I am the Managing Director of 4040 Media. We operate through 2 brands; Wyzowl and Project.co. Wyzowl is an animated video agency. We're become one of the biggest global brands in the market. And Project.co is a project management software tool that forms the backbone of our agency and is also used by many other businesses worldwide.

We had developed Project.co V1 and had been using it internally for our own business and had also sold it as a SaaS tool for other businesses to use. But it used old code and had a lot of limitations. We hired BinarCode to develop V2 from scratch with a brand new code base. our aim was to take what we had learned from V1 and create a flexible tool that removed all the limitations of V1.

We had meetings with a few development and after careful analysis we decided that BinarCode was the best suited for us. They had a lot of experience with the technologies we planned to use. They had great communication and were highly organised. They were passionate about our project and we knew we weren't just going to be a number, we were going to be able to have importance for them and we could grow together as businesses.

BinarCode had a fresh slate and had the unenviable task of creating a new project management tool that could stand aside big competitor tools that had been around for decades and had hundreds of millions in funding.

We have worked with 6 people from the BinarCode team. Their roles include: Project Manager, Frontend Developer, Backend Developer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We had used Project.co in our business for over 10 years and they were tasked with moving all data from V1 to V2 without losing any data. We migrated thousands of projects with hindreds of thousands of parts. They managed to do this successfully without any data loss and all the old data works effevtively in V2.

BinarCode manage work through Jira & Slack however, we are now planning to move all our work to Project.co. Binarcode are highly organised and very timely. They provide regular updates so we're always aware of the progress of the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are committed to providing the best solution, not just a solution. When we suggest things they are happy to improve upon the ideas and push for the best outcome rather than just working on task by task.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I am very happy with the way BinarCode work. I think they are managed well, have a great team and provide great work. They are a bunch of thourally nice people and I don't have any areas of critique.

Binarcode was initially hired for a small project to 'polish up' an existing MVP version. However, we soon realised we had found a great team that worked well with our backend developers. So we decided to start the entire project from scratch and capitilise on Binarcodes Vue.js experience. The project has now extended to the development of our website.

2 senior backend developers from our company, 1 senior designer, and 4 frontend developers in Binarcode (2 senior, 1 mid level, 1 junior).

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The work BinarCode has done has enabled us to go to market with a much stronger offering, earlier. They also sourced a designer for us and worked well with him to revamp our entire UI/UX. This had a massive impact on the success of the project as they had a great working relationship with the designer already.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Excellent workflow, predominantly via Slack and daily updates (PRs) shared via Netifly. Very strong use of Jira which made the project a dream to manage, especially with a full distributed and remote team. I found Netifly particularly helpful as a non-technical manager - I could visualise the daily work immediately. No communication issues at all. Very responsive. They pushed hard to meet tight deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The speed at which BinarCode became productive was extremely impressive. Also, their work is of such high quality that we have spent very little time on bug fixing.

They can be trusted to make important UI/UX suggestions and technology decisions. That was a great asset to the project. Finally, their reporting on time spent is very detailed which helped build trust and understand how they work - this was useful for forecasting and budgeting.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None. Extremely impressed and would not hesitate to recommend Binarcode.

We wanted to create pixel-perfect designs and implement them into live production. Our goal was to have professional programmers write very clean code.

I have been friends with one member of BinarCode since a long time ago. They only produce great work. When I was considering which vendor to hire, I asked them to provide price quotes and timelines to compare with other companies.

Once we agreed to start working together, we held regular meetings to speed up the entire workflow process. Within the first week, we received the homepage implementation on a local server. After they finished the homepage design, the rest of the secondary pages went faster.

Once BinarCode programmed the entirety of the code and our website went live, I was more than happy with the results. Our site's loading speed is quite fast because they wrote very clean and organized code.

We have a shared Slack channel where we talk on a daily basis.

I was impressed with the speed and the quality at which they deliver. Their prices are very reasonable considering the results they provide.

The platform’s automation dramatically reduced our manual inputs. We’re set up to scale very efficiently.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We had a great experience and will continue to use them to scale our processes. When our API provider’s documentation caused integration issues, Eduard (Co-Founder, BinarCode) did a lot of extra work to ensure the result was perfect. He came up with solutions that fulfilled all our specifications.

No, not that I saw. They’re truly a one-stop shop.

I’m the CTO of a software company that builds SaaS solutions for the labor market. In my role, I oversee the development of our web applications.

What challenge were you trying to address with BinarCode?

At the time when we hired BinarCode, we were experiencing an increase in demand for our products. As a result, we started looking to expand our development capabilities. We partnered with BinarCode to add several developers to our team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their team built an administration tool and wrote an API for a job board product. They’re currently developing a dynamic, web-based job board editor. The job board editor works in tandem with website builders and allows users to drag and drop components. Although we’ve provided a few mockups, they’ve handled development for both products.

Their team uses HTML, CSS, and Vue.js to create the frontend of their products. They use Laravel, MySQL, and Elasticsearch with NoSQL for the backend.

How did you come to work with BinarCode?

Initially, we were exploring the possibility of working with freelancers and remote developers. I reached out to my network and came into contact with BinarCode. I flew out to meet with them, and we began the project shortly after that. We were looking to start the project immediately, and they were able to start right away.

We’ve spent upwards of €50,000 (approximately $56,000 USD).

The partnership began in August 2018, and it's ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve been able to take on more projects and deliver products to a greater number of clients.

How did BinarCode perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve joined our Slack channels, and we exchange messages on a daily basis. We handle project management through sprint planning sessions. These meetings are an opportunity for us to collaborate with their team to identify requirements and create a backlog for each sprint. We track development tasks in Jira, and they regularly meet deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their knowledge of frontend development sets them apart from other firms. I specialize in backend technologies, and their experience with frontend systems has been enormously helpful for me. Also, because they’re a small team, we’ve been able to get to know them on a personal level. They’ve made a point to meet with us in person, which is something we value.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We could've done a better job of communicating about our deployment processes. We’re trying to learn from each other, and there’ve been times when we’ve needed greater clarity from their team.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Understand that a solid partnership with outside developers will require preparation and commitment. Take an active role in managing the project, as this will lead to a better outcome for your business.

How did you select this vendor?

One of the co-founders used our products and realized that we would be a good fit. That came at a moment when we wanted to deliver solutions on Vue.js, but couldn't find good companies who built with it. BinarCode has broad experience with frontend, backend, and mobile development.

We usually select products for Vue.js development, and BinarCode completes the implementation and converts our custom designs into functional Vue.js products. After implementation, they offer ongoing updates. They also answer user questions about the code and explain how to integrate our products with a backend.

We started working with only one team member. When the collaboration progressed smoothly, two more joined the team. We're currently onboarding the fourth.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Since releasing the Vue.js products, we've seen a 20% increase in our general market sales. That's because of their high-quality code, design, and documentation. The products usually receive around 4.9 or 5 stars from hundreds of users.

We originally communicated through email, then switched to a task management platform. They always deliver on time and communicate well with our developers, designers, and marketers.

The quality of their code and documentation is awesome.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We track success through GitPrime, which measures the productivity, quality of code, and code churn of the developers. BinarCode's performance always ranks in the top of the list out of our entire team of developers. They're very efficient and produce high-quality code.

How did BinarCode perform from a project management standpoint?

They manage tasks well and deliver on time. Although we do most of the project management on our end, their team does a good job of staying in touch through Jira and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Compared to others, BinarCode's team is very flexible and productive in their approach to projects. They're communicative and committed to the success of our work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing regarding their process. I know they're still growing, so I'd like to see them add more staff, including designers and a QA team.

They handled most of the technical side, providing tools they felt were necessary to move forward quickly, while I incorporated the backend. This division was incredibly effective, so we only had issues every once in a while. We were able to move quickly despite our small size.

Their level of skill is incredible. They delivered clean, easy-to-read, modular code that helps you scale rapidly. If I had questions about why some aspect of the code was the way it was, they would answer them.
