BEON developers are aumenting our full time US-based engineering team to accomplish several goals, including:

Containerizing major portions of our platform

Migrating our application interface from a windows app to a web interface using Angular. 

Building several features for our e-commerce application.

The extend our full time staff and we treat them like they are part of the team. WE do not assign them specific projects to execute as a group.

More work done in a shorter period of time. Great team morale and energy. The team members from Beon are positive, creative, and hard working.

We do not really use them for project management. But on the rare occasion we have needed to provide some feedback to team members about performance, they have done an excellent job and responsded to our feedback quickly and professionally.

We measure their success based on their ability to integrate with the team. In that regard, they’ve integrated themselves really well. In fact, they’re able to pick up and participate in any project that’s part of the broader software development initiative. They’ve also adopted domain knowledge of our platform, and they’re completing work at the same rate as our software engineers.

How did BEON Tech Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great from a project management standpoint. We use Jira as our project management tool, and we communicate through Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed by their sourcing process and the way that they’ve been able to communicate possible candidates for our team and the way they let us vet them. They’ve been very collaborative in that process — helping us find engineers that are really a good match for our team culture and skillset.

Be really clear about what you’re looking for so they can find somebody who’s a good match. You need to know exactly the type of engineer and the personalities that you’re looking to bring out of the team so that they can do their job well.

For every new position, we meet with our BEON.tech representative, identify our needs, and discuss expectations from both ends to determine what they need from us and what we need from them. We also discuss our specific requirements and the job specifications, including the specific skill sets required.

From there, BEON.tech identifies potential contractors for us to interview and eventually hire. Throughout our engagement with the engineers we hire, we review their performance and ensure it's up to par.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

BEON.tech has been pretty effective at finding candidates for us. Each engineer is responsible for specific tasks, so we don't have quantitative metrics to show the impact of their work. Qualitatively speaking, BEON.tech has identified really qualified candidates for us, so we've been able to onboard top-tier engineers; that's why we've continued working with them.

How did BEON.tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Whenever something comes up, BEON.tech has been very receptive. Thankfully, nothing egregious has happened, and we've had no serious issues. Thus far, it has been a cohesive experience. We use project management tools internally, but we don't use them to collaborate with BEON.tech directly. We simply communicate via email and have a shared Slack channel as well.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Their representative has been more than willing to go above and beyond to ensure that the engineers have all the support they need. She always communicates her plan of action so that we're all on the same page. Thus far, it has been great working with her, and we've had a very good experience. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

BEON.tech's responsiveness has been outstanding. When working across different channels, it's challenging to remain responsive to any needs clients have. However, BEON.tech has been very communicative.

There were not true measurable outcomes for the project because the projects are ongoing. I’m a department manager at a software company in the financial and energy industries. We primarily develop software for oil and gas reserve companies.

We needed help with staff augmentation.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BEON.tech provides us with a developer specialist in data engineering who follows our internal software development practices. He mostly works on software we have already developed, making enhancements to it. Still, he has also worked on some tasks completely from scratch. As for the technology stack, most of our work has been done in TypeScript and C#, and he has done some backend API work as well.

Although BEON.tech’s resource mostly focuses on development work, he has also provided us with input and ideas for software architecture. Additionally, he has free reign to design and architect his own solutions.

What is the team composition?

I work directly with the one resource that BEON.tech provides us with. They also provide us with more resources for other areas, but I don’t interact with them. In total, we work with around five people from their team. These resources include developers and 1–2 UI/UX designers.

Our VP of software had a previous relationship with BEON.tech, so he contacted them when he started working for our company.

I’m unsure about BEON.tech standard rates because I’m not in charge of paying invoices. I estimate that we’ve spent between $50,000–$200,000 in total.

I started working with the data engineer from BEON.tech by the end of April 2022, and our engagement is ongoing. However, their other resources might have started working for us before that.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The resource that BEON.tech provide us with is very good. Thanks to him, we’ve been able to add new functionality to our API, and our clients are very excited about the enhancements we’ve done. As general feedback, the developer and the person who manages him from BEON.tech’s side have been great to work with. Moreover, the quality of their development work has been fantastic.

How did BEON.tech perform from a project management standpoint?

BEON.tech’s resource has been very responsive, and he has delivered on time. We’re very open to their suggestions as well. We communicate via Slack with the developer and via email with the BEON.tech management team. We also send the developer tasks through Jira and check his work through GitHub.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BEON.tech seems to really care about their employees. One time, I found out that our developer didn’t have an extra monitor, and he was working only with their laptop screen. Thus, I contacted his manager from BEON.tech and asked if they could provide him with a monitor, and they immediately took care of it.

I can’t think of anything they could improve on. BEON.tech has been extremely professional, and their development work has been fantastic.

They’re an excellent company to work with — we’ll continue to work with them moving forward.

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several nearshore companies and found the combination of value, talent, and demonstrated commitment and career development with their staff as a winner over the other companies.

At this point, they have delivered mobile developers as staff augmentation for new development through first launch to ongoing maintenance. In the case where we have had a staff member leave (because they immigrated to another country), BEON did a very good job of getting us a replacement in time and making sure that that person was trained as well as possible given the time constraints.

We discussed our needs with our contact at BEON and provided them a job description; they were able to quickly provide us a list of possible staff, with pre-screening in place. We performed our typical screening interviews as we normally do, and BEON completed the transaction in either hiring or simply assigning the staff to our contract.

This has definitely allowed us to speed up our development process with quality staff. I see it as a way to save some costs but also to engage more recruiting to acquire great personnel to achieve outcomes faster.

We have a remote workforce in various locations across the country; integrating BEON into our workflow has been seamless.

It is evident that they invest a lot in their staff. For example, they are bringing their software developers together for a training and mentoring event -- where most companies like BEON do not really engage with their staff outside of onboarding and offboarding.
