I needed support to develop an application for iOS and Android devices.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Apptitude has laid out a road map of how I wanted my app to function and went through a detailed process of each individual screen. The Apptitude has started coding the app and delivered images in sprints, and we're currently getting close to launching the app next month. I initially had an idea for the app, and The Apptitude has helped me bring it to life with their expertise. 

The team has shared the app's road map through Adobe, a social media companion app that goes along with a mobile game and allows users to trade in-game collectibles. The app also allows users to complete sets to earn rewards inside the game.

I found The Apptitude through a Google search. I did a broadened search to get quotes from different development companies.

I've spent around $12,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with The Apptitude in September 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My standards might be a little high because I'm investing so much of my personal money, and I want to ensure that the app is done correctly the first time because I aim to use it as a supplemental income. Some quality issues have arisen, and I've asked The Apptitude to change them. 

One of the reasons the project has taken so long is that I'm really nitpicking during the planning stage and have been involved in the entire process. The Apptitude has accepted my help and comes back to me when they require feedback. The app is coming along nicely, and I'm looking forward to launching it next month. I have high hopes that the app will go well and that I'll get enough users to provide the desired ad revenue income. 

How did The Apptitude perform from a project management standpoint?

The Apptitude's overall service has been prompt and with a high level of communication. The project's timeline has been appropriate. We started collaborating with The Apptitude through Google Docs to see the project's timeline, and I have the project manager's personal number with whom I communicate 2–3 times a week. 

After the team delivers milestones, we meet within 24 hours via phone call, Zoom meeting, or Microsoft Teams meeting. We share our screens to review my notes and ensure the next milestone will include the changes I request.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Apptitude's best quality is their communication and customer service.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'd like The Apptitude to provide more transparency regarding the costs of building the app. For instance, I didn't know about the costs of purchasing server space in AWS and purchasing a developer license for iOS and Android. I didn't know these costs weren't part of their initial quote. Luckily, I've been able to take care of them, but it would've been nice to know about these payments upfront. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I suggest having constant communication with The Apptitude's project manager and communicating your desires and vision as precisely as possible. This will help the team know where you want your app to go and how you want it to function correctly.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Apptitude?

We needed support to develop our application.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, I shared my idea with The Apptitude after signing an NDA to discuss if it was a viable app idea. We then discussed the services they could provide and created a development process. After negotiating our contract, I worked with The Apptitude's creative lead, who designed a logo and defined the app's color scheme and design. Then, I worked with the development lead, who helped me set up wireframes and move the application into the alpha phase. 

The app is in the alpha phase, and The Apptitude has just completed a landing page website. The app will be available for Android and iOS devices and features a specialized AI assistant to have human-like conversations with users.

What is the team composition?

Shane (Senior Business Consultant) is my main point of contact. He oversees the entire project, and I negotiated the contract terms with him. I've also worked with the creative lead, who manages the creative side of the project. Although I've never met them, he has worked with designers and graphic artists to create my app's design concepts. Now, I'm working with the head of development, and he's also working with a development team that helps build the code. 

I'll eventually work with an AI development team. Each phase of the project has a dedicated team, and I work with the head of each department to oversee and approve work. 

How did you come to work with The Apptitude?

I found The Apptitude on a website where users can give information and get in contact with service providers. I chose The Apptitude because they were the most transparent and honest company I spoke with; I felt like other people I talked to were only trying to sell me something. I've worked in customer service and had sales jobs before, and I don't like being sold to. I knew what I wanted, and I liked how Shane presented himself and how concise he communicated.
How much have you invested with them?

I've spent around $20,000 so far and plan to pay over $25,000 on the overall project. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We launched the landing page a few days ago, and the app is in the alpha phase. When the site was ready to launch, everyone I shared it with said it looked incredible, professional, and top-notch. As The Apptitude advances in development, I've seen their work is of good quality. For me, it's easy to spot second-rate work regarding software since I've worked on graphic design. I've been satisfied and impressed at every step of the process.

How did The Apptitude perform from a project management standpoint?

The Apptitude has been communicative throughout the project and offers good teamwork. The team has been pretty good at managing the project and meeting deadlines. The initial deadline wasn't met, but that was mostly my fault due to my hang-ups during the design phase. I was very specific with changes and know it's difficult to translate my vision into design during a creative process.

The Apptitude took that feedback well and never gave an attitude. The icon design phase took longer since we reviewed around 12–16 icon groups. The team uses Teamwork.com to collaborate, and we communicate via text threads and Google Meet calls.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Shane has been the best. He's the reason I decided to work with The Apptitude because he has been upfront and honest every step of the project. When I was searching for a service provider, I felt other companies were only trying to sell me their services. Shane didn't do that, and he has been quick to address any miscommunication that has happened. He has killed it all around.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm mostly impressed with The Apptitude's communication and work quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything the team can improve. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I suggest calling The Apptitude and starting a conversation because they're easy to communicate with. The team has been transparent with me and has a good attitude.

I'm the founder of Healing Paws, an app for therapy animals. My app acts like a hub for therapy animal providers to connect with people who would benefit from a therapy pet visit.

I needed someone to build this app for me.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, The Apptitude worked on the app's design. They put together a service package that included the app design and the different screens required. Then, they presented the design to me, which included the branding and logo for the app.

After the app's design, The Apptitude created a website for this app. Then, their team walked me through the user journey to define the functionality. We went through how a user would set up their profile, request a pet visit, upload the required certificates, and use the map to find therapy pets near their location. Since then, The Apptitude has built my app for iOS and Android devices.

Although the app is now complete and available on the app stores, I'll continue working with The Apptitude for maintenance and bug-fixing as needed. All of my future app designs will go through them. Moreover, they've helped me put together some social media ads.

We've just launched the app, so we currently have less than a dozen users. However, I've been spreading the word a lot. Overall, The Apptitude's work has exceeded my expectations.

How did The Apptitude perform from a project management standpoint?

The Apptitude has delivered on time and on budget. As with any other large design and development projects, there have been hiccups along the way. However, their team has communicated very well with me and let me know what's going on and what obstacles we've faced. Overall, everything has been great.

We communicate via phone calls, emails, and text messages. We also use Google Docs and Zoom to collaborate. On top of that, The Apptitude has put together slideshows and presentations for me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Apptitude's biggest strength is their app development work. The app development portion of their work has been really nice.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been great if I had the opportunity to see some of the apps they've created. When I was deciding on which company to work with, I would have liked to see some examples of their past work.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Trust the process and understand that delays and hiccups are totally normal when working with large companies. Moreover, give yourself some grace and understand that you'll be dealing with a foreign language — it was foreign to me, anyway. When I started this project, the tech world was a totally difficult place for me. However, The Apptitude has done a wonderful job holding my hand and getting me through it.

I'm the founder and CEO of a mobile app company. Our mobile app is targeted towards making brand ambassador deals with college athletes and local businesses.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Apptitude?

We needed help with mobile app development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Apptitude is our app development team. They've helped us with app development and launch support. Our app has profiles for businesses and athletes, so the team has created two different UI, one for each. On our app, businesses can post job offerings, and athletes can browse through jobs and apply for them. Therefore, The Apptitude has also built features like application forms and push notifications for both user types.

Our app also has a feature to create Zoom meetings, as well as a calendar feature to keep up with those meetings. Moreover, it has a payment-processing feature. The Apptitude has created a section to track how much each athlete has made, as well as how much each business spends on these brand ambassador deals. On top of that, our app has a subscription-based model, where users can pay a little bit more money to access extra features regular users can't.

Overall, The Apptitude has built our app from the ground up. Currently, we're close to the project completion. This app has been created for both iOS and Android devices.

What is the team composition?

I've worked directly with three teammates from The Apptitude, but they have a team of eight members working on this project. The people I've been in contact with include the person who did the initial pitch and two project managers.

How did you come to work with The Apptitude?

I just searched for app developers on Google and found them, but I don't remember if the page I found was Clutch. Then, I simply submitted a request, and they contacted me. The team had a very good pitch presentation and seemed really invested. Moreover, they had a good team onboard and were a little more flexible in their pricing than others, so they were able to work with me in that regard.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent between $15,000–$20,000.

We've been working together since August 2023.

We have yet to launch the app, so we don't have results. Overall, the app has turned out to be really good, indicating that The Apptitude is doing a great job.

How did The Apptitude perform from a project management standpoint?

The Apptitude is very responsive, delivers on time, and if anything is going to take longer than anticipated, they give us a heads-up.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Apptitude does a really good job of understanding the client's vision. They're great at taking feedback and making as many corrections and changes as needed. Moreover, they're very client-focused, so they always try to create the best project the client is looking for. They're also flexible and adaptive, which makes them really good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I know that The Apptitude has had a couple of internal hiccups throughout the project, so I can only advise them to ensure that hiccups don't affect project timelines or communication. Both those instances have happened to a small degree, so they could work to improve that.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be proactive and make sure to tell them what you're looking for so that they can go from there. They're usually as responsive as their clients, so their time is a reflection of what you put in. If you reach out to them, they'll reach out to you, so meet them with the energy you want them to meet you.
