I'm the director of IT for the Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel, a nonprofit with over 22,000 members across the U.S. Our mission is to help veterans transition back into civilian life. We run many campaigns for the foundation, send care packages to troops overseas, put on events for Gold Star families, and offer other facilities on site

A website was revamped by Devoq Design with new branding and navigation. They keep an eye on web performance and continue to give regular maintenance.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Our project manager provides excellent client support. She's fantastic at answering my queries and is available at any time of day. When reviewing project specifications and outlining affordable solutions, their development staff is also patient. Their designers were receptive to our ideas and assisted us in rearranging the website to make the most sense. Never once did they refuse my requests. We exchange project details using G Suite and Basecamp in addition to phone conversations and emails.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a senior client enablement manager for a creative advertising agency. We do project management and deliver assets within the company. My position is a hybrid position between an account manager and delivery director, and I’m part of the account team.

What challenge were you trying to address with Submarine LLC?

We were trying to find a suitable partner for a job about podcast recording we had with a client.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The whole process has been great since the beginning. First, we reached out to Submarine LLC, and they gave us the estimates. They’ve delivered the work on time.

What is the team composition?

We have about 4–5 members on our team. I did not meet all of them, but I was in direct contact with the CEO.

We have a writer because we asked them to write the script for the podcast. We’ve also worked with a sound engineer.

How did you come to work with Submarine LLC?

We’d worked with a previous partner, but they didn’t fit our budget for this particular project. We had to look for someone who’d be willing to fit the price range that our client was asking for.

We found them through a simple Google search of podcast recording companies in Tokyo. We contacted about 3–4 options, but Submarine LLC was the best within the price. They met our budget resources, needs for podcast recording, and everything that we were looking for.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started in February 2021, and it's still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This is the first time the client is doing podcasts, so we don't have anything to compare it. However, since the podcast launch, we’ve been applying the MVP model. We tried to get out the first episode as soon as possible and then learn from our mistakes.

Additionally, Submarine LLC is very responsive and responsible. Our experience with them has been great.

How did Submarine LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re awesome. Organization is the key to success in project management, and they’re very organized. They're also responsive and timely.

In terms of communication, our agency has a Slack workspace, so we invited them into it.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The price point for their services is their most prominent trait. Also, the experience they have with other clients within their portfolio is outstanding.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind right away; we don’t have any complaints. They're not a large team, but I think they’re trying to scale it. Once their team grows, I think they could take on bigger projects.

Any advice for potential customers?

Try to negotiate the right price in the beginning so you get the best bang for your buck.
