• Project Description: The Unified Portal is a Single Page web application built for Insurance company, designed to serve agents and partner companies. It aims to provide a seamless user experience by offering multiple reusable components. The application is easy to use, thoroughly tested with unit tests, and built with a cloud-native architecture.

We had a really important customer and we needed someone reliable to take over the project.

We found them via Clutch and the moment we established contact with them, initially via email and then on the call, we were able to see how professional, responsible and easy-going they are.

There were 2 developers - strong medior and strong senior developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They were able to join the project in 2-3 weeks from the moment we agreed on everything. They adapted quickly, showed genuine interest in the project and showed their true expertise through multiple sprints, teams sessions, actual work and helped our customers reach their milestone according to the roadmap.

From the beginning we had a very good and open relation and we communicated clearly about everything that was going on on the project. AVS Solutions team delivered everything in a timely manner with high quality!

The two experts that were assigned to the project were very professional. They left a great impression with their expertise, with their responsibility and we were impressed how well they integrated into the team and how quickly they adapted to the new environment, being able to understand the story behind the project and contribute to it!

Data Science Conference is one of the leading Franchises dedicated to Data Science & AI worldwide. It is a multidisciplinary conference with an abundance of talks, discussions, workshops, and hands-on tutorials. We have organized Data Science Conference since 2015. My position is Founder & Managing Director.

For what projects/services did your company hire AVS Solutions, and what were your goals?

We needed to create an app for online streaming for the Conference. We had 2 major issues with the already created solutions:

1. They were way too expensive for the quality they offer
2. Implementation of change was not possible or was too expensive as well.

We hired AVS Solution to create a joint App for Online Livestreaming, which can easily manage more than 3000 attendees who can watch parallel streams and can mingle between themselves through messaging system.

SOLUTION

How did you select AVS Solutions and what were the deciding factors?

We got a personal recommendation from our Conference Ambassador from UK. Also, we heard about AVS Solutions when they won "Microsoft Challenge" which was part of the conference Sinergija 2019. The main deciding factors were trust from recommendation and clear & sound communication from the very start from the people who work at AVS Solutions.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The project had 3 steps:

• Planning & Functionalities definitions
• Design of the App/WordPress site
• WordPress Development & Streaming stress testing

The key deliverable was the WordPress site for online Livestream, which was able to sustain over 3000 unique visitors, with their profiles and the possibility to communicate between themselves.

Technology which was used is WordPress, but also PHP, JS & some part of code integration with HTML & CSS.

We had a project manager who worked with us. Also, behind the scenes, we had 4 people who created the solutions - 3 Developers & 1 DevOps.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We got feedback from the users (attendees), as well as from the company who was in charge of the production of the Conference - that this solution was one of the best things they have seen in 2020 - in terms of Online Conferences. This had helped us to start the Franchise in the US, Australia and to get some early sponsors for our other events.

I can only speak from the side of our communication. We had bi-weekly and, closer to the project DL, weekly meetings. They have agreed to use GSuite and Slack for communication because we use this technology. We didn't have a look into the code itself - that was not necessary for us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have literally lived this project together with us. Because of the uniqueness of the Conference industry project implementation - we had worked together 24/7 in the last week of the project - including weekends. They did everything with 110% capacity.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

To be completely honest, I don't believe that something should be done differently from the side of AVS Solutions. We could be better in our internal communication - to stay completely honest, but they managed to handle us.

AVS Solutions created a web app specifically for us. The platform helps us make decisions such as where and when to design a new distribution center. It allows us to input different scenarios and models to see possible outcomes and costs.

The partnership began before I joined the company.

We began working with them around 2008, and the collaboration is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

AVS Solutions has greatly impacted our business with the app. It makes things easier logistically by helping us figure out the best timing and location for new distribution centers. Throughout the project, they’ve worked quickly to resolve issues or questions that arise.

How did AVS Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is very responsive and helpful. We communicate via email most of the time, but we also have occasional phone calls. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are flexible and willing to implement any changes or additional functionalities that we request. They work quickly and deliver high-quality solutions, and their prices are competitive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s not critical, but it would be nice if they had emergency support on the weekend.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Before we completed the portal, pulling reports would take days. Now, it only takes 3–4 hours. It’s a big step forward for our company.

How did AVS Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We use email and phone for communication. They respond very quickly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The best thing about them is that they really try to understand the process. They’re not just IT personnel, they do everything they can to learn about our industry. They understand all of my requests and have helped refine the reporting process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They always try to do better and better. They’ve given me great ideas to improve our whole process, but we couldn’t follow all of their recommendations because we’ve had some financial issues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’ve done a great job. All you have to do to succeed is to let them do their job and foster a collaborative relationship.

I’m the country manager of Yokogawa; our main business is oil and gas. We deliver and handle care from bio-level one instrumentation to level three solutions and software implementation.

We needed some specialized software for making reports.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AVS Solutions designed everything for our custom software. They compiled it to make automatically generated reports. The solution can also be linked to other software. It collects all the information from the refinery and puts it into the database. Then, the solution does reconciliation of the whole refinery based on energy products such as steel, electricity, nitrogen, and anything else related to production.

How did you come to work with AVS Solutions?

They were recommended by one of our engineers as a team that could do the job quickly.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around June 2016, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The software is very good. We’re discussing the use of this software for projects with some of our affiliates. The AVS Solutions team went to the refinery to understand the process and speak with the people who would use the software in order to do the best job.

How did AVS Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re proactive. We have some meetings in person but also communicate via email and Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re professional, flexible, and dependable. Their team is always well-prepared for any discussions we have as well as any tasks we give to them. They work quickly through the delivery stage.

No, I can’t think of anything.

I’m the ICT director for a real estate property evaluation company. We work with everything from small to large industrial properties. We’ll either visit or statistically calculate the value of those buildings. I’m responsible for all of our IT operations.

What challenge were you trying to address with AVS Solutions?

Our team is specialized in backend Java systems. We needed to extend our capabilities into frontend work, in particular Angular, but also iOS and other systems. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

AVS Solutions provides us with frontend development resources, so their team members work under our leadership on a variety of projects. Most of the time, we describe and discuss the project specs, and they give us a fixed price, then begin the development. We work closely together, as our own team develops the backend, and they’re responsible for the frontend. Most of the time they work in Angular. 

They’re heavily invested in quality assurance — they write their own test scripts based on our specifications, and develop a resource to check their code before delivery.

What is the team composition?

We work with a different number of people depending on the size of the projects, but the maximum number is usually four people.

How did you come to work with AVS Solutions?

Someone we knew worked with the owner of AVS Solutions. We reached out to them to ask if they would be willing to do some small projects for us, and our collaboration grew from there. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working for them for at least six years.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

By working with AVS Solutions, we don’t need to have additional specialized knowledge within our own team, so we’re able to really extend our own team. At this point, they do almost all of our frontend development — they’re an excellent resource. We’re extremely satisfied with our engagement.

On the whole, they’re really helpful in assisting us with making decisions on the frontend level, so we don’t make any mistakes. They make sure responsive design is achievable. The team delivers really high-quality products for an acceptable price on an acceptable timeline. 

How did AVS Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re always in contact. We use Jira, Skype, and screen sharing. If we have something urgent, they’ll work hard to deliver it quickly, so we’re very satisfied with that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re really open and honest in the discussions they have with us, especially in terms of timing. Once everything is decided upon, they deliver exactly when they say they will. Also, the team’s Angular knowledge is really impressive. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve run into issues with our separate project management systems not always being in sync, but we’re meeting soon to sort that out, which should be helpful. On their part, they’re really top-notch. They’ve made some really great products and they continue to do so.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Our native languages are Dutch and French, though we write specs in English. When we share screens, we sometimes forget to change our screen language to English, which can cause some confusion, so make sure you always remember to keep everything in English.

Also, take time to invest in them and in making the collaboration a true partnership. They’re really interested not just in delivering quality code but in understanding the business.

We had several meetings to discus about project goals and objectives. From there, Avs solutions delivered very good solutions that fir to our goals. After a few iterations, their team delivered final proposal that we accept immediately and finished very fast.
