I’m the president of Grierson Consulting.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ward & Uptigrove?

We hired them for accounting services.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They handle all of our business accounting and corporate tax needs. I also use Tom (Counsel) for general business advice, but it’s typically all related to accounting or corporate needs. 

What is the team composition?

Tom is my main point of contact. 

How did you come to work with Ward & Uptigrove?

I was introduced to them because they were the corporate accountant for the person who owned the business that I’d purchased.

How much have you invested with them?

Yearly, we spend around $4,000 CAD (approximately $2,900 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since 1999 and our engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Their involvement, knowledge, and recommendations have probably saved me a lot of money and I never have to worry about it. 

For example, when I sold my business, Tom recommended we do things in a specific way for taxes and it likely saved me several thousand dollars just on that. Everything he does is legitimate. There’s never a year that goes by in which he doesn’t help us come up with a strategy that sets us up for saving money now or in the future. 

How did Ward & Uptigrove perform from a project management standpoint?

I can call him anytime I need him, or email and he’ll respond via email or over the phone. I can even set up a golf game with Tom. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s clear they care. Even when he eventually retires, I’m sure Tom will make sure we’re taken care of and we’ll miss him. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing they can improve on.
