Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and president of Living Blueprint, a consulting company. We help companies align teams and grow. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Staggering Media?

The main goal we were hoping to address with Staggering Media was to get our clients to speak on our behalf through testimonial videos. I also wanted them to help me get my voice out through videos of our conferences, so I could share them on social media.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Staggering Media does everything, from planning to implementation. Typically, I bring them to my events or take them to my client’s events, and they produce videos within a 1–5 minute range. Predominantly, the content produced so far has gone to YouTube. Most recently, some videos have been posted mainly on Twitter and Facebook.

What is the team composition?

It depends on the event. For big ones, Trevor (Creative Director) might bring extra people and multiple cameras. For the editing process, I know there are more people helping him. The team can vary depending on the tasks.

How did you come to work with Staggering Media?

I met Trevor at an event that I was attending but not speaking at. We enjoyed each other’s company and found out we were in a similar industry, so we could work together.

How much have you invested with them?

It’s tough to say because we’ve worked on different things. It depends on what we were doing, but it could be a chunk in the $10,000 range, even if not all 3–5 minute videos have cost that. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We probably started 10 years ago, or at least earlier than 2014. We still have potential projects coming up because we are currently working on a course that Trevor is going to be filming for us.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because of the way we operate and how we use the medium, it’s hard to say. We didn’t put a product out and then drive sales. It has been more branding and conditioning awareness to clarify our message to a wider audience, which is hard to quantify with data. But Trevor has always handed us everything to use for our promotion.

Moreover, I believe having videos of me on stage has helped with getting speaking opportunities at other conferences. However, it’s hard to say whether they hired me based on my videos. Still, the videos have been available for that purpose.

How did Staggering Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Staggering Media has been great. If we do a shoot, I know that I wouldn't have to worry about anything. We’ve usually figured out the directions together, or they’d let us know the direction. 

When it comes down to how many cameras, how many people, or anything related, I know I wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Trevor would take care of it. He has been very collaborative. It has always been a two-way open dialogue.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Trevor definitely carries out everything he commits to. I’ve worked with video people before, and once we pay them their fees, they stop working or downgrade their work to meet that amount. With Trevor, he commits to the project and does the best of his abilities to get it done within reason, no matter what.

Staggering Media commits to the project and gets it done. Trevor never drastically or incorrectly over-scopes or under-scopes. He’s usually pretty good at defining what’s required and hitting those targets. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really, I’ve stayed working with him for a long time because we understand each other and know how to work together quite well, so I haven’t had the need to change. If there was an issue in the past, we talked, worked through it, and found a way to move forward. We worked together quite well. I’m sure whatever he has learned through our interactions is carried on to other clients.

Any advice for potential customers?

It’s very easy to get a video, put it up, and think you’re going to save the world. However, if you don't have a platform underneath it and know what you’re going to do with it,  the work really falls on their shoulders. Thinking that a video is going to change the world is inaccurate.

It’s important to have a need, a strategy, a plan, and a marketing desire. Then, you post the video as a catalyst and a catapult. If you don't have all that underneath it and think the video is going to solve your problems, you’ll find that the world doesn't work that way.
