A design studio built on principle.
Studio Freight is an independent brand and digital design studio based in Columbus, OH and New York City, NY. Built on principle, we grow brands by making them easy to understand and impossible to ignore. We specialize in branding, visual identity, web design, and art/creative direction.

Root Insurance Co. is reimagining and reinventing car insurance — we helped them visualize what that looks like. During their cross-country journey of the last two years (they’re now serving 24+ states), they’ve cruised to a valuation of more than $1B.
We were brought in at an early stage of the rebrand process to work with Root’s internal design team. We helped develop the brand identity and logo design, provided guidance on art direction and photo direction that went on to inform the final brand manifestation, and helped them concept and design explorations for the website. Additionally, we created illustrations and lettering designs for the Root blog.

Each carefully poured cup by Roosevelt Coffee Roasters has an impact that ripples beyond the local community, with proceeds supporting global initiatives that fight hunger, unclean water, and human trafficking. Studio Freight set out to create an identity system that makes the world feel more like a community. Faraway places are brought nearer through the use of animals native to the origins of each coffee and their hand-drawn faces faithfully represent products crafted with care. Anchored by the mission Coffee & Justice for All, we developed a variety of merchandise and brand extensions, so the growing community around Roosevelt Coffee Roasters can wear and share what they love.

Groomed from the womb to the tomb. Turner’s Barber & Co is an alternative barbershop guaranteeing the best damn cuts, trims, and shaves you’ll find in the Midwest.
We developed the brand identity along with packaging, illustration, lettering, art direction, and photography.
Written by comedians Taylor Marie Frey and Mike Wesolowski, “Two Trains Leave Paris: Number Problems for Word People” is a math book like you’ve never seen before. We designed the cover and 50+ illustrations to guide readers through the irreverent, ridiculous, magically mathematical journey of two ex-lovers.

Medical Claims Helper advocates for those struggling with medical bills, prescription options, and financial assistance forms. In a system riddled with mistakes and miscommunication, they see the whole picture. They talk with health insurance companies, healthcare providers, and billing departments to find the best possible outcomes for patients.
We developed the brand to be easy to understand and extremely approachable because Medical Claims Helper is often serving older-aged clients who are feeling overwhelmed, confused, and even deceived.

In the old town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Ember & Valor is using the finest ingredients to make all-natural beard and hair products because they know great quality isn’t just right, it’s common sense. Studio Freight reimagined the face of their brand with a new visual identity, packaging system, website, and content strategy. With custom illustrations and messaging inspired by the products your grandfather trusted, a type-centric packaging system was developed with a variegated grey color palette to denote the lighter and darker scents.
