The project was to check the accessibility of TalentLMS (www.talentlms.com) - a market-leading Learning Management System actively used by over 25M end users - against WCAG 2.2 AA criteria, provide fixes and guidance to the TalentLMS dev teams regarding accessibility, conduct user trials with users with visual disabilities and improve the usability of the product as a whole. The scope of the product that was covered is defined in the respective ACR. The learner functionality was prioritized and 3 iterations were conducted until the overall quality of the product reached the desired accessibility level, resolving all issues identified. The user trials were then conducted to validate the work, where users managed to complete their tasks with 100% success.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The ACR produced and the number of issues found and fixed after an internal TalentLMS taskforce had already done a preliminary round of fixes.

The tangible guidance to the team that led to the improvement of the TalentLMS design system and the integration of quality gateways in our SDLC to ensure that accessibility is maintained going forward and gradually expanded to other areas of the product.

The user trials that verified th quality of the work and provided tangible evidence on the success of the work.

The enthusiastic feedback from the developers that collaborated with thUXprodigy regarding the quality of the guidance and the transfer of expertise esp. towards the front end and design teams.

Project was managed in a professional way. Terms of collaboration were clear and no hidden costs. The team was there to help and provide not simply a list of issues but also fixes and guidance on how not to repeat thosse mistakes in the future. All deliverables were in time and accurately reflected the work done. Insight on usability issues was also delivered plus the mindset for making the product trully accessible and not just conforming to checks of AXE and similar tools. Collaboration was smooth and enjoyable,

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The depth of expertise and know-how, the professionalism and detailed level of guidance provided to the internal teams plus the expertise / implicit training provided in order to actually improve the product in the long run. There was no strategic concealment of information, but instead, theUXprodigy was very open in teaching us how to approach accessibility and usability in an effective, practical way. The guidance was at top level and the collaboration over iterations following theUXprodigy 8-step approach was highly effective.

Accessibility and usability for a product that has been actively developing over years is not an easy task; theUXprodigy managed to approach it in a highly effective way generating great value for money and practical improvements to TalentLMS. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something theUXProdigy could have done differently?

I feel we had an excellent collaboration and not much that is in control of theUXprodigy could have been done better; there was a small delay on finding the users with disabilities for the user trials but this was in the order of few days and more or less expected due to the nature of user trials. Overall excellent collaboration and expertise, congrats to the team!

Beyond the tangible outputs, their passion and dedication stood out — in my 20 years of working with external partners on user research, I have never experienced this level of detail, service, and commitment.

We always strive to improve Geekbot's UX. This is the purpose of our UX team. We needed to have a holistic (unbiased) approach on how we identify the usability of our platform.

Our own team could identify a big part of the existing issues, but our daily engagement with the product would not allow an 100% unbiased approach. An external reviewer would allow a different view on our product and a much less biased critique.

We had already known about this agency and that it's among the best in Greece and we already had previous experience from various UX workshops that they excellently facilitated. This made it an easy choice for us.

We provided theUXprodigy with a list of actions to perform on our platform. This was handled by one of their people. They run the list of tasks identifying the UX issues that they listed in a report with severity and possible solutions.

Once we presented the list of the tasks that we wanted them to perform, they delivered the results in the agreed time-frame.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We managed to have a combined UX backlog that consists from both our own observations and theirs, rated by severity, which helped us better form our UX and product priorities.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project was completed within the time-frame that we agreed upon. Their team was very helpful, and our communication was very effective.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their attention to detail and the depth of their observations. They managed to trace issues that required from the user to go the extra mile. Also, the way they presented the results was extra helpful for us in order not to have to spend too much time reworking them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Maybe a different medium of results (other than PDF) that would allow us more efficiently transfer their findings to our PM tool. Not of that big importance, but it could be a minor improvement.

I truly appreciated how The UX Prodigy courses regularly attracted participants from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom turned up regularly, contributing to an amazing colaborative atmosphere, the formation of a community and a fantastic learning experience!

Tutors were always available to help during and after the courses were over. Questions were always answered in a manner I considered thorough, and constructive feedback was alwayscorovided during the wirkshops and exercises. I should also note that on several occasions, when non-greek participants joined us, the seminars were ran in English, each time with outmost proficiency.

What I remember most about these classes was that they were always fun to attend! In fact, in more than one occasion, both tutors and students found ourselves extending the seminar long past its official closing time.
