OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with SMB Team?

We needed help with our paid search campaigns and ads — we wanted to increase our Google presence with our paid advertising.
 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SMB Team helped us with Google Ads and PPC. They found out what we were looking for, worked with us to establish a budget, and then created the ad campaigns exactly how we wanted. They built our whole campaign within two weeks, which was really punctual and fast. 

What is the team composition?

There were three people assigned to our project — a sales team member who got us onboarded, an account manager during the work, and, towards the end of the project, I had a person that helped maintain the campaign.

How did you come to work with SMB Team?

We were referred to them through lawyer conferences that we attended. I personally went to their website and asked to have a consultation, and they reached back out to us after that.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent about $60,000, as well as a management fee.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from February–August 2021. Our initial contract was for six months, and we decided to part ways after that so that we could focus on other aspects of our digital marketing like our website and SEO. 
 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We started seeing leads come in almost immediately — within the first week or so — and our marketing dollar was met four times over. We got 7–11 leads per month with only about $6,000 in ad spend. Our cost per lead ended up being $800. 

How did SMB Team perform from a project management standpoint?

They were pretty good at project management — we communicated via Zoom, emails, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What impressed me is that they didn’t just focus on completing the project, but they also taught us about how and why they took each action. You could even do the work internally once the contract is over if the team has the capacity and ability to do so. I was very impressed by that. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I feel like the work fell a bit into a cookie-cutter mold — it seemed that SMB Team used the same approach for us and other law firms. Whenever we recommended a new approach, they weren’t too open to the idea, which made it feel like we weren’t special. SMB Team is obviously good at advertising, but it’s vital to learn about the business before advertising it, and we know our own firm better than anyone — that is the only area of improvement that I would recommend.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

SMB Team is a great company to start PPC advertising with — they can help show you the ropes including how and why the strategies are working. They are a great company to get your business up and out there in your area, depending on how much you are wanting to spend. I think they are a great starter company, and they are great for beginners or boutique firms.

In particular, I would recommend them to companies that don’t have the time or knowledge to manage their Google marketing.
