About The Stained Glass Store
Established in 1984, The Stained Glass Store serves Des Moines, Iowa, and beyond as a full-service stained glass studio. Our expert craftsmen have been trusted with the most prestigious restoration projects and designing and executing new stained glass applications throughout the country for churches, synagogues, homes, and businesses.
Changing Ownership & Location
The quality craftsmanship remains the same as the studio has evolved. Our store was co-founded by Alan McDermott and Marty Grund and has since switched ownership to Edin Hosic and Darko Lokmic. Both Edin and Darko have been with The Stained Glass Store for over 20 years and aim to continue the small family business. Along with the new ownership, the store also has a new location after its move from Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines to Grimes. Regardless of ownership or location, our craftsmen are experienced, meticulous, and love their profession.
Awards & Recognition for Our Stained Glass Work
Our team has been honored to be involved with elite projects such as the Iowa State Capitol, Iowa’s only castle, The Salisbury House, Grinnell College’s Herrick Chapel, Hoyt Sherman Place, St. Ambrose, St, Augustin's and many other prestigious projects around the United States. Our projects have even reached as far as Hurricane Katrina-damaged churches in New Orleans.
In addition to prestigious projects, The Stained Glass Store has won local and national awards for excellence in the craft. The awards include winning the Boulder Stained Glass exposition in Colorado, winning the Port Con in California, and being honored with the American Institute of Architects “Excellence in Craft Award.”
