The experience we've had with Sagan has been much better than the last company we used, and has been less expensive with more support.

Our Managing Partner wanted to hire an associate to support a few key areas in the business: research, content creation and executive support. 

Our team had tried to hire overseas with minimal success. They were overwhelmed with options and did not have the time to establish a process for sourcing and vetting candidates. We knew what we wanted but did not have the bandwidth or expertise to run the process end to end. 

This is where Sagan came in and truly was a catalyst for the entire process. We met with them multiple times throughout the hiring process and their team of experts helped us shape our vague idea of what we needed in a hire into a formal yet expressive job req. They knew what was important to include and exclude so it would attract candidates. 

Key Deliverable 1 was creating a job description which they did perfectly. 

Key deliverable 2 was attracting candidates. It is so easy to post a job to upwork or linkedin but inevitably you become overwhelmed with candidates if you don't have a rigorous vetting process. After we put together a job req the Sagan team made sure they were able to attrract quality candidates. They provided both proactive candidate lists for me to review as well as specific candidates that had expressed interest in my role. What I really appreciated was their novel approach to candidate screening. It is very hard to truly assess someone with just a cover letter. Sagan added on both a video assessment and an english language/typing assessment. Perfect mix of qualitative and quantitative insights. 

Final deliverable was training. Sagan provided both myself and the hire with an avalanche of training. We only took a few and learned so much about how to run this process successful. 

Sagan's key differentiator is a full suite of services. There are so many firms that try to hire talent overseas but they rarely support and educate for the entire process. This is where sagan comes in and shines

Within 48 hours of my job description being posted they found me two strong candidates, one of which ended up being my final hire. Not only did they provide candidates but they went a step further to provide videos with the candidates and various forms of assessments. As a hiring manager it is very easy to see a pile of candidates and have no fair way to assess them. it is not realistic to interview everyone, but you want to get a sense of how they work best. This is where Sagan's assessments are perfect. They recorded short videos that allowed you to get a sense of the candidate without it being overwhelming.

Sagan underpromised and over delivered. They had a very defined process for initially meeting me and helping me find a candidate. It always always clear what the next step was and they always level set on communication timelines. Very often there were multiple people from Sagan in an email thread that made me feel like the entire team was supporting me. They also have a very developed backend for this process. It was not just meet with someone and submit a document of my hiring request, they had a form with reasonable questions that I answered that helped them tailor the process to my needs.

They were also very flexible. At the start of our engagement I had a family emergency and needed to delay the start time of the work. The team was very accomodating which was very appreciated by my family and they could have declined to do so.

Overcommunication! In a good way. Hiring is such a challenge because you don't know where your candidates will come from, you don't know how to vet them. At every step of the journey Sagan made me feel like there was a very clear next step. They were confident in their ability to source someone for me but also made me feel like they would be there if things didn't go exactly the way that I planned 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Sagan Passport could have done differently?

The only area I could think of is to have an offering that is more tailored to individuals vs. businesses but that is more aobut my fit for their business model vs. anything they did wrong.  It seems that their typical customer wants to make many hires, which is better for the sagan business. It probably doesn't mesh well with their model to do a bunch of one offs of hiring but I think there are plenty of entrepreneurs like me who need one maybe two additional helpping hands that Sagan could support
