What challenge were you trying to address with 5+8?

We needed help with digital marketing. Our goal was to increase brand awareness and engagement. This effort became hard to manage in-house, so we were interested in having a fresh perspective outside of the company.

5+8 provided content marketing and digital strategy services. The team developed content ideas for our social channels and managed our content calendar. Our in-house team deployed the content.

We had multiple kickoff and discovery meetings. 5+8 came to our Houston location and met on-site. We walked them through our brand book and introduced them to key players on our side. From there, they put together a proposal for where they thought they could add the most value. They sent us an à la carte menu of options varying based on price points for different packages that we could do. We selected a package and got to work.

We saw an increase in brand engagement and awareness. 5+8 exceeded our expectations.

How did 5+8 perform from a project management standpoint?

5+8 delivered on time and within budget. We used Asana and Google Docs for project management and communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

5+8 approached things from a funny, edgy, and young perspective. We didn’t get typical corporate ideas. Their ideas were outside the box, and they added a comedic edge to everything they did.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for them to improve. They did a good job on everything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open-minded to the ideas that you may initially say no to. 5+8 brings a unique and different perspective. If you wanted someone who thought exactly like you, you shouldn’t have hired them.

We hired 5+8 to re-brand our company which in my mind was just coming up with a new logo. What we received was much more. They began with thoughtful questions and surveys across our company to learn who we were and what we stood for. They integrated this info with their expertise to provide a thoughtful, meaningful, and stylish logo and associated brand materials that our whole team was very proud of.

I never had this thought throughout our project and have since rehired them to brand a second business of mine without question. They are proving themselves all over again, and I could not be more pleased.

We needed help with branding and digital marketing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we met with their founders and project lead to discuss our vision and how we wanted our product to look and feel. After that, they gave us a presentation of the creatives they’d come up with to elicit feedback on how the audience would react. Then, we took that feedback and created several campaigns for different media.

So far, 5+8 has provided branding, advertising, digital media, and social media marketing services to establish our digital presence. The goal is to help us launch our brand and build our product.

For social media, they’ve done video work with me in an interview style and created still images and video products that I share on my social channels. They’ve managed my social channels and done podcasts and more. Moreover, their team has created a content calendar for us and given us a podcast network. In terms of platforms, they’ve helped us with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

We’ve worked with at least five people on various projects. Some have created digital animations and storyboards, while others have managed our social media and video work. We’ve also worked with the three founders.

They’ve helped us launch our brand and seen more leads.

How did 5+8 perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve delivered on time and within budget and communicated well with us. We use emails, phone calls, text messages, and Basecamp as tools.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team gets to know us well. They have all the technical skills, and their teammates have different creative strengths. Overall, they take a very personal approach to a project. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish they could also develop things for me, like my apps. However, they’re primarily a marketing, advertising, and branding firm, so that’s probably too much to ask.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be transparent with what you want and give them feedback. They take feedback well and don’t take it negatively. Our finished products are never what we started with, and our end products work out well because of that.

We engaged 5+8 to do a branding refresh for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially met with Adam (Partner) and his team about our needs. Our company just finished our 150th anniversary, so we aimed to launch a fresh brand. We reviewed our needs for logos, websites, and our new athletics branding. For context, we didn’t only have a new branding for our school but also for our athletics department.

For the website, 5+8 created a design for our homepage, which we used as a guide for redoing our website. The team gave us their idea for the homepage’s best look, including font choices and general guidelines for the branding. To do that, they started with a survey among parents, students, board members, faculty and staff, and alumni. This was part of the discovery process. They shared the survey’s results with us. As we read through the results, a new tagline for our school emerged.

So far, we’ve completed the branding refresh. We currently keeping 5+8 on retainer for the first part of the school year. They help us with the projects we want to redo. For instance, our admissions department wants to create a PowerPoint presentation. We’re also going to redo a video on our homepage. On top of that, the team will also help us target our ad campaigns and provide PR ideas.

Apart from Adam, we’ve also worked with Sarah (Creative Director) and Lauren (Strategy Director). Rhiannon (Brand Manager) serves as the liaison and coordinator of the engagement. Around 2–3 graphic designers have also worked on the branding project. Two other teammates have been in our Zoom meetings.

We will do a big unveiling event when we start the school year. We’ve also slowly shown the new branding to our constituents, and everyone from the faculty to student focus groups has truly liked it. There’s been a lot of positive response to it.

Overall, I have only glowing reviews regarding my experiences working with 5+8. The team consistently delivers superior results while accommodating our unique calendar and time constraints. The talented creatives at 5+8 take the time to understand both our business and culture, and they seamlessly integrate our values and mission into the work they provide for us. I don’t think I can find a company that better fits our advertising, marketing, and design needs.

Their project management is great. We’ve stayed on schedule, and they’ve proven flexible. We’ve had several meetings via Zoom calls and occasionally in person. We also communicate via phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings.

I’m the CEO of SISCORP Structures. We design and build industrial steel buildings, primarily in the energy and manufacturing sectors.

Our brand was very outdated, so we were trying to re-image our brand to match our reputation. Essentially, we wanted to enhance our brand.

What was the scope of their involvement?

5 + 8 has done a holistic brand refresh, including our logos, mission statement, vision, values, and copywriting. Initially, they did a thorough analysis of our brand because they wanted to understand who we were before diving into solving our problem. Afterward, they were very aware of our needs.

They’ve created examples of how we’d position our logo on different branded materials, such as clothing, construction materials, and buildings. We’ve wrapped up the branding process, but we’re now discussing the website as our next step.

We launched the rebrand about two weeks ago, and we’ve had a great response from our clients and internal stakeholders. Our team appreciates the new band; however, the most valuable aspect has been that our clients have recognized our image because it’s familiar to them.

They cater to our timelines and are responsive. We communicate through email and Zoom. Also, we use Google Sheets and Google Drive to share feedback and designs.

They’re a one-stop shop for anything creative and digital in the marketing space. From the minute I was introduced to 5 + 8, they were bold and gave me excellent advice. Their culture really sets them apart because they value teamwork; they have such an emphasis on that, that we feel valued as well.

Our LinkedIn profile grew by 1400 legitimate followers and we have generated my leads to clients. We have new logos, banners and slogans and we honestly feel like they are a part of our company and culture now.
