I’m the director of design and digital at two companies: TSM and Blitz App. TSM is the most lucrative e-sports team in North America. Blitz App does statistics and analytics for e-sports.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bachoo Design Studio?

Bachoo has helped with both companies. For our first project together, I needed a marketing website for the opening of a facility in LA.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bachoo initially created a marketing website for the launch of our $50 million facility. They used WebGL. Since then, their team has taken on various design and development projects.

Bachoo branded our new talent agency, which is our portfolio of e-sports influencers. Their team created our brand, logo, and website. In addition, they created our visual style, pitch decks, and messaging.

We also worked together to rebrand TSM’s website and shop on Shopify. Their team used React and modified graphics based on our current look to bring cohesion to the website. For Blitz App, they rebranded the website and helped with brand positioning. They also worked on another marketing website for another company using React.

What is the team composition?

About a year and a half ago, they had eight people working on the project. For the past several months, six people including developers worked on our projects. However, I mainly work with Elena (Founder, Owner & Chief of Production), Gala (Senior Designer), and Marina (Lead Project Manager).

How did you come to work with Bachoo Design Studio?

I reached out to Bachoo because I liked their style. I vetted a bunch of agencies but liked how understanding Elena was. As we’re both designers, it was easy for us to communicate. They also gave the impression that their team could make my life easier.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent about $60,000 on their services so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’m still working with them and started working with them in August 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I generally measure the success of our engagements according to my visual and development standards. Their team builds quality products with analytical integrations, which is helpful. They implement designs and technologies well. Their team’s also flexible. I can give them any project and they’ll execute it in two-week sprints. It’s very helpful.

How did Bachoo Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

At first, project management was a little rocky. They had a different project manager at the time, and now their project management’s well done. Their team provides estimates and deadlines. They’re responsive, professional, flexible. I can send them work the weekend before a deadline and they’ll help me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their flexibility to work on any project with me. For one project, I said yes to the client before I even talked with Bachoo. They immediately jumped into the project and did a great job. I know that I always have someone to take on projects for me, which is so helpful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could do better during the specification process. This is only because I run a product development team. Their team could advance the project description process. That’s partly because they aren’t terribly familiar with e-sports and gaming. More client research could help the design process.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Come with examples. Be transparent about your budget and expectations because they’re flexible and honest.

I’m the marketing manager for Kidbrooke. We provide B2B analytics to financial organizations, such as banks and wealth managers, via APIs.

We needed to rebrand. We started as a consulting company but evolved into a more software tech company over the last few years. We wanted to change our branding and logo to reflect the change in our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They redesigned our logo and created new brand guidelines. They introduced new fonts and a new color palette. We also wanted branded material, so they created business cards, letterhead, and social media styles. We’re now working with them to rebrand our website.

There were about 2–3 people working on our project. We spoke with the CEO, project manager, and art director.

They reached out to one of our founders through LinkedIn.

We’ve spent about $4,000 so far.

The project started in August 2020 and is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We plan to launch our entire new brand in January. Overall, our team is really pleased with their work. The design looks great. It’s a vast improvement from what we had before. They’re very proactive and creative. They always ask questions to make sure everything is clear.

How did Bachoo Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve stuck to the timeline and have been really responsive. When we leave comments, they’re able to address them by the next day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by their creativity and attention to detail. On top of that, they’re proactive and efficient.

Nothing comes to mind.

Make sure you have a couple of calls to brief them before the project starts. That will ensure everyone understands the scope of the project.

I am the marketing director at Proxet. We’re a software development company that is introducing different services. We are doing everything according to business verticals, technologies, and industries we work with.

We recently created a marketing department within our company. Although our company has more than 10 years of experience, we had a lack of marketing expertise. We needed a company or service that could provide good quality design.

I worked with the project manager as well as the designer. There were also about three people who were responsible for different activities. They were like marketing consultants, but they explained the whole concept, and we tried to explain what we wanted to them.

Based on the research of about 10 companies, we decided to go ahead with Bachoo Design Studio and sign a contract with them.

The total cost was about $20,000. It might've been more or less than that.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement started in October 2019, and we launched the website at the end of May 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have received positive feedback not only from members of our team but also from people who have visited our website. They just love it and enjoy the website in general.

How did Bachoo Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They were quite professional and open to solving different issues that happened during the process of the website creation. They helped by providing different consultations and analyses on how the design should look, what was good to do, and what was bad to do. We had a few methods of communication, but we mostly used email and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best thing about working with them was their creative outlook and vision for the concept of the website.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything about their design was quite good and professional.

I would definitely recommend working with Bachoo if you are trying to create something with a design focus, and if you want to have something different in the market.

They created the design and content for the new webpage from copy and layout to illustrations and icons. They also developed the web page with basic SEO features.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

It's too early to say.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We used Slack for written communication and Zoom forc alls. Deadlines were communicated with a simple timeline drafted in Excel (no project management tool).

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their skills in 3D animation were impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There was lack of research prior initiating the project which led to misunderstanding and a lot of time invested in explaining the nature of the industry.

What were your goals for this project?

A complete overhaul of our website, including a refresh of our brand.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Our CEO evaluated several design firms and selected Bachoo based on many factors, including their design skills evident on other projects.

Describe the project in detail.

Bachoo worked with our team to restructure the entire website and to refresh not only the content, but the brand. A brand new navigation and unique graphics provided a more modern look to our website. Bachoo also designed the look of our App (the customer account area), to match our new brand.

What was the team composition?

Primarily the Bachoo team of designers and project managers coordinated with our small team, composed primarily of marketing, our CEO and our CIO.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our website was launched in December and we have received much positive feedback. We are able to idealize many marketing campaigns and programs to help us drive additional traffic to our new site. The structure of the entire website now makes better sense

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The Bachoo team kept us to a strict schedule, which was extremely helpful. As with many small company, we are juggling many competing priorities, but Bachoo served as our partner, making sure that we kept on deadlines. It was extremely helpful to have them manage the project as closely as they did.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

their design skills are excellent. We were able to verbally communicate our ideas, and they converted them to designs. Their project management team was professional and competent.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not that I can think of.

I am the founder of the popular Way of Life habit tracker app.

We needed a new landing page for the app.

What were your goals for this project?

To increase the number of visitors who, after having visited the new site, would continue to one of the app stores to download the app.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

Based on their portfolio and talks over Skype and email, I was pretty confident they could deliver.

Describe the project in detail.

The site needed to have a fresh engaging look demonstrating the power of Way of Life without going to much into detail, however, enough that the user would want to install the app.

What was the team composition?

Me, a designer and a manager from Bachoo.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We saw a 33% increase in the conversion rate immediately after launching the new site.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. The designer was very responsive and open to my ideas and feedback, however, she also had very strong (and valid) opinions, which brought us just a bit further :-)

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I loved their quality, turnaround, politeness, and creativity.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really honestly.

I’m a UX designer at a FinTech startup. We have an app that provides financial services to customers in Brazil. I work on the product team, collaborating with them to design new features, develop research protocols, audit older features, and identify areas for improvement.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bachoo Design Studio?

We hired Bachoo Design Studio to build an MVP for our product. We didn’t have the resources to hire an internal design team, so we decided to partner with a group that could design our app from the ground up. Our goal was to make financial services available to Brazilians who may not have access to a traditional bank because of credit history or other issues.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bachoo Design Studio designed the UI/UX for the app we have now. They completed a variety of design work, including UX flows, UI development, and interaction designs. The team guides our engineers through the implementation process with each of their designs.

The app they designed is essentially a digital wallet that lets users pay bills, make purchases, manage their finances, and complete other tasks that banks typically handle. Their team is planning to roll out more robust banking and financial features before the end of this year.

What is the team composition?

We work primarily with one of the co-founders of Bachoo Design Studio. We check in with her regularly, and she is always present when we need to make tough decisions. We also work with a senior designer who interfaces with our engineers to build features and supervise implementation.

How did you come to work with Bachoo Design Studio?

I’m not sure how we initially found Bachoo Design Studio, but we’ve continued to work with them primarily because of their senior designer.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our company began working with Bachoo Design Studio in the fall of 2017, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Without Bachoo Design Studio, we wouldn’t have a product. We’ve greatly benefitted from working with their experienced designers, especially as a young startup.

Users have told us that the app is very intuitive, and that is entirely a result of Bachoo Design Studio’s work. We’re currently in a phase of high growth, and we’re expecting that our user base will increase as we continue to release new features.

How did Bachoo Design Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve managed the overall project from our end through setting timelines, giving requirements, and coordinating with engineers, many of whom are subcontractors. In terms of Bachoo Design Studio’s internal project management, I’ve always felt comfortable with their ability to allocate their resources and complete tasks on time.

We typically communicate through Slack at least daily, and our designer will use Slack to message our engineers directly. We also use Confluence to record and comment on documentation. We schedule meetings through Google Calendar and hold meetings on Google Hangouts and Zoom. We’ve moved from an ad hoc meeting schedule to having conversations at least twice a week.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly efficient and exceptionally hardworking. Their team is also reliable, trustworthy, and reachable, all of which are important traits for a partner that is located in a different country.

In terms of their design capabilities, I’ve been very impressed by their senior designer. She’s extremely thoughtful and conscientious, frequently looking at the whole flow of the product while executing discrete visual design specifications. She also gives regular feedback and asks great questions. We’ve benefitted from her unique point of view, especially when we’ve had to make important decisions about the direction of our product. At times, she’s acted like more of an employee than an external partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think I have any constructive feedback. When you’re working with a proficient team like Bachoo Design Studio, everything becomes easier, and you don’t have to worry as much.

If anything, it would be great if they were more vocal and assertive. They have valuable opinions and excellent design insights, and I’d love to see them push back against our management team during higher level conversations. With a contractor relationship, that can be very difficult to navigate, but they have the expertise regarding UI and product design.

I’m the CEO of SabreCMS. We provide a platform on which people can design a website or e-commerce store of their own.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Bachoo Design Studio?

Our current UX/UI and web design were out of touch with what our platform had grown to be. The feedback we received pointed toward mismatches in everything from our logo to the graphics on our corporate website.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a design and look and feel that appealed mostly to developers and agencies, but also inspire dtrust in end-users visiting our site. The logo had to communicate our passion for creation. 

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

My team reached out to several agencies and freelancers to hear their thoughts and ideas about a rebrand and redesign. From our first email contact, Bachoo demonstrated a high level of professionalism. Ultimately, we felt they understood our vision and DNA best.

Describe the project in detail.

Initially, Bachoo proposed a large number of new logos, ranging from sketches to more complete drawings. We iterated those designs and discussed the pros/cons of their meanings with our designers. After we arrived at a logo we felt signaled everything we wanted, they designed our entire web experience. They solicited our input throughout the process, but we had little corrective feedback to give. Their work captured everything we hoped to express.

We worked with an account manager who was engaged and competent. They connected us with both project managers and designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Customers, colleagues, and investors complimented us on our new design days after it launched. Lead-generation has picked up significantly since the launch, though other factors have contributed to this as well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They’re highly effective and communicate clearly and efficiently. We enjoyed their process immensely and saw almost daily progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their level of friendliness and professionalism was outstanding. They managed to produce great results and enjoy their work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, not that I saw. They couldn’t have performed better than they did.

We’re a data project team. We launch open data projects for the Ministry of Finance in Ukraine, while another project launched by our team was for an NGO. We also have our own magazine that provides information on open data and its risks. I’m the CFO, and I also handle analytics.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bachoo?

The basic challenge was starting the government projects as it involved a lot of bureaucracy. It was a challenge to find teams for each element.

We searched for different contractors for design, the IT parts, and other branches of the project. We found Bachoo for the design elements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided designs for the open budget and government spending projects, our online magazine, and another web portal. It’s a total of four portals for different projects. They didn’t work on mobile app designs, but the web portals are mobile responsive.

The portals deal with budget public-funds transparency. The spending and open budget portals correlate with each other and are owned by the same ministry.

What is the team composition?

I was responsible for the communication with them for all our projects. They have around 20 people on their team.

How did you come to work with Bachoo?

Two of our projects went through a procurement process, using a procurement portal. We analyzed several proposals, looking at implementation time, pricing, and portfolios. Bachoo fared much better than the other companies.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We launched the first project with them in July 2015, while the most recent was finished in March 2018. We plan to start a new one in 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Almost everyone we’ve talked to who has visited our portals has told us that they’re quite good, with user-friendly interfaces and designs.

The design for the magazine is modern and interesting-looking. When clients visit our site, they’re impressed.

How did Bachoo perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with them is very easy. We’ve had a very good experience, and all our projects were finished on time, with our questions addressed and requests completed.

For the first project, they helped us create a mobile-responsive version, with UX. We had our own concept, and they made some propositions that changed our vision. In the end, it came out much better than we expected.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity and their sense of responsibility are very impressive. They do everything on time, and whenever we made a request to shift the schedule—to deliver some parts 1–2 weeks early—they were flexible and brought results as required.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing in particular that they need to improve. We’ve worked with three different design managers across our projects with them and everything was quite good with all of them. We had no problems or misunderstandings at any time.

Look through their portfolio and see whether you like the work. You can be sure that the same quality will be delivered for your own projects.
