BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the president of CompassMSP, a regional managed IT services provider serving the Chicago, Hartford, Florida, and mid-Atlantic markets. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with TransTech IT Staffing?

Our internal recruiting team was unable to find us qualified IT staff within the timeframe we needed.  

We needed a company that could identify candidates that suited our technology needs and culture — we needed the right skills matched with our other requirements. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

TransTech provides us with qualified candidates to fill our IT needs. We provided TransTech with our skills requirements and HR policies; we needed candidates with technical and client skills. They then took the initial recruitment and screening steps to find qualified candidates to fill our open positions. 

Each candidate was qualified for what we wanted, and we didn’t need to have any extensive interviews to screen them. We then went in and picked the candidates that best fit our needs. 

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact at TransTech is Jordan (Account Executive), and two recruiters work on our project.  

How did you come to work with TransTech IT Staffing?

I had worked with TransTech in a previous job and was impressed with their job performance. So when I came to Compass and saw the gaps in our recruitment team, I suggested the recruiting team reach out to TransTech. 

Our internal recruiting team had a good initial conversation with TransTech, validating my proposal to hire them and the hired them on a trial basis. The trial was successful, and TransTech took off from there. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent $70,000–$80,000 with TransTech so far.  

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in June 2021 and the engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

TransTech has filled three technical roles for us so far, and we’re about to give them more because they’ve proven to be very effective at finding qualified candidates. They were able to fill them quickly — it used to take us 3–4 months to fill a role and they’re able to do it in 30 days.  

Happily, none of the teammates TransTech has recruited have been terminated or left the company, unlike some of our internally hired teammates. 

How didTransTech IT Staffing perform from a project management standpoint?

TransTech is very effective in terms of project management. We have weekly check-ins where we discuss the status of each position. TransTech pushes us as much as we push them — it’s a good give and take, with great communication every step of the way. 

Generally, we communicate through email and Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

TransTech focuses on ensuring that the candidates we interview will fit our company culture. They ensure that all the skill requirements are met, but they really excel at finding candidates who will fit into our team, which is essential for hiring. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. We always want teammates hired faster, cheaper, and sooner, but that’s not something they can do better — they’ve already done that better than other companies we’ve worked with. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Customers need to have active communication and listen to TransTech’s feedback. TransTech has great insight into the market and what is happening regarding staffing and the availability of resources. 

TransTech will help customers understand that not everything they’re looking for fits the market and will help adjust hiring strategy to availability in the marketplace.
