Our client provided a list of features and would like to use WooCommerce. The responsibilities of Teplin were UI/UX design, WooCommerce development, and QA. A few days after starting the contract, they provided us with 3 examples of design for the Home page. The client was impressed and liked all of them, but the first one was the best and we got a design within 3 weeks with all that the client wanted (thanks Anna).

The next step was WooCommerce development. We have weekly reports from the team and were satisfied with the results.

I’m the Ecommerce Project Manager of a subscription beauty box company. We curate vegan and cruelty-free beauty products for each of our monthly boxes and also have a shop for customers to purchase individual products.

We had outgrown our website from a tech side (old custom code conflicts and tech debt) and also were looking for a better design that reflected our new brand guidelines. Teplin was hired to redesign and develop our Shopify Plus store. Our main goals for this project were to improve the user experience, improve site speed, and bring us into Shopify 2.0 so we can better manage the day-to-day of our website in-house as much as possible.

Teplin was referred to us by a trusted partner. Teplin started doing our ongoing development maintenance while we were planning this project. We were immediately happy with their work and signed on with them. Their design examples were also strong along with a project quote that was within our budget.

We provided a detailed RFP that we went through in detail during the sales process and at the beginning of the project. Teplin provided us with wireframes and then proceeded with full UI designs of the entire website which included default and custom page templates, collections, product detail pages, custom PDP / page templates, blog, and account / checkout flows.

We went through some minor design revisions and once fully approved by our team, the development phase began. They provided us with a preview link of the new website where we performed detailed QA and submitted any feedback we had. They also confirmed all app integrations were working properly. The website was launched!

Our main point of contact was Vlad and he was with us every step of the way. We also worked with a lead designer and a lead developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We received many compliments from our customers right away. Our custom PDP pages are able to provide more detailed information on each monthly subscription box and product which was something our customers have been asking for. We have also seen more conversions from our new subscription landing pages.Overall we saw noticeable user experience improvements immediately.

Vlad kept us up-to-date on the project and asked and answered questions primarily using Upwork’s Messages section for communication. We also used Figma for the design phase and Notion for instructional aspects and the QA phase.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were very impressed with the wireframes and designs created. They took our brand guidelines and inspiration we provided and delivered initial designs that exceeded our expectations. Teplin also has continuously impressed us with their responsive communication.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We have been very satisfied with Teplin’s work and have no recommendations at this time. We will continue to partner with them for our website needs.

The whole process went smoothly and professionally, from gathering the requirements to the final delivery. The team was hired to design and implement a landing page for a technological startup, with aspect on clean design, simple and explanatory animation, SEO, web vitals, clean and maintainable code. After a few iterations we went from a wireframe to a fully functional implementation. Absolutely happy with the team and their performance

We’ve spent $13,000 on the first phase of the project. The maintenance contract is $1,000.

We started working together in December 2020, and we completed the first phase of the project in June 2021. I’ve added a contract for maintenance in case things break.

Everyone loves the website.

They’re pretty good. The team is always available, and they respond fast. That’s one of the reasons we keep working with them. Overall, they’re very reliable. We communicate via Upwork.

I tried another developer before working with them. The biggest asset Teplin brings to the table is availability and expertise when it comes to coding. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had to work around their attention to details. Sometimes there’s also a language barrier. This leads to us having to re-do the work because it didn’t follow the instructions. Whenever there’s an issue like this, they don’t charge me for it. They’re pretty flexible, overall.

I am the Product Manager at a Ride Share company based in Canada. Our company was established in 2015 as a small start up, and has grown to a mid-sized company with 50 employees. In our team, it is my job to work and coordinate with all of our offshore resources to help ensure we are able to meet company’s deliverables and milestones.

As we started our company in the year of 2015, we had only done so on theory and ideas. As we continued to run our mobile application, we began to notice some bugs and issues on our front-end application, we had found that many people did not like our branding and UI/UX and the overall user experience for our application was lackluster. The challenge was, in a very competitive space, our application had no competitive edge and was not able to retain users nor scale.

To solve our issue of front end design not being adequate enough, we had sourced Teplin Design Agency to help us with this task.

What were your goals for this project?

Our primary goal was to rebuild our mobile application, to grow our userbase and to help expand our service offerings into new regions. We had also made another goal of create a beautiful design that will help to consolidate all our products and apps into one app. Our goal was to move away from having multiple sub brands and to consolidate everything into our “super app”. The primary goal for Teplin was to create a production ready design that will capture our company’s vision.

How did you select Teplin?

The process of selection talent for a project is very difficult and tiring. We had gone through more than 20+ interviews from local candidate, agencies in upwork, and freelancers on upwork and dribble.

Our process we had put into place was to do speed interviews with various teams we had liked and to consolidate a master list of our final candidates. In the end of our search, we had narrowed our search to about 5 candidates. While we conducted interview 2 with Teplin, they had shown us a portfolio of work that was very relevant to the project we were building.

Furthermore, they had 2D, 3D designs and animations, which was something I was specifically looking for. The reason I had chosen Teplin, is because I had built a good relationship with the business team during the interview process, and their previous work shows their experience.

Describe the project in detail.

Our company was rebuilding our mobile applications, and we wanted to source a UI / UX designer to help create the production ready design for our project. With our mobile applications, we are pursuing a new direction of super-apps or all-in-one apps. These applications are a collection of multiple services with exceptional UX to bridge the services seamlessly. So, we were on the hunt to find an excellent UI designer who can help create this vision for us.

In the beginning of June, we had started with Teplin to build our first mobile application. After giving Teplin the initial scope of work and some wireframes, they had completed the first application by July 13 2020. While we were reviewing the designs with the developers, we had decided to continue to use Teplin to design our other mobile applications.

From Aug 10 – Oct 19 we had used them to create production ready designs for 5 other applications. Unfortunately we are a public company and bound by an NDA with Teplin, so these are most of the details we can disclose for the project.

What was the team composition?

Our team for the design project was very small. Since I am usually dealing with the offshore resources, for this project it was only myself, the project manager and the designer. The three of us worked together daily to complete our milestones and tasks. The size of the team remained the same throughout the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately there is no way to measure the success of the project since the designs were one part of the bigger project. The mobile applications are still under development. However, from our executive team, employees and even customers they have given much praise from the teasers we have shown.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As the main lead of the team, I had coordinate with the project manager and the designer to complete the designs. Our process was quite simple and agile. We had created the structure of our workflow, where I would produce the written requirements. Myself and the manger will then have a call to go over the requirements in details.

After the discussion is finished, we then create a sprint road map for all the designs. And each sprint we complete the requirements, the wireframe and the production ready design. We had continuously run this cycle until we had completed all of our application.

The workflow was very effective, I had seen that we had used skype to mostly chat throughout the day and JIRA to track our progress. We were able to complete the tasks faster with still some time in the end.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

From our experience with Teplin I think we were blown away by the speed at which the designer was moving and the quality of the designs. We had sourced Teplin to originally design 1 mobile application. After they had completed the 1st one, we asked them to do our other 5 applications.

In the 4 months of work Teplin was able to produce 6 production ready designs. We were completely blown away by how much we were able to accomplish. It was such a great help for us.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were very happy from our experience with Teplin and wouldn’t say there is anything we that they could use improvement in.

The deciding factor as the 100% reputation of Teplin at upwork, they where big to do the project but small at the same time to give us a personal service.
