I’m the marketing director at an interior products and services company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Sky Blue Pictures?

We wanted to showcase some of our products and services through visual storytelling.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Sky Blue Pictures provides full-service video production for us. We initially hired them to create recruitment videos for some of our brands to include in our recruiting efforts.

Jonathan (Managing Owner) had me fill out a questionnaire about the project objectives. Then, we met to discuss the project further and toured our factory space, familiarizing him with our brands and our goals. 

From there, we talked through how the creative components would be achieved in terms of video production. Sky Blue Pictures took the lead in determining these creative components with some guidance from me.

Jonathan then shot the videos; we coordinated for him to come in one day to do a series of interviews with our employees. He also filmed a lot of B-roll throughout the factory and in our stores. 

He took all that footage and edited it into about a 90-second video. He sent me the link for review, and I submitted any revisions or changes I wanted to see. Then, he created the finished product. 

We’ve continued to work with Jonathan following the same process. However, since he’s learned a lot about our business by now, there’s been no need to go back to those initial discussions when we do videos with him. Instead, we focus on the specifics of whatever project we’re trying to complete. Sky Blue Pictures has done about 5–6 videos for us.

What is the team composition?

I just work with Jonathan, though he’s had a few helpers come in to assist him as needed.

How did you come to work with Sky Blue Pictures?

I found him through Thumbtack, a professional resource list.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent about $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We did our first recruiting video in January 2016, and our partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Sky Blue Pictures’ videos have accomplished what we wanted from them. The team’s work has been successful on our company website, YouTube, and social media. 

We get a lot of people saying that they applied to our company specifically because they watched one of the recruitment video Sky Blue Pictures created, which made them feel like our company was somewhere they wanted to work.

How did Sky Blue Pictures perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, they’re very good at project management. Jonathan is great at handling the various pieces that go into creating a video and coming up with the finished product. 

Sky Blue Pictures uses a video-editing tool that allows them to share the link with us. We can then add feedback about very specific points in the video. Other than that, we communicate through phone calls, emails, and occasionally texts. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by Sky Blue Pictures’ creativity and ability to tell a story. Jonathan is a great partner; he’s very conscientious and cares a lot about the story and about shedding light on our business. Sky Blue Pictures is easy to work with and very committed to delivering on the project objectives.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t have any constructive feedback; Jonathan does a really good job. If anything, sometimes we have to wait because he’s pretty busy and has a lot of work he has to get through. That’s not so much an issue as it’s a sign that he’s doing well and his work is in high demand.

I would highly recommend Sky Blue Pictures!
