Vertex Product Development (Vertex Product Development Inc.) is an industrial design and engineering consultancy based at 1 Elm Street Suite 1, Great Neck, NY 11021. Avi Cohen founded the firm in 1998 and remains the owner.

We turn napkin sketches, CAD, or early prototypes into buildable hardware. Core services are industrial design (form, use, and appearance with manufacturing in view), mechanical and electrical engineering with DFM, functional prototyping in our model shop (additive (3D printing), CNC, forming, urethane casting as needed), and turnkey programs from concept through manufacturing transfer. Work can be full turnkey or scoped by phase.

Primary industries stated on our site: medical and laboratory equipment, semiconductor equipment (wafer handling, wet processing, inspection-related mechanical work), and industrial products and machinery, including related hardware such as coin-operated and kiosk systems. Published portfolio examples include the Halm EM press family, WaveEtch 456 G2 semiconductor wet processing, Direct View Retractor medical work, and power-meter programs such as Nexus 1500.

Service area: we mainly serve clients in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania from our Great Neck studio (Long Island / NYC metro), and we are open to nationwide and remote programs when the fit is right.

Regulated work: bring the requirements. We design to client-stated compliance specs. Vertex does not run compliance testing, claim ISO 13485 certification as a firm, claim FDA registration as a firm, or write or file 510(k) or PMA submissions. Those steps belong to the client and third parties. We own the hardware design and engineering.
