommodating to our needs and there is nothing I'd have them change.

What challenge were you trying to address with Black Widow Tech?

We needed help building an app that would be the centerpiece of our business. We didn’t have the expertise to develop the solution ourselves, so we looked for providers that could support us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve first inquired about Black Widow Tech’s services and had an in-depth discussion about what our company is trying to do. Their team has come back with raw proposals, and we’ve gone through an iteration process to refine what the app will look like.

We’ve gone through another set of iteration, design cycle, and prototyping to spec out the app’s functionalities and features. Afterward, Black Widow Tech developed the solution from scratch.

The app is for data storage, and it allows non-tech savvy users to use a phone camera, scan for information, and do searches on the internet. It has a simple UI and capabilities for external communication and optical recognition. The tool can scan and recognize certain codes; it’s available for Android and iOS.

After completing the app, I’ve shown it to various test users to identify issues. Throughout the process, we’ve refined our expectations and continuously looked for problems that can arise. 

The end product hasn’t been what we’ve initially pictured, yet we’ve received a functional product from Black Widow Tech. We’ve developed the app’s second version a couple of months later.

We’ve been working together since September 2020, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Black Widow Tech has delivered the app quickly, and it functions as intended and is reliable. 

We haven’t yet deployed the app and are only in the focused-user phase, so I can’t say how the app will function with a larger userbase. That said, Black Widow Tech’s output, cost, and execution have made the project successful. I’m pleased with their work.

How did Black Widow Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Black Widow Tech’s project management has been excellent. They are communicative, responsive, and have fast turnaround times. Their team is organized — we’ve used a project management platform, and they’ve stuck to our timeline. We’ve been able to proceed quickly while keeping the project within budget. 

We usually communicate through phone calls, text messages, emails, and video calls. They’ve been very flexible whenever we need them to jump on a meeting. They are usually available within 24–48 hours. Overall, it has been a collaborative and iterative process with Black Widow Tech. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Black Widow Tech is very nimble and can turn on a dime. They’ve done really well despite our evolving scope.

I can’t think of anything. It’s a very straightforward project, and Black Widow Tech has the necessary expertise.

You can’t just go to developers with a vague idea. You will need a well-specified scope for the project to be successful.
