I’m the owner of Opuscule, a New York City-based agency with the drive for small businesses. From strategic website design to SEO, WordPress to eCommerce, we deliver results and meet the needs of our clients.

We were looking for a development partner that will help us turn designs into a fully functional WordPress website.

The goal was to redesign the old website to create custom coded templates and use premium plugins to easily replace text and images in the website's editable areas.

We worked on a few small changes to one of our projects in the past. They reached out to us just in time when we needed this type of service and decided to hire them.

Prior to the start, we scheduled a session to go through the brief together and unpack all the design and technological aspects of the project. We came up with a few solutions for the user-friendly navigation in terms of both code structure and website interactive elements.

With the scope well-defined, we drew an initial plan for future maintenance and the way in which the website should evolve. At first, we compared two alternatives for the deliverable. Static HTML was the first choice, but we soon came to the conclusion that the design needs to be coded as a custom WordPress template - that was for best for scalability and client-friendly editing.

Being able to deliver a full project, on time and under budget, allows my business to use projects like this as evidence of our reputation. When all parties are happy, we succeed.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We cooperated over Sketch files, with notes and guidelines put there. In the course of development, we stayed in touch over phone and email.

Their project management kept the communication in balance, sending regular updates and going the extra mile with suggestions on improvements. Despite the time difference, he was able to cover a good deal of New York business day and react to our requests in a timely fashion.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

When working with offshore companies, it's incredibly uncommon to be able to actually get someone on the phone; and if you do, there may be a substantial language barrier. Cut2Code was responsive, friendly, accessible and being able to talk on the phone put me at ease.

As the company grows, there might be a potential for additional subpages for case studies and services in offer.

Cut2Code created Adobe Illustrator designs and integrated them with the WordPress CMS. One of the most interesting functionalities they created was a project tagging system that helped users filter projects by industries, type of service, and marketing goals.

It's a bit too soon to fully estimate the result of our work, but we have gathered positive feedback. The website allowed us to refresh our look and present our achievements in an interesting, engaging way. That has helped us acquire new clients.

We were aiming to achieve a clear and easy to navigate website that we can use to effectively pass important AI-related information and describe the project we’re leading.

Cut2Code came to us recommended. We cooperated with them with several orders. We were satisfied with the results and came back with another project that was very important to us.

We started with the website’s design. We needed to create all webpages’ designs, with the exception of a homepage. We aimed at clarity and accessibility and were pleased with the results. Our feedback wasn’t very extensive. Similarly, the coding itself went very smoothly. The resulting website is fully responsive, based on a WordPress backend, we could use for content management.

The team consisted of one project manager, one designer and one developer. Everyone was always well-prepared and highly communicative.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Our area of business is quite complicated. Many people hearing about Artificial Intelligence visualize robots and think of unapproachable technologies involved. Communicating to people clearly what we do was a definite priority to us, which is why we aimed at a website explaining what AI is, what our business provides while sharing a large picture of positive aspects that our AI introduces to the hospitality industry. Thanks to our website being user-friendly and lacking stereotypical associations, it serves its role great by bringing forward the things we wanted to communicate to our users. We achieved all of our goals.

We are very pleased with the way this project was managed. It is mostly thanks to the excellent work of a Project Manager that not only coordinated everything with great precision but was also serving as a consultant. He was very helpful, reacted immediately when asked any questions and kept the deadlines assigned to other members of the C2C team.

We enjoy working with partners that aside from designing and coding can be a great help in terms of making suggestions and taking part in the decision-making process. Our project manager handled the vast majority of issues we encountered. The development team often participated in progress meetings. If we met any problems, we treated them efficiently together. Their team fully understood our business goals, kept their deadlines, responded instantly, and worked responsibly. They led us through the process with great precision, helping us discover our needs and optimize the website's functionalities.

Cut2Code thought outside the box, stayed on top of the project, and didn't constrain their capabilities. Thanks to their work, our new online shop is ready to handle forthcoming orders. Though we haven’t started trading yet, I'm confident the site will encourage online purchases and drive users to interact and with and share content.

Their project manager is very impressive. He’s always able to talk about my project, and if he doesn’t hear from me for a day or two, he'll call to find out how I’m doing. This ensures we keep the ball rolling. I greatly appreciate his ‘can-do’ attitude and initiative. Their services are comprehensive, so we haven’t had to find other providers.

I’m delighted with the business relationship I’ve developed with Cut2Code, particularly our two-way communication. They’re good listeners and encourage dialogue and idea sharing.

We needed web maintenance services for an end client's website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, I engaged with ambiscale (formerly Cut2Code) to maintain an end client's website. The team worked on small tasks and fixed some bugs. After some time, I gave them a new web development project from scratch with the design in Figma. The two projects were built on WordPress and used PHP, CSS, and JavaScript.

We worked with 6–7 teammates, including the CEO, a developer, a salesperson, and a project manager.

I found ambiscale on Clutch and contacted them after reading the reviews of several companies.

We spent between $15,000–$20,000.

We worked together from December 2022–October 2024.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

The project wasn't big for ambiscale (formerly Cut2Code), yet it took them about a year to complete. I ended my engagement with the team because I needed stable code and because of the bad work they did.

ambiscale (formerly Cut2Code) charged me for QA hours on both projects. After they told me they'd finished the project, I asked them to submit it for review. However, after digging out, I realized they hadn't done any QA on the project and felt very angry. After this, I requested evidence of the work done on the second project via email to understand why ambiscale charged for QA hours every month. ambiscale sent me a bizarre fake log of QAOL because they didn't have any real evidence to provide.

How did ambiscale (formerly Cut2Code) address the challenges that arose

I requested ambiscale to reimburse me for all the QA hours I had paid, but they refused to. I also sent them an email in the middle of the second project saying I wasn’t happy with the solution they provided, and they didn’t care. I spent so much time checking on ambiscale and addressing them to request changes, and they just didn’t care.

ambiscale delayed my project for over a year because I wasn't a big fish for them and didn't spend $100,000. The project was big for me but not for the team. This was the first time in my life I had such a bad experience with a software company.

How was project management handled?

 ambiscale's project management wasn't good; the project manager didn't check in with the developer.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Nothing.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I don’t think any new client should make a contract with ambiscale (formerly Cut2Code).

We always value our clients' feedback but do not tolerate lies. In this case, the review is completely detached from reality. This client initially approached us with a completely broken and non-functional e-commerce store developed by another provider. Our team worked tirelessly to restore functionality and resolve the issues, which led to the client expressing satisfaction with the outcome.

Following the success of that project, the client entrusted us with a second project, which we also delivered successfully and in line with his expectations.

As part of our standard process, every client is given 30 days after project delivery to submit any comments or report errors. In this case, no issues were reported during that time, and the client fully settled their invoice without raising concerns.
Recently, 10 months after we had decided to end our cooperation, he tried to blackmail us to gain a financial benefit. The matter was documented internally, and we are taking appropriate steps to address this situation in line with our commitment to fairness and transparency.

It is sad to see such a strongly negative review, especially when the feedback is provided anonymously. Constructive feedback fosters growth, but unsubstantiated claims damage trust and mutual respect.
