Award winning PR and media training.
A chartered PR practitioner, John started his career in 1992 in local government publicity before joining the Benefits Agency as a press officer. Leaving public service in 1997, he has spent the past 20 years in consultancy, specialising in issues and media management for a range of private and public sector clients. While the focus of his consultancy is providing senior strategic counsel and training to help organisations communicate better and so enhance and protect their reputation, John remains an active and effective media relations practitioner. His passion for brand development and messaging is indulged through his continued involvement with creative design. He devises and delivers integrated communications campaigns, especially involving attitudinal change and utilising social capital. In addition to a professional Advanced Diploma in Communications Studies (with a distinction in PR), he is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner and also a Fellow and UK Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. A long-standing and active member of the CIPR Cymru group committee, he is also a member of Public Affairs Cymru, the IoD and PRCA. He was part of the Welsh Government’s expert advisory group on adoption and currently serves as chair of Governors at a Cardiff primary school and as a non-executive director of educational social enterprise, Full Circle Education CIC. Happily married, with two children and a crazy dog, he describes himself as “a foodophile, gymophobe and aspiring jockey.”
