Stranger Creative is an independent, human-centered digital creative agency based in New York City. Founded in 2020, we collaborate with ambitious brands to design websites, digital products, and marketing experiences that drive connection and growth. Our work blends design, strategy, and research to help organizations innovate with purpose and craft experiences that resonate across technology, commerce, and culture.
We’ve partnered with clients including Google, Unilever, New York Life, and Glossier—brands that share our belief that thoughtful design can spark meaningful change. As a studio, we’re built on the idea of designing for good. We challenge how design is made—ensuring it’s inclusive, sustainable, and accessible—and who gets to participate in making it. Through our nonprofit, QTBIPOC Design, we invest in underrepresented creatives, funding mentorship programs, education, and creative grants.
Independently owned and guided by empathy, creativity, and purpose, Stranger Creative combines strategic thinking with design craft to shape a more human digital future. Our multidisciplinary team brings together expertise in UX/UI, branding, digital strategy, and storytelling to help brands grow with clarity, creativity, and impact.

Our Story
Steven Wakabayashi (he/him) is a design leader, change-maker, and founder of mission-driven organizations. After leading creative teams at many notable brands and agencies, he is now redefining digital products and experiences for emerging tech and commerce brands through his creative agency Stranger Creative, and creating pathways for underrepresented LGBTQ+ BIPOC creatives into the design industry through his nonprofit QTBIPOC Design.
