The work that unfolded was almost like watching a film being made in reverse.
We began with sketches and conversations about how a guest might stumble upon a digital portal in their living room, or how a child might meet a beloved character while sitting on their couch. From there, NipsApp built an evolving VR environment where guests could wander through recognizable spaces from our attractions the kind of wandering that doesn’t require instructions, because the world itself does the guiding.

They developed a VR exploration hub that acted like a soft introduction to some of our most iconic worlds. Guests could open doors, break through vines, step into dim corridors, or stand on cliff edges that overlooked digital versions of our rides.

The AR portion played a different role it brought characters and environments into the guest’s physical world. A minion popping out from behind a kitchen table, a dinosaur pressing its snout curiously against a hotel window, sparks flying when a guest traced their phone across a wall.

Deliverables were not just assets or scenes they were moments. Interactive hubs. Responsive environments. Characters that remembered choices. NipsApp handed us an ecosystem where every piece felt like it belonged to a larger story.

The scope of work was extensive and touched both our web and mobile applications. NipsApp Game Studios was responsible for integrating AI-powered translation features for text and voice notes, as well as building advanced offline functionality for our mobile app.
For translation, the team worked across our full tech stack our Express.js backend, React.js web frontend, and Expo-based mobile app. They integrated Google Translate for general, everyday languages and OpenAI for more context-sensitive translations. The voice note translation was particularly complex, involving speech-to-text, translation, and then text-to-speech output. This required precision and deep technical skill, and they handled it impressively.
The offline capability was another major component. The team implemented CRDTs (Conflict-free Replicated Data Types), which allowed our field teams to continue working without an internet connection and automatically sync their changes once they're back online. They also managed local storage, caching, and overall data handling to make the offline experience seamless.

NIPSAPP was tasked with developing a multi-sensory VR experience that walked users through the cinematic evolution of the Arab world spanning traditional Bedouin oral stories to contemporary digital cinema. They built out a virtual gallery space featuring curated clips, behind-the-scenes audio, interactive scripts, and augmented walkthroughs of major Red Sea Fund-supported projects. Additionally, they created AR-enabled installations throughout the festival grounds that allowed guests to scan markers and access mini-documentaries, director interviews, and location-based cinematic trivia. Every interaction felt purposeful and personalized.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The AR/VR zone became one of the most visited attractions during the festival. What stood out wasn’t just footfall it was engagement. Guests lingered, returned, and recommended the experience to others. We observed festival attendees who typically preferred traditional formats expressing newfound interest in immersive storytelling. Filmmakers, especially emerging talents from the region, viewed the space as a bridge between innovation and heritage something they could now envision applying in their own work.

NIPSAPP was responsive, consistent, and remarkably detail-oriented. From our first conversation, they demonstrated an intuitive grasp of both the artistic and technical expectations. We worked across multiple time zones, but communication was seamless. Every weekly check-in included visual progress updates, clear timelines, and space for feedback which they handled with genuine enthusiasm and agility.

If anything, we’d love to see them offer post-festival visitor data visualizations to help us understand interaction trends more deeply. They did collect feedback on-site and shared anecdotal observations, but an optional analytics layer focused on user flow and time spent would support longer-term impact assessments. That said, they have already proposed including this in future phases, and we’re excited to collaborate with them again.

NIPSAPP was responsible for designing and developing a VR environment simulating a virtual school. Inside this, each room represented a different ClassLink product feature from access control to analytics. Users could interact with simulated dashboards and settings as if they were navigating the real platform. Alongside this, an AR tool was developed to allow mobile scanning of physical materials (e.g., ID cards, printed guides), which then triggered tutorials and animated guides. The deliverables included 3D environment creation, AR marker system integration, multilingual audio guidance, and a backend control panel for content updates.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Post-launch, we saw a clear improvement in user confidence and training session efficiency. Staff and educators who used the immersive tools reported feeling more prepared to use ClassLink in live environments. During internal evaluations, there was increased retention of key platform functions, and user feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
