I’m the director of product management at a fantasy sports platform. We basically merge fantasy sports with stock-market gaming.

We already had a desktop version of our product, but we needed to create a mobile app version.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Algoworks helped us design and build a React Native mobile app for iOS and Android. Additionally, they provided QA and other technical support services for React Native development.

We worked with 5–6 people from Algoworks, including Manish (Senior Delivery Manager), a designer, an Android developer, an iOS developer, and a support developer. Additionally, they were capable of bringing support intermediary resources if needed, but I wouldn’t count them as part of the core team.

How did you come to work with Algoworks?

I had used Algoworks for several other projects, so I was already comfortable with their work and our relationship, so I hired them again for this project. Originally, another company referred them to me.

How much have you invested with them?

I spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June 2021–April 2022. Still, they provide maintenance and support if needed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Algoworks successfully delivered the app, and they were very accommodating to the scope creeps and direction changes that these kinds of projects entail.

How did Algoworks perform from a project management standpoint?

Algoworks’ project management was good. They delivered the app on time, which was very important for us, and they did exceptionally well managing the budget.

Manish’s performance was also exceptional; he was a rockstar. I could send them something during my afternoon, and he still answered despite being in a different time zone — I didn’t know when he slept.

Algoworks was very flexible and accommodating regarding our communication channels, and they used easy-to-use tools, including Basecamp, Jira, and BitBucket, to manage the project. We also had regular Zoom meetings and communicated via Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The difference between working with Algoworks and other offshore companies I’ve engaged in the past is a matter of trust. Originally, someone recommended them to me, and I didn’t know how it would be to work with them until I did. Since then, we’ve developed an excellent working relationship, and I no longer consider working with someone else for development projects.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Most Algoworks’ team is based in India, so there were language challenges because they didn’t understand the domain as well as we do; however, I wouldn’t call them language barriers. Still, it would have been great if they had better domain knowledge.

Additionally, it would be great if they worked more independently. When we’ve worked with them, we’ve needed to stay on top of the project to ensure that everything gets delivered. However, this isn’t specific to Algoworks; I’ve also experienced the same approach when working with various other offshore companies.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I absolutely recommend working with Algoworks, but be prepared to be hands-on and dedicated to the project, and ask for daily updates.

In 4–6 months, we’ll do the Android one.

We worked with four people, but our main contact was Manish (Senior Delivery Manager). Whenever we had concerns, we could just call or text him on Skype.

We found them on Google.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $16,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around November 2020, and the app was done in May 2021. If we need anything updated, we can go back to them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Currently, I can’t give you any metrics because we’ve been sitting on the project. However, our experience working with them was excellent.

How did Algoworks perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was great. They used Basecamp as a tool; we could check their work. For daily communication, we used Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were a one-stop-shop. We could do everything in one place; it was more convenient.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, everything went well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get the timezones right. We were based in Minnesota; sometimes, we’d mess up and give them the wrong time.

I’m the CTO of Bodmas Technology Pvt. Ltd., a retail analytics company. Our customer-facing product is an application that aggregates all coupons across different retailers and suppliers, and it has more than a million active users per month. My role involves taking care of the platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Algoworks?

We’d been working with a company to develop our iOS app, and we found lots of issues; there were bugs, and the app wasn’t scaling correctly, so we decided to switch providers. We hired Algoworks to build and maintain our iOS application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have a resource-based engagement with Algoworks. A dedicated resource takes care of our iOS application, working on a one-week sprint moel. Whenever we have a new feature or implementation, we provide them with the specs, detail the user stories with them, and plan the sprints accordingly. They’re also in charge of the UI/UX design. 

The team continuously adds new features and functionalities and rehashes the code. They’ve built a landing page and recently worked on an online shop feature. Currently, they’re refactoring a customer token feature. Whenever they deliver a new feature after a sprint, our in-house team tests it. 

Apart from that, we’ve had some ad hoc engagements as well. For example, whenever our Android app requires additional modification or something complicated comes up, we hire Algowork’s resources for consultancy services.

So far, we’ve worked with 3–4 people from Algoworks. At a minimum, we have one resource every month and a part-time project manager.

How did you come to work with Algoworks?

We found them through a reference. Friends of friends recommended Algoworks and two other companies, and we went through their websites and did some background research. We gave Algoworks a small project, and they did very well, so we decided to hire them.

We started working together around January 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Algoworks has integrated with our processes very well. More often than not, we have a good quality of release from them — bug-free and meeting all our criteria.

How did Algoworks perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re mostly good at project management. However, they’ve had to adjust timelines when something complicated has come up or if there have been gaps in our requirements. We use Azure DevOps to share tasks and Microsoft Teams and email for communication. The team logs into their timesheet daily. Based on the sheet, we qualify their billing monthly. Their resource works with our project manager, who assigns them tasks for every sprint.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with Algoworks’ responsiveness. Whenever we start anything, they’re there to help us within the stipulated time. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their collaboration. Ours is a remote engagement, and sometimes cooperation between our teams is challenging, such as when integrating the code.

You can engage Algoworks with a small task first, and their work satisfies you, move forward with them.

My dad and I have created a social media app during the COVID-19 pandemic called 4té.

What challenge were you trying to address with Algoworks?

We hired Algoworks to design and develop our app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Algoworks designed our social media app, handling everything from the design to coding. We initially presented them with our idea. Then, they created a spreadsheet outlining milestones to make the project happen. Simply put, they built on our ideas, making the development process a joint effort.

At present, the Algoworks team is building our website. It’s not a major project, but the site serves as a homepage for users. Beyond that, the team connected us with a great marketing company who helped design our screenshots for the app store. This was an added bonus which apparently came with our service. We then hired that company to manage our Instagram page and they have been doing a great job.      

In terms of features, our product is a talent app targeting users aged 13–35 years old. Users can go to our app to showcase their talent(s) and get their names out there. What sets us apart is that we don’t have an algorithm that prevents our users from being discovered. Users can also challenge each other on the app. Furthermore, our app is black-owned and created by a father-daugher team. 

Moreover, we’ve asked Algoworks to develop a back-end site where we can monitor all of our users. We can also add more genres, remove users, post banners and see metrics. Overall, we want to make the app a safe space for people to showcase their talents without feeling pressured or bullied which happens a lot on other social media platforms. The app is created for both Android and iOS devices. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with a great hands-on project manager, but he’s no longer with Algoworks; he’s moved on to another field. We’ve also worked with their great design team on our color schemes, icons, logo and page layouts. From there, we’ve collaborated with their tech team, which has done all the coding for our app. Overall I would say our team has consisted of at least 7-10 people.

How did you come to work with Algoworks?

My dad and I researched teams online; Clutch was one of the websites we used to find recommendations and app developers. We then interviewed about five companies, and Algoworks had the best presentation. It was informative, and the team was friendly. They also had great reviews; they were incredible right off the bat. As a result, we went with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $36,500. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in June 2020, and they delivered the app in April 2021. However, the engagement is ongoing; we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We can’t share any quantitative metrics now because we’re still working on the app’s marketing. However, we do have around 50 users, and our friends and families are excited about the product. They’ve even provided suggestions which we have implemented since. Overall, the quality and look of the app have generated positive feedback from them.

How did Algoworks perform from a project management standpoint?

The team has been amazing. They’re always hands-on, and their team members are go-getters. If they are unsure on how to do something, they research and find ways to do it. In other words, they never say no; they always find solutions, which is amazing. My dad is well-versed in the corporate world, and he notices many things. However, he loves the Algoworks team. He’s truly happy with them and so am I.      

What did you find most impressive about them?

Algoworks takes on the project as if the app is their own. They’re excited about it. Moreover, the team is extremely communicative — if they see something interesting, they’ll tell us about it. If we see something wrong, they’ll fix it so we don’t have to worry about it. 

On top of that, they’ve had the best pricing for the project. Other companies have quoted us around $100,000–$150,000. In addition, their VP is great. He takes time to talk to us. His team members are also great problem-solvers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The new project manager isn’t as communicative as our previous manager. As a result, we suggest that if we’re transitioning to a new manager, it’s better if we can meet them virtually first. That way, the transition will be a bit easier.

Go for it — engage Algoworks. You’re not going to get a better team, a better price, and a better quality of work.

We wanted to update our mobile app to expand and improve on its function. Our goal was to expand on our app's features as well as review our backend functioning.

We searched online for credible app developers and shortlisted 3. After speaking with each team about our aims for this project, we chose Algoworks based on their past projects, cost estimates, and organization.

We had a series of discovery meetings to develop an action plan while Algoworks performed a complete review of our backend code. Algoworks allocated many resources in helping us to accomplish our goals for these updates. We are very pleased with our final deliverables.

The team at Algoworks was easy to communicate with and provided updates regularly via Basecamp and email. They responded promptly to our inquiries and were sure to address any questions or concerns we had.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their organization was most impressive. They presented a clear plan of attack during our kickoff meeting and went above and beyond to keep us up to date.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Issue resolution could be improved for project timeline, as our actual project completion date fell a few months behind the initial estimate.

Upon completing this stage, they’ve launched the development process, ensuring that the platform is iOS- and Android-friendly. We’ve recently launched the platform, and upon its go-live, we’ve identified areas for improvement. They’re currently working on accomplishing the updates, and we’ve scheduled the app’s relaunch soon.

We haven’t introduced the product to our target audience yet, so there are no quantifiable metrics to share at this point. From our perspective, Algoworks has cooperated well with our team to address technical issues and implement changes to improve the efficacy of our platform. Upon our launch, we plan to gauge their team’s performance through the user feedback and the number of downloads we’ll secure.

We mainly communicate via email, phone calls, and Zoom meetings. Algoworks has phenomenal project management skills — they’re always willing to accommodate our queries and concerns.

What I find the most appealing about Algoworks is their adaptability. Apart from having a website that a universal audience can comprehend, they also integrate themselves easily into our processes.

I’m a correctional officer for New York State, and I’m the founder of FAKE IT, a photography editing app.

What challenge were you trying to address with Algoworks?

People have to buy new smartphones every four years because the battery dies, and it’s difficult to find replacements. Whenever they buy a new smartphone, they install new apps, so we wanted to leverage this by creating apps to compete in this market.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Algoworks helped me create a photography app for Android and iOS. Initially, I provided them with information about what I had in mind. After discussing the project, they gave me examples of things that I might want and need for my app.

From there, we selected which features would better fit what I wanted, and they helped me take the project step by step until completion. They were also in charge of designing the logo and the advertising collateral for the app.

I worked with a total of seven people from Algoworks. Initially, I contacted Sufal (Associate VP of Sales), and then I started working with Manish (Senior Delivery Manager), Ramneet (Associate Project Manager), and Arpit (Head of Mobile App Development).

I was looking to create something affordable, and I discovered that Algoworks’ development services were almost half the price of the development services we found in the US. I had seen their website and some examples of their work, and it all looked very good; I was really impressed. They offered what I was looking for.

I spent around $14,800. For the work that Algoworks did, their price was very good.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2020, and we finished the app in August 2021. However, I want to take the time and add more features to it in the future.

The work that Algoworks did was very good, and the app is great; it speaks for itself. The team was very professional, and they always completed the workload on time. The people I communicated with were very astute, and they knew what they were doing. I’m happy that I found them.

How did Algoworks perform from a project management standpoint?

I was very satisfied with Algoworks’ project management. As I also work for New York State, I sometimes can’t make it when I schedule an appointment. This issue was especially frequent this last year because some of my co-workers got sick, and others decided to retire, so we were short-staffed. However, Algoworks was very patient and willing to work around my schedule, which was great.

We used Basecamp to manage the project and communicate. I could connect with anyone from their team using that tool. Additionally, we used email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Algoworks’ patience was impressive. They had to work around my schedule, and my mind was changing all the time, so I appreciated their patience very much.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. They were a complete team, and they did a good job.

Communicate your idea clearly and stick with it. Additionally, acknowledge that sometimes the people working on your project will be in a different time zone.

Our company had a legacy deployment of Salesforce from our original company. It was outdated and bloated with old data. We hired Algoworks to assess our current needs and then optimize our instance of Salesforce to align to our go forward goals.

We search via the Salesforce marketplace for firms that could provide both consulting and system implementation. Algoworks had a number of great reviews and their capability description matched perfectly to our needs. During our initial interview we quickly determined that Algoworks was best suited to help us.

The overall project was rather straightforward. First they gathered stakeholder feedback and requirements. Second they performed an assessment our our existing Salesforce instance. Then they developed a remediation project plan to achieve our desired future state. Once they completed the remediation we went through a UAT process and then final acceptance.

Our Salesforce instance is now aligned completely to our current business and processes. Information is now readily available and we can properly leverage our information to manage the business and make future decisions.

The communication and interaction was seamless. We leverage conference calls and video chat and the Algowoks team was extremely responsive.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We greatly appreciated their deep understanding of Salesforce and how to apply our needs effectively..

The way they walk us through the process is outstanding. They're also friendly and talk us through everything as they mapped it out. They tell us alternate ways to think about handling the project and help us think through our decisions. It feels a lot more like a partnership than someone just doing what we ask them to do.

The COVID-19 pandemic played a role in it, but we thought it would only take three months, and it's taking longer.

Don’t design anything ahead of time. Let them help you through the process — they know what they’re doing more than you do, especially if it’s your first app. Also, use their suggestions to make a better product for you — they’re very friendly and have our interests at heart.

We have a complex CPQ system that requires precise functionalities, and Algoworks has done their part in delivering all the solutions we need to improve our product matrix. Our internal staff and clients have already shared positive feedback on their experience while using our new system, and they’ve acknowledged the difference between this and our outdated CPQ platform.
