Tumu studio is founded on a principal of authentic simplicity.  The world of design, architecture, and building can be quite unapproachable to those that don’t deal with it day-to-day.  At tumu we strive to make good design welcoming and accessible to everyone.  Whether you need to build a residence for your family, renovate a space for your new restaurant, build a home for your business, or just want to know what is possible for a space you have or are considering; we can provide an experience that is understandable and create a unique place for you.

Tumu is owned and operated by wife-and-husband team Huili Feng and Ross Barney.  Together the two have spent twenty-eight combined years creating award-winning projects at all scales: international high-rise office and mixed-use, hotels, public space, institutions, schools, private homes, furniture and everything in between. Projects they have worked on include The Chicago Riverwalk, Fermi Lab OTE Research Center, Jiang Bei Sports and Culture Center, O’Hare International Airport Intermodal Transportation Facility, Chicago Union Station Master Plan, and the Vertical Expansion of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters Building.
