I am the founder of Family Tech Innovations

For what projects/services did your company hire Argis Solutions, Inc., and what were your goals?

Family Tech Innovations developed a wearable voice monitor and hired Argis Solutions to develop a mobile app to communicate with the device over Bluetooth to send custom schedules and retrieve data logs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have worked with Argis on previous projects and found them to provide high quality software at a competitive rate.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Argis worked closely with the embedded firmware developer to define a data exchange format using protobufs. They provided wire frames for the app screens and then integrated UI assets developed around their wire frames.

Although they offer UI design, I had already selected a UI designer for the project. Argis then implemented a method to update the wearable device firmware using the app and has supported multiple firmware updates through updates to the mobile app.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Most of the work was provided by one software engineer. The technical lead at Argis was heavily involved with the initial architecture selection and was available for design reviews.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app was completed under the original project budget, so I was able to afford some additional nice-to-have features.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We managed the project with weekly meetings. The Argis team member was always prepared for the meetings. Slack was used later in the project, and Argis always responded promptly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Although Argis specializes in Augmented Reality and Geographical Information Systems projects, their software developers have skills that translate into different platforms and projects.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Some of the scrolling UI control elements didn't initially have obvious indicators that they allowed scrolling to other options. This was corrected when it was pointed out, so it wasn't a major issue. It's just one of the few things I could remember that needed improvement.
