We went through the traditional steps for milestones that included wireframes, ux, initial functionality and finally user testing.

The Team was timely and great with communication throughout the project. They were also able to pivot with new directions very well that were often times pretty complex to add in!

What challenge were you trying to address with ANTLR Interactive?

We had some old code that two people prior to me had used to put together several websites. None of us were familiar with the language, so we used ANTLR Interactive’s services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve given ANTLR Interactive access to the code and let them work from there. I touch base with them a couple of times a week to ensure everything is good. They go directly to our sites when they update their programming. 

For specific design suggestions, they’ve redesigned how data is collected from users on one of our websites. This is to comply with new state requirements for user data collection. The team has reconfigured everything to be more logical and updated all reports created using the data. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly work with Kyle (Owner). 

How did you come to work with ANTLR Interactive?

We posted a notice on our website asking for anyone who might have some background in the programming language we were using. Several companies got back to us, but I felt most comfortable dealing with Kyle and ANTLR Interactive. We had several video meetings showing them what the websites looked like and what changes were necessary. The engagement started from there. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with ANTLR Interactive in August 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Regarding the main website that ANTLR Interactive has worked on, the six people who use it regularly get data in and out much more quickly than before. There are situations when end users ask us to do something in the afternoon and have it ready the next morning. Kyle has been able to make that happen. 

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

ANTLR Interactive meets deadlines and stays on budget. We use GitHub to manage the project. To communicate, we use Teams and emails.

Their work is thorough and quick.

ANTLR Interactive helps us enhance, solve problems, design, code, and maintain our existing Ruby on Rails web app. Regarding the process, I have meetings with them to let their team know the kind of enhancements we’re looking for and the features we want. After that, they come up with an implementation proposal that we later accept to move forward.

I’ve been working with two members of ANTLR Interactive’s team, including a web designer and one of their founders, who is also a developer.

We found ANTLR Interactive on LinkedIn, and after talking to other potential providers, we chose them because they seemed like the best fit due to their knowledge and information background.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve been testing the system, and ANTLR Interactive’s work is excellent. Their coding is solid and stable, and the platform does what we want it to do.

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

ANTLR Interactive’s team always delivers on budget and within deadlines, and whenever they aren’t able to fulfill those requirements, they let us know in advance so we can decide if we’re ok with that. In addition, we have good and frequent communication with them, so I’m always updated on the progress of every task they’re working on. Regarding tools, we use phone calls, email, and Zoom and track the project’s progress through statements of work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

ANTLR Interactive is incredibly responsive to our critical problems. Whenever we send them a message, we hear back from them in less than 15 minutes, and they solve any situation in under 10 hours.

I don’t think they can improve anything about their work. We’re delighted with their services and what they’ve done for us.

We’d already started the app before we met them, but we needed help with the design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with ANTLR Interactive to build our product and make it better. The app allows people to have their business cards on their phones, and it’s for iOS and Android. In the beginning, one of the main things they did was build it out so people didn’t need the app to view the business card and open it in browser view.

What is the team composition?

We work with a designer and a programmer.

How did you come to work with ANTLR Interactive?

I searched for someone in the Pittsburgh area; I wanted someone local so I could talk to them if I needed to. I found ANTLR Interactive, and they weren’t too far away. Afterward, I spoke with them, and we started working together. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent roughly $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2021, and our relationship is ongoing.

We’re growing — over the week, we get between 5–10 new sign-ups. On the other hand, we’ve had minor issues. Depending on the severity, we discuss it, and they act accordingly.

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management has gone very well. We use Asana and Zoom as tools and email and phone calls to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their flexibility is outstanding. Moreover, they’ve done an excellent job. Most of the time, everything has been a pretty positive experience. If we have something in mind, we discuss it, and they offer feedback. In general, everything has fallen in line with what we expect.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We don’t have anything constructive to say because they just do the job.

Communicate as much as you can — the better you do it, the better results you’ll get out of them.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of Troutwood, a financial tech company that builds personal financial planning applications.

What challenge were you trying to address with ANTLR Interactive?

We were looking to expand the number of developers working on our product, but we didn’t have the need for full-time hires. We were able to partner with ANTLR to fill that gap.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our team has worked in conjunction with ANTLR on all three of our applications, in both design and development. They’ve focused on UX/UI on the design side and programming and functionality on the development side. Our apps have been developed for both iOS and Android.

We’ve worked with two people, Kyle (Co-Founder) on the development side and Ben (Co-Founder) on the design side.

We interviewed a number of external contractors to fill our need. By the end of the process, we felt we’d connected best with ANTLR Interactive.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We haven’t done any marketing or brand awareness recognition, so we only have qualitative feedback at the moment. ANTLR proved to be great partners. We consider them an extension of our own team.

They took a lot of time to understand our goals and mission. They fit well with our team, and they’re very capable and qualified. The team checked all the boxes we look to check when making an external hire.

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well, given the expectations we have for our tools. ANTLR did a great job at being nimble and working with our team to make changes.

The team integrated into two of our weekly team meetings and are part of our Slack channel.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The people and the personalities distinguish ANTLR from other providers. Kyle and Ben aren’t just qualified developers — we also had a strong connection with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. Realistically, these things take time, particularly if you want to do them well. I personally genuinely enjoy working with Kyle and Ben and I think the process has gone as well as it could have on all fronts.

It depends on the organization and your goal, but for a company like us, I think it's to communicate clearly and emphasize your goals and timelines, so you put ANTLR in a position to succeed.

I’m the CEO and founder of Doctors Report, we utilize claimed data that has been de-identified to provide analysis of 15 common illnesses and their prevalence in zip codes throughout the US.

What challenge were you trying to address with ANTLR Interactive?

Initially, we hired ANTLR Interactive to design our website, but they’ve played a key part in several other projects as well.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In addition to designing our website, they developed a mobile app or iOS and Android. One of the most predominant features on each of the platforms is the mapping feature and displays the data on a regional, local and national basis. I provided various types of analytical procedure and ANTLR Interactive would test them to see how they would be executed on the map.

At the moment, they’re maintaining the website because it collects and warehouses billions of bits of information. Meanwhile, we’re also rejuvenating the AI behind the data analysis.

What is the team composition?

Kyle (Principal Consultant, ANTLR Interactive) is my main point of contact, and he has a design partner. There are others working on the project, but I don’t interact with them directly.

How did you come to work with ANTLR Interactive?

Along with a few other agencies, ANTLR Interactive submitted a proposal and bid on the project, providing their ideas and concepts as to how the website might look. I initially went with another agency, but they weren’t able to create the mapping feature. As a result, I went back to ANTLR Interactive and they’ve done a much better job.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $200,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working on the project in October 2017 and launched in February 2018. However, the project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

When the app was released, we received a lot of national and local publicity. Since we’ve been improving the platform, I’ve received a lot of emails expressing satisfaction with the site and the data. This was a very complex project. We didn’t have a straight forward road map, but ANTLR Interactive was able to create their own. Overall, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback.

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint?

Other agencies I talked to said that they couldn’t complete the project in less than a year, but ANTLR Interactive completed everything in under six months. We met periodically, but primarily communicated over email or phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a can-do attitude. No matter what the challenge is, they want to work on it and figure out a way to accomplish it. While some of their competitors want to do the same things they’ve done over and over again, ANTLR Interactive wants to try new things. They’re exceptional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing stands out to me.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Their team is ethical, honest, and hard-working. The challenge you face when dealing with professionals is that you have to be professional yourself and stay organized. The good news is that ANTLR Interactive will help bring out your best self.

We needed a partner to work on the UI/UX of our website and mobile app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The core application had already been built, but after we partnered with ANTLR Interactive, we decided to redesign the app and take it in a different direction. We worked closely together to come up with an idea that would allow users to more easily interact with the app. ANTLR Interactive made the UI/UX more uniform across the iOS and Android apps, giving it more of a community feeling.

The app’s received positive feedback from our users, and no one’s said anything negative about the design. We’re pleased with what they built.

They worked incredibly fast. We could talk about a problem, and they’d have a mockup the next day.

They could’ve engaged more thoroughly with our clients to have a better idea of what they wanted.

Take time to conduct deep customer research at the beginning of your partnership. Get feedback on your wireframes from both people inside and outside of your business. A small beta group will make your partnership much more effective.

We were looking for a vendor to help us develop a proprietary software in the behavioral health space.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ANTLR Interactive guided the entire development process from the early stages. We have a very complex backend and we wanted to have a user-friendly frontend, so ANTLR managed both for us. It's an evaluation tool for behavioral health care providers, but it allows everybody in the entire system of care to review the data and look at the outcomes. We have the outcomes and decision support analytics built into the software, so everybody involved in the client's care can tap into our software and review the comprehensive reports about programs and individual clients.

We have one main point of contact; in addition, we work with their user experience team.

We interviewed three or four different firms, and from the very first phone call, we realized that ANTLR was the best fit for us.

The product functions as we had expected. The design is very user-friendly and we get compliments from our users when we present the software at conferences or trade shows.  

How did ANTLR Interactive perform from a project management standpoint? 

They meet or exceeded all of our timelines, which gives us more time to test the software. We use Jira and Excel for project management. We have a strong QA process and we have regular meetings with them where we go over the features and bugs. We are developing a strong QA process, and we have regular meetings with them to go over the features and bugs.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They've become part of our team. They make valuable recommendations, but at the same time, they respect our opinions and direction.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing stands out. They’ve come to understand our business as we’ve grown, so our relationship continues to improve year after year.
