What challenge were you trying to address with 4TWIGGERS?

We needed someone to build our mobile applications and help with web development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

4TWIGGERS designed and developed our website and our iOS and Android mobile app. We gave them a brief and decided how everything should look. The design process took a little more than a month, then six months to complete the project. They used React Native on the frontend, and the backend was built with JavaScript.

I was in contact with the product owner, a project manager, a designer, and a couple of developers. 

How did you come to work with 4TWIGGERS?

I found 4TWIGGERS on Twitter and saw their portfolio and the background of their developers. It was our first project, and we wanted it done by professionals. They were also very budget-friendly compared to other companies. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in August 2021–February 2022.

It was a successful project, and I was very satisfied with their work.

4TWIGGERS delivered on time and within budget. We had a call twice a week.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We commissioned 4Twiggers to build a database to store tree information (geo-location, attributes, photo attachments) and an app (iOS and Android) that lets users position trees and add/edit tree label information and upload photos. We also wanted a web portal that lets users manage their tree collections and generate CSV reports, with a billing console for our clients and a user permissions module.

We asked 4Twiggers to create a UI for both the app and the web portal and design the UX for both of those, too. Deliverables were: a database hosted on AWS, apps on the two app stores and a web portal integrated into our existing website.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. Apps on the app stores that functioned per brief 
2. a web portal that functions per brief 
3. tree information queried from the database, displaying in the map interface (in app and web portal) within acceptable time delays (few seconds) 
4. off-line and poor connectivity functionality working reliably

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

We were impressed with 4TWIGGERSresponsiveness. We have worked with two product/project managers on their team and both were very good to respond to requests quickly. They were realistic in stating whether deadlines could be met, didn't over-promise and were very willing to try to make things work.

 In several instances, we pressed for a functionality that IS technologically challenging and we did appreciate their willingness to try and try again! Communications were great, and their English level is good. We used Discord for most of our comms and Linear for project tracking. Both worked well for us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

4Twiggers was well matched to our size and stage of development as a startup. They are quick, flexible and understood our idea. We absolutely appreciated their willingness to go outside the bounds of our brief occasionally and have certainly gone the extra mile in that respect. In short: they are a nimble, agile dev group and just right for us.

Are there any areas for improvement or something 4TWIGGERS could have done differently?

One area we both recognised that we could have done a little better (and WILL do from now on) is to spend a bit more time on the briefing process. A bit more design exploration and discussion BEFORE briefing on our part and quoting on their part will be good. We also felt that they were a little weak in in-house alpha testing, and earlier in the project we ended up doing a bit more of that alpha testing than we expected (or thought necessary from our side).

We recognise that both briefing/quoting and alpha+beta testing are areas that are very hard to plan for and get absolutely right in software development, so in general we don't have any huge complaints. This has been a learning experience for US, too! 4Twiggers have definitely grown and improved in these areas and things are working well now.

What challenge were you trying to address with 4TWIGGERS?

When we decided to launch a website for online real estate, we realized that the process would be difficult, so we decided to bring 4TWIGGERS to help us out.

What was the scope of their involvement?

4TWIGGERS helped us design and develop our website from scratch. Initially, I provided them with a brief detailing my ideas and requirements. In Georgia, there is a very popular type of design for sites, so I showed it to them and requested something completely different to stand out from the rest.

After the briefing process, 4TWIGGERS designed my site using Figma, following my specifications. Then, they developed it. Although we’re not actively engaged anymore, I can call them whenever I need changes made, and they gladly help me.

We worked with around 10 people from 4TWIGGERS, including a project manager, backend developers, frontend developers, and designers.

I made some research and found out that 4TWIGGERS was a very good company, so I hired them.

We worked together from June 2021–Jan 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

4TWIGGERS designed a very beautiful website for us. It is now live and working well, and its content is very good. We’ve also received very positive feedback from users, who have told me that the site is very easy to use and its UI/UX is very good. Although my company is just a startup, it is becoming a successful startup thanks to this site. 

How did 4TWIGGERS perform from a project management standpoint?

4TWIGGERS delivered the project within the deadline. They used a tool to manage the project internally, but I don’t remember its name.

What did you find most impressive about them?

4TWIGGERS’ credibility was their biggest strength. Additionally, they were extremely knowledgeable in web development and UI/UX design.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I was very satisfied with their work, and they were very professional.
