Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the CMO in Maincast. Maincast it's one of the biggest esports company in Europe that located in Kyiv, Ukraine.

For what projects/services did your company hire 27 Nerds, and what were your goals?

We had a legacy overlay system that we needed to update so that we could generate a new technology stack for visual experience and new options for displaying in-game data. As the result, we hired 27 neard to develop our custom solution and to upgrade our product.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We were looking for a partner with esports expertise and we already had a Ruby solution so we wanted to find a team who works with the same technology stack.

We started with a discovery workshop and the 27 neard team spent some time with our production leads to understand our needs. We created a working team for the project and formed the roadmap. The main goal was to upgrade our Ruby-made database solution and to reach a new level of technology for visual solutions.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 3 people that we communicated with: CTO, Developer and Project Manager.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

All of our new features were implemented in time and their quality was consistently high. Together with the vendor we conducted a profound R&D process to choose a new vector for developing our visual solution. In addition, it’s worth noting that the team has high technical and gaming expertise and overall their performance is really good.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had good communication on all levels, quite detailed discussions and timely responses to all our comments and suggestions. In our communication we used Telegram.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The passion for esports that motivated them to investigate and look for creative features and data sets.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There is always a need for continuous improvement, better performance and scaling. However, in terms of our collaboration effort they did their best, considering their current state and capabilities.

I am the product owner of a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) portal cover.gg

We needed to develop a professional CS:GO scene portal from scratch. The mind-map included building the architecture of the project, more than 30 features and a plan for further development.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We approached 27 Nerds through a personal recommendation from our partners who works with them.

The first step in our project was to ask 27 Nerds to estimate the scope of work. We had several meetings to clarify the details and divide the stages with the backend team. After that, we started designing and developing the product based on the agile methodology. Technologies used:

A team of 14 people working on the project. This group includes:

• software architect
• project manager
• product manager for admin part
• lead frontend developer
• senior QA
• two product designers
• the rest are backend and frontend developers

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

1. Accuracy in planning and execution of tasks, is at least 90%. We got the MVP and then the finished product within the agreed time frame.
2. The project turned out to be fail-safe, withstands high loads and scales well. cover.gg "under the bonnet" processes a lot of CS:GO data. It is very important that it be fast and reliable.
3. Separately I can say that we got a reliable technical partner, which allows us to clearly plan tasks and develop the project.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

I am constantly in touch with the team. Communication in the form of Google Meet calls or in chat. There are also daily meetings and weekly meetings for planning. For project management Jira is used.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

27 Nerds is a well-known companies in the creation of eSports services and products. Its employees are very well versed in the intricacies of gaming and everything related to eSports. Their developers have great expertise in the technology stack and an excellent understanding of the project's goals. At the time of our work on project, the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. 27 Nerds is a Ukrainian company. Despite the stress and military threats, the team continued to meet their responsibilities and close tasks on time, for which we thank them very much.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I have no suggestions or questions that we have not discussed with the 27 Nerds team. The whole process is built on transparency and mutual respect. If there is a suggestion for improvement, it is not hidden or ignored because everyone is interested in the result.
