We approached Big Field Digital to help develop our ecommerce website to enable our customers to be able to order our products from online in order to widen our customer base. The goal was a user friendly website with luxurious feel that will properly showcase our products and what we stand for. 

The project included subscriptions, product bundles, customers being able to choose their own delivery dates as well as payments. Create a shop with other physical products that we sell as accompaniments for our main products, gift card implementation and the use of vouchers & reward system.

The response from our customers so far has been very positive. They have commented that they had great customer experience while on our website with very smooth transitions, easy to use and very appealing to the eyes which were exactly the 3 main things we wanted to achieve.

From our first meeting with moses to discuss the project, he understood instantly what needed to be done and the project simply came to life. He advised on what to do and what not to do, best ways to achieve the goal and created a meaningful plan that was easy to track. 

His implementation of the key components of the project was applaudable and his patience to listen to our input even when we didn't understand the technical implications were commendable. He was patience and accomodated our requests but ensure we did not deviate from the original plan in order to have a robust and yet appealing website. 

A project tracker was implemented from early on in the project which allowed both parties to see what had been done and what was pending and this helped steered our meetings in a more productive way.

Their ability to make you feel heard and listen attentively to your needs despite the lack of knowledge of the technical aspect. It was genuinely easy to work with Big Field Digital because Moses is an expert in his field and he demonstrated this skill very well. Being able to deal with the same person from the first stage to the completion of the project really ensured the smooth running of the project and his advise were greatly valued as he called our attentions to things we didn't think of before hand, ensure that we put processes in place to make things run smoother and faster. He was friendly and calm at the same time and very accomodating of our suggestions.

We use WhatsApp. We had about a month delay but it was on our side as well. They’re responsive to us and everything is documented. They get to the feedback almost immediately.

Have dedicated team members to work with them. They will always need feedback. Be ready to engage. This will allow issues to be taken care of right away.

I’m a director of LYF FOODS, a food wholesaling startup. We retail all our farm products, and we also sell to third-party food suppliers.

We needed to get the information out about our products. We needed to build a website for people to do online shopping.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our e-commerce website. I was able to explain to them that I wanted the site to be easy and simple. They implemented a search function, flexible payment portals, and direct access to “add to cart” on every page to ensure easier checkout. 

I told them to use our company’s existing color scheme. They took pictures and videos for the website. We had to get the graphics right so that it could load quickly. In this part of Africa, we have issues with bandwidth and data. We had to get the pictures and images right.

What is the team composition?

We had contact with Moses (Founder) for requirement gathering and understanding the vision of what we wanted to do. There was a team of 6-8 people who came in on certain days to interview, take in more videos, more pictures, and just to capture the entire aspect of the company.

The feedback on the website has been excellent. Within four weeks, people were able to shop with us online through our site. We have a lot of online sales now. A lot of people are calling in for inquiries and even making orders. It’s been excellent. We’re happy we chose to work with them. We get good feedback. The user interface is excellent.

They’re very hands-on with support. If there are any issues, they’re quick to resolve them or work with our team members. We communicate via email, face-to-face, and Google documents. We are still working with Google Analytics to see how we’re doing from the backend.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their support system is most impressive. Whatever they deploy, they’re ready and available to talk, explain, train, and support every step of the way. They go above and beyond to provide excellent service.

No. They’re perfect for us. We won’t hesitate to call them in the future to do more work for us.

We were trying to help people with dietary preferences find places to eat by developing a multi-sided platform.

Big Field Digital is developing three different parts of the platform. The administration and outlet (for the restaurants) sides of the platform are web-based, and the user side of the platform is mobile-based. They are using Python for the backend.

We started working with them in October 2019 and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It’s too early to say because we haven’t been able to test it. There are still a few things that need to be ironed out but I have no doubt that they will be addressed in due time.

How did Big Field Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Generally speaking, they’ve managed the project fairly well so far. They haven’t been on time with some of their deliverables but the delays weren’t too bad. We use Confluence and Jira to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Big Field Digital is pretty easy to work with. Outsourcing is quite difficult because it’s hard to communicate and make changes regularly, but the team gives us regular demonstrations throughout the project.

They are always willing to make changes to the product. They think intuitively, making adjustments and suggestions when they see fit. Additionally, the team has been aligned with the broader vision for our product.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve had some communication issues. More regular product updates would be helpful and a clearer project outline could’ve been created.

Know what you want and make it clear.

It was through referral, we had worked on a project together earlier and they were able to meet up to the goals of the project, the delivery was also timely and professional. The outlook of the previous project worked on showed a good understanding of branding and how it relates to the website development. This was a major deciding factor in the decision for a vendor as there was the need for quality delivery within a considerable time.

The website features includes a full description of the NIBF, its goals, objectives and vision contained in the about us page, it has an e commerce feature to allow for selection of items to cart as well as payment integration at checkout. it has the full eCommerce feature. Several online meetings were done to look at the sitemap and structure of the site as well as mock-ups and wireframes to ensure that it met our expectations. Overall the re-branding done with consistent feedback from the beginning to the end of the project

The Bigfield digital team comprising the project manager, web-developer, content developer and creator, the quality assurance team alongside members of our team which is the overall project manager, digital media team and the management team

The website rebranding has significantly improved the quality of visits to the site as well as more people taking some time to visit other pages on the site. The page loading speed and design quality has been increased our online visibility. There has been more request coming through the website as well as engagement both on the website and social media accounts

We worked using a WhatsApp group to share information. request were made through the group and feedback provided. all the necessary stakeholders on both side were available on the group to checkmate timelag in providing required information and feedback.

A good knowledge of the branding and it input into the development of the website is key, as well as the ability to deliver project to time while maintaining a high level of quality delivery is impressive. Also their communication and creativity are impressive.

I serve as the Head Customer Success Representative at SellOff.ng. In simple terms, I am responsible for giving support to every user of our platform from the point of registration till they check out.

For what projects/services did your company hire Big Field Digital?

After researching and strategizing, we began our recommerce brand intending to create a platform where people can sell and buy fairly used products. We had interesting ideas for our start-up but didn’t know how to go about the implementation which required us to create an online store with a secure payment system. We also needed to create a brand identity as we didn’t even have a name or logo yet and we needed massive marketing efforts to make our platform known to our target audience.

What were your goals for this project?

We had several goals including the ones we hadn’t thought about until Big Field Digital’s team pointed them out. Some of our goals were to create a convenient shopping experience (web and mobile app) for people who wanted to buy quality used items. We wanted to get only trusted sellers on our site and prevent any form of fraudulent activities. In the area of digital marketing, we needed to onboard more sellers to the platform, generally increase our brand awareness and the number of users of the App.

How did you select this vendor?

Well, it was quite easy because we knew we wanted an agency based in Nigeria that could handle both the technical and marketing aspects of our project. While searching online, we found Big Field Digital then visited their office in Ibadan; their workspace was appealing and we noticed how the separate departments within the team collaborated. It impressed us and we decided to work with them.

After we told them about our ideas during the discovery meeting, we left them to come up with the brand identity (name, colours, logo, and mantra), marketing strategy, and mockup designs. They presented all of this to our team and we were blown away; we approved it immediately and they began to develop the web and mobile application. In preparation for the application launch, their digital marketing team opened our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn), set up our bio, and created short explainer videos. They are currently maintaining our robust e-commerce web app, managing our social media accounts, running Pay-Per-Click ads as well as email and mobile marketing campaigns to ensure that those who subscribed to get notified when we launch weren’t left out.

The team comprised of 2 developers who worked on the frontend and backend of the application, a project manager who kept track of all activities, two digital marketers responsible for SEO, social media management, and PPC ads, a graphic designer who created every visual design used on the website, social media, digital adverts, flyers, and stickers, an animator who created 2 explainer videos, one was in English language while the other was in Pidgin. Their Copywriter also created all content on the social media accounts, web and mobile app, as well as ad copies. In total, we worked with 8 members of their team.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

SellOff.ng now ranks on search engines for several keywords relating to used products in Nigeria and our progressing online presence has attracted both sellers and buyers to our platform. Our users also feel safe when trading on the website because of the verification process for sellers and the Escrow payment system.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Very effective I must say. They were extremely transparent and apart from collaborative tools like Slack and WhatsApp Messenger which were used to communicate, the project manager stood as the bridge between both teams and kept us updated at every stage of the project.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Big Field Digital’s organisational skill and ability to meet deadlines is top-notch, they are also great at brainstorming and idea implementation. Without forgetting to mention that they helped in training both our Field Marketers and Customer Success Representatives on the use of SellOff.ng’s web application.

What challenge were you trying to address with Big Field Digital?

We contracted Big Field Digital to build a WordPress website for one of our clients, including design and development, as well as some branding work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handled all aspects of the development. We were able to show them some existing websites that we liked and spoke about our branding guides, and then they started out by working through some wireframes to create and design the website. After that had been developed, we ran tests and launched, and their team continued to support the site for two weeks or so before we closed the project.

Everything was done within WordPress and a MailChimp connection for customer email. Most of the work was just style and layout, figuring out a floating navigation and color scheme, and then working with our client to develop a logo around the color scheme that had the more urban feel that they were going for.

We worked with two members of their team as our main contacts, sort of as project managers to just make sure we were satisfied with the work and that things kept progressing.

Our client was able to take the website they had built to investors and showcase their products. They were able to build a mailing list through the site for prospects of people who wanted to use their product. Its functionality and reliability enabled them to be successful through version one of their products in getting investors interested in what they're doing.

They kept us very informed throughout the process, which was great. We had a daily catch up over text on the WhatsApp group for the team, as well as a weekly call, and we used Confluence and Jira tickets to keep track of the different stages of the project.

I can proudly say that the overhaul of our branding, website, and social media improved our online presence and image. These helped us establish trust in both the downstream and upstream sectors of our industry. As a result, we have seen a surge in partnership opportunities across the globe.

At the initial state, we had a series of meetings where we shared the goal and objectives for the project. Big Field Digital designed our website, they did social media profiling and a general rebranding.

The website features include a link to the product catalog where people can seamlessly access and download our catalogs for different categories, blog, management profile, an about us page, depot contact details, customer profiles, a newsletter, and a map locator. They provided wireframes and mockups so we had a good understanding of how the website would look.

The Big Field Digital team comprises of Web developers, a digital marketer and a project manager. As for us, myself and our digital and editorial departments worked hand in hand with the Big Field team.

Upon completion of the project, we had an exponential increase in our online visibility, growth in number of followers on our social media platforms as well as real-time conversation with customers who we also engage directly through and website. We had more request for our products.

Slack was used to carry us along. We had a WhatsApp group and shared emails consistently. In all, the communication was effective from the beginning to end.
