What challenge were you trying to address with Wassleh Creative Solutions?

At the end of a project, we needed to produce several videos for visibility and communication about the project. We wanted to contract a vendor with experience in doing videos with organizations and NGOs that don’t have a commercial style.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We contracted Wassleh Creative Solutions to create two videos for the project. One of the videos involved interviewing different beneficiaries across the whole project. Some of them were school students, teachers, and ministers. We also had some high-profile people involved.

We wanted one of the videos to be in black and white, and in a certain format. We wanted something artistic. When it came to shooting, we wanted a different interview style from different angles.

What is the team composition?

We asked for two people, but they were free to add others when they needed it.

For example, we asked for an editor and director, but sometimes they don’t necessarily do translations. We let them know if they needed someone to translate that they could hire someone to put subtitles on the video. Since it’s in Arabic, we needed English subtitles.

How did you come to work with Wassleh Creative Solutions?

Last October, I was on my honeymoon and was coming back from Sri Lanka. I was in the airport in Oman and recognized someone who had a shirt on that had Jordanian writing. We introduced ourselves, and then he gave me his business card for if we had any opportunities at UNESCO.

When we started the call for proposals, I sent him an email about it. We interviewed them and saw that they had previous experience in this area.

How much have you invested with them?

For the two videos, it was roughly around $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The shooting started in late December. We had originally planned on starting earlier, but the project extended for two months, which extended the timeline of the assignment. They delivered in early February 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It was great. We wanted to finish the videos in early February because we wanted to mainstream them during the end of the project ceremony. The feedback was amazing, and even the US ambassador, who was part of the interviews, was very pleased with the results. The videos were edited very well. People at the event and on social media liked them.

How did Wassleh Creative Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

To be honest, I never went to set with them. My colleague accompanied them, but I worked as a coordinator to support her because she doesn’t speak Arabic. The executive director was the focal point of communication between our two parties. Whenever we needed something, we would just communicate that to him.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Wassleh Creative Solutions did everything we needed. Their flexibility was amazing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their work with translation and subtitles could improve. We at UNESCO have a certain language that we use in our communication, so maybe their team could work in that area a little bit to accommodate all the requirements by organizations or agencies.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For anyone who wants to hire a videographer, be specific in your requirements. Don’t just tell a videographer that you want them to do interviews; you need to tell them exactly what you need from those interviews like the setup, questions, and angles. You need to be very specific and clear.
