ThingsBoard built us a single web platform to monitor and report on our H2S scavenging and chemical treatment operations across all our sites, built on their own platform and shaped around how we actually work. The project began with a scoping and design phase, then moved into the build, with regular check-ins throughout.

Key deliverables:

• Real-time monitoring of H2S levels, chemical dosing, tank levels, and equipment status, organized by site.
• Quick site onboarding — a new site is set up from one uploaded mapping file.
• Automated tracking of each treatment run, with compliance-ready reports generated automatically.
• Safety alerts and run reports are delivered by text message, so no one has to watch a screen.
• Multi-site, role-based access — operators see only their own site; head office keeps full oversight. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. Treatment runs are now documented automatically instead of by hand, removing the manual data collection we used to do after each run.
2. Compliance-ready reports are generated for every run, giving us an instant, archive-ready record.
3. Safety alerts now reach our team in real time by text message, so issues are caught as they happen rather than after the fact.
4. Everything we used to track across separate monitoring screens, spreadsheets, and manual reporting now lives in one platform.
5. New sites can be brought online quickly with a single file upload, rather than being configured piece by piece.

The project was well organized from the start. It kicked off with a clear scoping and design phase, and the team set up a regular cadence — weekly touchpoints plus working sessions to review progress — so we always knew where things stood. Communication was prompt and easy throughout; they followed up consistently, sent us clear questions whenever they needed more detail, and responded quickly to our requests. They worked closely with us to make sure the platform fit how our operations actually run.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out most was how closely the platform was built around how we actually operate. Rather than handing us a generic dashboard to adapt to, they shaped the whole system around our world — our H2S thresholds, chemical dosing, and the way we track and report each treatment run. They clearly understood the realities of our field operations, and it showed in a product that fit our work from day one. The fact that they build on their own platform also gave us confidence in the depth of their expertise and in long-term support.

A clean and modern interface for a smooth user experience. 3) Maintainable Widget System. A flexible system for the client's team to easily update content. 4) IoT Integration. A secure and reliable connection to the backend IoT platform for real-time data.

What really stood out for us was the focus on long-term value - the team didn't just deliver a beautiful app; they built it with a maintainable architecture so our own team could easily manage the widgets and content without relying on 3rd party mobile developers. That's a huge benefit, as it means we can continue to develop and refine dashboards on our own.

Are there any areas for improvement or something ThingsBoard could have done differently?

The difference in time zones has always been a challenge for us in the South Pacific when working with professionals in other parts of the world. Fortunately, for this project, after the initial calls outside our normal business hours, communication with the ThingsBoard team was precise and clear throughout. This meant we didn’t need repeated after-hours calls, which made the overall experience smooth and efficient.

Alerts can be received in three languages through multiple channels, including WhatsApp, SMS, Microsoft Teams, Slack, and email.
