I’m the CEO of SabreCMS. We provide a platform on which people can design a website or e-commerce store of their own.

For what projects/services did your company hire Bachoo Design Studio?

Our current UX/UI and web design were out of touch with what our platform had grown to be. The feedback we received pointed toward mismatches in everything from our logo to the graphics on our corporate website.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a design and look and feel that appealed mostly to developers and agencies, but also inspire dtrust in end-users visiting our site. The logo had to communicate our passion for creation.

How did you select this vendor?

My team reached out to several agencies and freelancers to hear their thoughts and ideas about a rebrand and redesign. From our first email contact, Bachoo demonstrated a high level of professionalism. Ultimately, we felt they understood our vision and DNA best.

Initially, Bachoo proposed a large number of new logos, ranging from sketches to more complete drawings. We iterated those designs and discussed the pros/cons of their meanings with our designers. After we arrived at a logo we felt signaled everything we wanted, they designed our entire web experience. They solicited our input throughout the process, but we had little corrective feedback to give. Their work captured everything we hoped to express.

We worked with an account manager who was engaged and competent. They connected us with both project managers and designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Customers, colleagues, and investors complimented us on our new design days after it launched. Lead-generation has picked up significantly since the launch, though other factors have contributed to this as well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They’re highly effective and communicate clearly and efficiently. We enjoyed their process immensely and saw almost daily progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their level of friendliness and professionalism was outstanding. They managed to produce great results and enjoy their work.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, not that I saw. They couldn’t have performed better than they did.

We’re a data project team. We launch open data projects for the Ministry of Finance in Ukraine, while another project launched by our team was for an NGO. We also have our own magazine that provides information on open data and its risks. I’m the CFO, and I also handle analytics.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bachoo?

The basic challenge was starting the government projects as it involved a lot of bureaucracy. It was a challenge to find teams for each element.

We searched for different contractors for design, the IT parts, and other branches of the project. We found Bachoo for the design elements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided designs for the open budget and government spending projects, our online magazine, and another web portal. It’s a total of four portals for different projects. They didn’t work on mobile app designs, but the web portals are mobile responsive.

The portals deal with budget public-funds transparency. The spending and open budget portals correlate with each other and are owned by the same ministry.

What is the team composition?

I was responsible for the communication with them for all our projects. They have around 20 people on their team.

How did you come to work with Bachoo?

Two of our projects went through a procurement process, using a procurement portal. We analyzed several proposals, looking at implementation time, pricing, and portfolios. Bachoo fared much better than the other companies.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We launched the first project with them in July 2015, while the most recent was finished in March 2018. We plan to start a new one in 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Almost everyone we’ve talked to who has visited our portals has told us that they’re quite good, with user-friendly interfaces and designs.

The design for the magazine is modern and interesting-looking. When clients visit our site, they’re impressed.

How did Bachoo perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with them is very easy. We’ve had a very good experience, and all our projects were finished on time, with our questions addressed and requests completed.

For the first project, they helped us create a mobile-responsive version, with UX. We had our own concept, and they made some propositions that changed our vision. In the end, it came out much better than we expected.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their creativity and their sense of responsibility are very impressive. They do everything on time, and whenever we made a request to shift the schedule—to deliver some parts 1–2 weeks early—they were flexible and brought results as required.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing in particular that they need to improve. We’ve worked with three different design managers across our projects with them and everything was quite good with all of them. We had no problems or misunderstandings at any time.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Look through their portfolio and see whether you like the work. You can be sure that the same quality will be delivered for your own projects.

I’m the COO of and a partner of a marketing agency working with crypto projects. We do marketing and growth hacking for different companies in the crypto space.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bachoo?

We needed to stand out, and we decided that we couldn’t just have a list of services. We needed a business card that people would remember.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bachoo handled both development and design, the latter of which was quite complex and motion-oriented. It would’ve been quite hard to showcase it without the development. My partners were skeptical of the original design, but I have a background in the industry and I understood that it would come alive with motion.

We could see some of the technologies they were using as demos, and they came up with ideas. Technically, we couldn’t do the design without the development in this case; we had to approach the two as a combined step. The site was based on WordPress. The technologies used on the design side included Sketch, an editor, and InVision for prototyping. Bachoo built and integrated a 3D component into the website, which interacts with the gyroscope on a mobile.

What is the team composition?

We worked with an art director, a designer, two developers (one frontend and one backend), and a project or account manager, who handled all the communication.

How did you come to work with Bachoo?

I’d worked in design myself and I knew some people and companies in the area. I heard a lot of good things about Bachoo’s art director, and I talked to them. We decided to go with them based on the quality of their past work.

How much have you invested with them?

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with Bachoo in December 2017, and the engagement concluded in July 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been nominated for “Mobile Site of the Year” on Awwwards.com. Bachoo did well with the desktop version, but they overdid themselves with the mobile one. We previously had a much simpler site, and although we haven’t had too many more leads since then, it’s allowed us to raise our image in a way. It looks much more expensive, and we get asked about what we do more frequently. We didn’t see any large traffic spikes after launching the site, but it’s removed all questions about our pricing model and everything else. We’ve been asked by partners about our designer.

How did Bachoo perform from a project management standpoint?

I liked their constant responsiveness. They never made me feel like one of many clients, but also, they didn’t have the type of rigidity that the corporate agencies I’d worked with in the past had. We went through multiple iterations of everything, we told them what we didn’t like, and, at some point, they basically scrapped everything and restarted from scratch. I was surprised that they didn’t just try to sell us what they’d already done, but went for a new option, to actually accomplish something.

There were only three people responding from our side, and we were all on the same calls. Plus, we didn’t have too many calls, only three per week, when we first started. In the end, they handled the full deployment to our server.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciated their patience and their attention to detail. I was speaking the same language as Bachoo’s team while working with them. I didn’t need to explain why small details mattered to me. They were fine with just fixing stuff and coming up with something themselves.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could be much better at planning and risk management in general. I’ve given them some advice on this. They still feel like artists, in a way, and doing business is not about art, but about getting the client through a very rigid process. This is something they could still work on – making their process stricter.

Clients with a product should hammer down the details of their business process with Bachoo.
