Qualitative metrics such as feedback from my Partners and Colleagues, relative. UI/UX was at the heart of the process.

The items were delivered promptly with a cadence of turnaround that allowed me to cross fertilise feedback in between. Ida was a very helpful and responsive contact point, providing flexibility to ensure that any later timelines in delivery were the result of (my being given the opportunity for) additional edits that few other service providers would have allowed for.

The customer service, insofar as patience and communication to support the best execution possible for the client.

I had minor instances over the lifecycle of the project, in which I had to make recommendations (even if not corrections) on my side to enhance the product, hence nothing outside of the usual project lifecycle. The responses were always well met, and optimization ensued.

I’m the owner of a lifecycle marketing agency. We provide digital marketing services.

What challenge were you trying to address with Avelts?

We needed help with web design and development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we had a discovery call with Avelts to walk them through the project’s details and decide how to work together. During this process, we provided them with a high-level description of the look we were going for, and they filled in a lot of the gaps. Although we already had a logo and a general color palette, we didn’t have set brand guidelines. Then, they took our logo and enhanced it.

After that, Avelts provided us with a mock-up design of our website’s homepage. I gave them feedback, and we went back and forth to define how we wanted that page to look. Once we decided on the homepage design, they took its aesthetics and design elements and applied them to the rest of the website so that it had a cohesive design. They used Figma to create the designs.

During the design process, Avelts ensured that the site was on brand for what we were going for. Then, they provided us with mock-ups for each page of the website, one main page at a time, for me to provide feedback and ask for edits. Finally, they developed our site in WordPress, and we decided to move our hosting services to theirs for an affordable fee.

Our website is primarily information-driven, so it has several different sections describing our services and past work, as well as a section about us. The site also has a section where visitors can schedule a call with us by submitting a form and a map of where we operate.

What is the team composition?

I collaborated directly with Ida, who delegated everything to her team. However, I don’t know how large that team was.

How did you come to work with Avelts?

We found them on Upwork. During the proposal phase, we talked to a few different agencies over Upwork. We felt that Avelts could fulfill all the requirements for our project, and Ida seemed very professional, kind, and easy to work with. Additionally, they offered a very reasonable price and provided some really interesting and relevant recommendations during our introductory call, which impressed me. Thus, we decided to go with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2022, and the project concluded in January 2023. However, they still provide us with ongoing, light-touch support on a regular basis.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Avelts’ work, we’re now able to promote our services and agency partnerships using a very professional website. Our partners are very happy to be included and promoted on our website. Moreover, the quality of their development work was great — I can’t recall any technical failures.

Thus far, I haven’t seen an increase in our site traffic or click-through rate. However, as our search engine ranking goes up, I expect to see those increases in performance. Still, the initial results are promising because we haven’t seen a dip — our performance has stayed the same, and we expect it to continue to improve as we get in order our SEO.

How did Avelts perform from a project management standpoint?

Avelts was highly organized and did a stellar job at keeping track of the website’s different sections. Moreover, throughout the design review process, Avelts was extremely responsive to feedback. Overall, their project management capabilities exceeded my expectations.

As for communication, we decided to communicate primarily through email from the start of the project to keep things very simple. Aside from the email exchange, we had a couple of video conferences.

What did you find most impressive about them?

An area in which Avelts performed particularly well was communication and responsiveness. Ida was very quick to let me know that she had seen my request and edits. Additionally, they had a quick turnaround time for implementing changes. Another positive thing was that I gave them minimal creative direction, and they created a lot of great design elements on their own.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been great if we had scheduled biweekly or monthly video conference calls to share ideas more quickly and fluidly. Although those calls weren’t necessary for this project, they would have facilitated a smoother engagement. Still, that wasn’t their fault because I decided to communicate with them over email.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear on the specific copy and structure you’re looking for on your site so that Avelts can give you clear guidance on how to build those assets. Additionally, put a lot of trust in their ability to creatively implement your input on your website; they’ll make it look interesting and on brand.

I was looking for a vendor with extensive experience, high ratings, and a kind disposition. I was not disappointed! From our first conversation I felt very confident that this was the right company to go with.

After explaining my desires for the site, sharing sites I liked, and the necessary content pieces, the vendor set to work very quickly and efficiently. We began with a basic redesign which I was able to view before implementation. Then, the vendor set up a newsletter hosting site for me and made sure I understood how to maintain the site on my own.

I worked with one person, the lead designer, and she was outstanding.

I have received several compliments about the design! It is much easier to navigate and looks gorgeous.

The project manager kept me in the loop and maintained open communication to ensure the site was exactly what I desired. The workflow was excellent.

I was so pleased to work with a company that made sure not to overwhelm me with information. I'm no designer, so they made sure I was able to realistically maintain the site on my own. For me, that was priceless. The company truly cares about its customers!

Nothing! I would work with them again without question.

Avelts has worked on two sites for me. The first website was for a decade old company I owned that needed massive upgrading, from the user interface to the backend and to create a modern appearance for an aging brand. The second site is a brand new site design, a spin off from the previous website products and branding.

I used a subcontractor site, had two dozen applicants, and interviewed a small number of them. Avelts, with their past design, communication, and concepts had the best package at the price point I wanted to build. I also wanted a company that would allow me to be an active part of the project as I have done some web design on my sites in the past.

Avelts had me look at a number of sites to choose concepts, and then work with me to develop an overall design of the site. We set up deliverables and they began to work. Over time, the first site was rebuilt - this is a large site, with over two dozen downloadable videos, books, a shop database, years of blog posts. Avelts transitioned all of it into a modern tone. With the new site, it has been a similar concept, but on this project, Avelts worked with my new branding partner to execute the new branding concepts.

Constant communication, we use website communication, milestones. They are always on time, always deliver on time, and communicate needs well in advance.

They get it right - Avelts doesn't create it and then fight with me about changes. They include me and my inputs as we go on with the project. They keep their word, if there is a database issues, for example, that is found months later after a chance, they fix it and standby their work.
