CTO and CPO for Nexway, online payment and e-commerce platform covering up to 140 countries for any digital software publishers and online services providers.

For what projects/services did your company hire Software Service & Innovation, and what were your goals?

We have the challenge to find (quickly) great developers with specific skills based on our activities and huge portfolio. Also, the goal for SSI was to manage the team on our behalf to be sure they/we meet our expectations.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

SSI has been introduced by an internal person - after several discussions (and checks !), it has been decided to start with a small group - as a test - and extend the number of developpers if needed.

SSI develops features of our platform (front and back) according to the requirements of our product owner, as well as giving us expertize to improve the stability of it. We have internalized the team within our internal team to maximize communications and exchanges (as one team). Different types of profiles were thus provided:

• Developers
• QA
• architect
• Webdesigners

Up to 17 people are working for me - from Junior back developpers (Java Spring) to Senior Architect or Front Dev (React), including a full QA Team (Cypress)

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Progress has been amazing in terms of development and stability of the platform. even if it's hard to give any measurement, we have gain on performance by around 50% without decreasing our online SLA of 99.97%. More than that, SSI team's has been more than professional working sometimes during the weekend (on their behalf) to finalize some projects.

SSI teams are mixed with our internal teams, as part of a small group, lead by a PO. From day 1, we have adhere to our communication channel (mostly Slack & Google Meet), and used the Ticketing system to follow their duties. Most of them have been respected, including updated to PO on progress status.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Having someone you can trust as a partner is one of the most valuable assets. Software Service & Innovation has been able to find the excellent resources I need quickly. (including pre-selection, hiring, ...) and be "behind" each of the guys to ensure their deliver well. On top of that, SSI continuously follow the guys - and the delivery of the guys - with the goal that everyone is satisfy. Big Kudos !

Nope.

I’m the owner of a mobile payments app. We’re active in 20 countries for payment.

We invested $40,000 per month at first; now it’s closer $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2017, and our work is ongoing with maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The system was delivered on time and has been meeting our expectations. We’re up to 6 million messages per day. They did a good job of enabling the system to be able to process all of the messages we get. They’re very reliable.

How did Software Service & Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

They do well. I’ve known the project manager for over 12 years and he’s very reliable. They work hard to meet our requirements.

What did you find most impressive about them?

When we have an important client and need something done, we always manage to get the attention we need. The team is small and nimble enough to have an advantage over their competitor with that responsiveness. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t see any areas for improvement.

My advice is to be part of the recruitment process for the technical staff for your projects.

I’m the CEO of Ketl.io. We’re a young company that creates solutions with software based on AI that helps companies manage their documents.

What challenge were you trying to address with Software Service & Innovation?

We specifically wanted to hire software developers in Ukraine to build our web platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We created a web application that allows users to connect and manage their documents. The main feature of the software is that people are able to recognize documents and their content. If someone receives a letter or contract, the system will tell them what it is and will dictate which case it belongs to. The system will suggest the folder in which to save the document.

The team at Software Service & Innovation built the app, focusing on the frontend interface. Another team has also been helping us build AI algorithms.

What is the team composition?

On average, we work with between 5–8 people.

How did you come to work with Software Service & Innovation?

I knew Software Service & Innovation had an office in Ukraine, and I’ve previously worked with their other office. My experience with them was very professional so this seemed like a good option. Also, their cost was very competitive compared to what we were seeing.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent about 100,000 Swiss Francs (approximately $105,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the partnership in May 2019, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Overall, we’ve been very happy with their service. Our team decided to outsource to Ukraine because of the cost. The only downside is sometimes the quality isn’t always on par with what we could find in Switzerland. This was something we knew, but the cost is one-third of what it’d be here.

Generally speaking, 80% of the Software Service & Innovation team has been very, very good. The people we’ve worked with in terms of quality of work were able to provide around 75% of what we would’ve been paying Swiss employees in terms of quality but for one-third of the cost.

How did Software Service & Innovation perform from a project management standpoint?

They weren’t necessarily involved in the project management because we really used them more as an out-staffing service. Most of the project was managed by us and the people we’re in direct contact with are all employees so we manage them every day.

They’re always available when we reach out and always answer quickly. Their team is professional and that’s one thing that isn’t always easy to find.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the main things I’d say is that they’ve now developed quite an expertise in AI, which is very difficult to find in Ukraine. They have really good expertise in admin system infrastructure.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They will help you find people rather quickly who are very qualified. For us, it was great to manage the developers directly. They’re very flexible and very available.

Building a checkout generation platform for multiple countries, connected to different PSP's, warehouses, marketing tools and a custom ticket system. They are building the main app and a customer application to manage orders etc.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We switched from our old platform to the new one in February 2023, everything goes as planned and we see big increase in terms of performance. We're still adding new features and updating current functionalities.

The response is always quick and clear, most deliveries are on time and some may be delayed a bit and others were delivered quicker than planned.

SSI is very professional company which can setup highly skilled development teams in short time.

SSI developers are fully integrated into our scrum teams. They were very fast with onboarding and in short time they were fully productive. SSI is providing both backend (java) and frontend developers (angular).

For now, SSI is poviding 4 developers but we will increase this number during 2022.
