We specialize in hologram technology, creating holographic experiences for various companies. We also offer a virtual global stage, which is a virtual environment that allows people to beam into the space, even though they’re in a different location.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rubicon Video Services?

We were working on an award show for a client. We needed to make a virtual background with animated assets.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was a virtual stage for an award ceremony. We needed an environment that looked realistic. They also added animated assets to add motion and interesting elements to the show. For that, they used the Unreal Engine.

Other animation pieces included lower-thirds to reveal the award winners and awards, and an animation to reveal different sponsors of the show. The team also ended up creating a logo for the event.

I worked with Mike (COO & CFO) and Isaac (Co-Founder).

How did you come to work with Rubicon Video Services?

We worked with them on another awards show. A client hired us both for the show, and we enjoyed working together. We liked their output, so we knew they were the obvious choice when we were tasked with a similar show.

We worked together from September–November 2020.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our project was recognized worldwide as a unique visual delivery, once we combined the video production and animations from Rubicon with other technologies. We created a state-of-the-art virtual awards, and a reference for many others.

The time of response, the attention to details, the way they brought our vision to life. All the moments of truth for us were impeccable. Rubicon was extremely responsive and provided the right guidance and energy even when wee threw crazy ideas to them.

Super effective. Timely fashion answers, budgets with no surprises, attention to details and responsiveness.

We were going through a rebrand and needed help with producing our video marketing content.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rubicon Video Service created video content to support our brand — they did our hero video and a couple of corporate videos for our products and portfolio.

For each video, they took care of all of the video and sound content. That included building the storylines, picking the songs, and capturing the content using various video cameras and microphones. They then edited everything together and sent us different versions to approve.

We worked with both owners, one of their producers, and a couple of camera and microphone operators. I believe there were 6–7 people there.

How did you come to work with Rubicon Video Service?

It’s a mix of their reputation and PR. I met one of the owners at a PR event, and I appreciated what they had in their portfolio — they did great stuff for C2 Montreal and BMW.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested a little bit over $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around October 2019. We’re still working with Rubicon Video Service.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

There wasn’t an actual metric, but we gauged success by our satisfaction. We were very happy with the content they delivered and used it on our different platforms.

They sent the videos via WeTransfer, and then we published it to our different platforms. Rubicon Video Service was very helpful throughout each stage of the process.

It’s their ability to change. Rubicon's approach to building storylines and improving the quality of the end products is always evolving.

I’m the project manager of IMAQ, a mediation and arbitration company.

We wanted to promote the mediation process among elderly people in the province of Quebec.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided video production services. Before filming the video, they helped us nail down our vision and goals. After that, they led the process from writing the script to rehearsing with the actors.Then they helped me a lot doing the narration because I had to do the voiceover on the video. They also did the filming and editing.

I worked a lot with Mike (COO/CFO & Co-Founder). He had one assistant. There were also a cameraman and a voice recording specialist. There were probably 6-7 in total.

How did you come to work with Rubicon Video Service?

I had the opportunity to work on a project where Mike was involved. I saw the way he worked and he was very professional. When we needed help at the institute, I thought of him. He provided us with a very good proposal. He was very interested as well. We got along with him very well which is why we hired him.

We sent the videos to many homes where elderly people live. We got calls from them after they received the video. The return was very good. It was what we expected, or maybe even a little above. It was a good experience for us.

They’re professional and very easy going. They made everybody feel very comfortable. They weren’t condescending. They were very kind.

My company specializes in coaching and managing artists in order to help them operate as if they were their own label. I help them to move forward and grow, including everything from building a team to reaching out to production teams and studios for partnerships.

They were hired to produce an eight-minute documentary segment on one of the artists I work with. We were in studio recording songs for the new album and wanted to get ahead on content and materials to go along with the release.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We went through discussions at the beginning, planning the production crew and all of the filming sessions, and then they handled everything from there. We were able to go about our normal recording process and they came as scheduled to film that, and then went and developed the final product independently.

I worked with one project manager for the most part, but there were about 6–7 people involved in the shoot.

I’ve been working with their team for a few years, ever since I was originally introduced through one of my artists. They did really great work, and I’ve been referring projects to them ever since.

Our work together began in January 2017 and is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The most significant impact has been the videos that we make for our main video channels, which generates a lot of attention and increased revenue to the artist. When you’re investing in a video, the return on investment is really important, so I really try to gain traction on both tv and the internet, and they have been able to deliver that very consistently. The videos are really great quality and are always very creative.

How did Rubicon Video Service perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered on time very consistently. Their management is incredibly efficient, which can be difficult in shoots because you have so many moving parts. Rubicon Video Service is always extremely prepared and professional throughout all of their work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

All of the work that they do is performed incredibly efficiently. Their level of work stems from a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service. That is the main reason I keep coming back to them again and again.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They employ a lot of younger people, which does contribute to a very creative environment, but I occasionally feel a slight lack of maturity from a few of their staff. It’s just part of the professional learning experience, but I think that it is one thing that they could focus on a little more.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that the communication is well established. Respect their way of doing things and just focus on clarifying what your needs are because as long as you are flexible, they will deliver more than what you pay for.

I’m a business development associate of a transportation safety organization. We write operating systems and standard procedures in line with airport rules for airside safety.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rubicon Video Service?

We needed someone to make marketing materials for us in a short timeframe.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rubicon Video Service designed roll-up banners, brochures, and business cards. They also created a backdrop material to promote our company whenever we have events. They came up with the messaging that was attractive and catchy for marketing purposes. They printed and delivered the materials to us.

We had an initial meeting with Rubicon Video Service where we expressed what we needed and what we were specifically going to use the marketing tools for. We left it to them to come up with the material. They came up with the messaging and designs from scratch. 

Rubicon Video Service also did a very short video that we use to promote our company. They came up with the messaging, the video, the editing, and more. We provided them a few pictures from us, but they also incorporated a lot of their own materials.

I was in touch with three different people at the company. I had a main point of contact. They have other people like designers as well.

It was a very successful project. Part of the work we do is for trade fairs in Brazil. They even translated the brochures they developed, which was very instrumental in reaching out to prospective clients there. 

They exceeded our expectations. Rubicon Video Service delivered very eye-catching material on time and within budget. 

How did Rubicon Video Service perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication was amazing at each and every stage of work. They were transparent and gave us the initial sketches to get feedback from us before they did the final production. We collaborated over email and phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rubicon Video Service was very creative. Marketing is not my background. I gave them very little to work with, and the end result was still impressive. It was very instrumental for our marketing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We could have used some advice at the beginning about what to expect when it comes to materials. For example, the roll-up banner wasn’t printed on the material that I expected; as a result, it isn’t very stable. For their upcoming projects, they should come with more tangible samples of what clients should expect from the end product.

I’m the headmaster of Collège Bourget, a private school with both elementary and high school levels. We’re located in Rigaud, Canada, and we have 350 students.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rubicon Video Service?

Our website was fine, but we didn’t have any professional videos that showed what the school was. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rubicon Video Service provided video production. We had initial discussions on how we wanted to approach the video and they came up with the idea of basing it on emotion and experience instead of a classic corporate campus video. We wanted the video to showcase the experience of being a student at our school. 

They wrote a script and gave me their ideas. We had a collaborative process and they spent 4–5 days on campus going to classes and activities and filming different things. One of their members coordinated the filming with my assistant. Our campus is located in a nice quiet town, and we wanted the environment to be part of it. The filming went on throughout the year, with the filming days being spread out.

I went to their studio in Montreal for the postproduction process to discuss a few minor changes. We had a postproduction meeting two weeks ago, and we’re waiting for the final product now.

They deployed 2–4 people depending on the need. I had two main points of contact, including Jeremy (President, Rubicon Video Service).

Both Rubicon Video Service’s principals used to be students of mine, so they knew what I wanted.

The total cost is $20,000 CAD (approximately $15,036 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Rubicon Video Service in January 2019, and the final product will be delivered in three weeks.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They really did great on the sentimental aspect of the video. I showed it to a few staff members and a lot of them got really emotional. Rubicon Video Service was able to demonstrate what our school is to perfection. The other goal was to have people who didn’t know about our school experience the feeling of being here, and I really think that that’s what we’re accomplishing through the video. We’re really focusing on appealing to our teenage clientele and I believe Rubicon Video Service has done a great job of it.

I don’t see the video accounting for a big improvement in terms of numbers. We have a big reputation already, but it will give us a cooler edge. We’re already full and have a waiting list, but the video will give us a nice advantage.

I’m not really familiar with the technicalities regarding quality, but it was beyond what I expected. The lighting, voices, and everything else was quite detailed. Rubicon Video Service also delivered on time and within budget. 

How did Rubicon Video Service perform from a project management standpoint?

They sent me feedback on what we discussed and what were the next steps right after our meetings. Rubicon Video Service was professional and proactive. If I ever needed something over the weekend, I could contact them through email. We also had in-person meetings and phone calls. The flow of communication was really good throughout the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was in contact with other video production companies a few years ago, and they all had the same corporate angle. Rubicon Video Service’s approach set them apart and they understood what our school was.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re a French school and their script was in English. Having a script in French from the start could’ve been an advantage. The video will be bilingual and we’re translating the English version. It’s not something that really bothers me, but it could make a difference for their other clients.

Rubicon Video Service communicates efficiently with clients and I really liked their initial approach. They’re professional and their portfolio is great. They’re a super dynamic group and are easy to work with, unlike bigger companies. I worked directly with their principals and felt like I was a VIP client.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to create a high end, beautiful, engaging, emotional video/ad that would connect with our audience and would create a an emotional response that they could relate to, which would increase brand awareness within the healthcare community

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

As I am part of the Entertainment community in Montreal, one of my friends had reached out to me about Rubicon and their services and after doing a preliminary search for other vendors, we met with a few and we had a great meeting with them: they had a great vision and understanding of our needs.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

We began with a discovery session, where members of Rubicon met with us at our office and asked us poignant questions about our history, our company, the brand, the audience, the desired outcomes and more. We then met again once pre-production began, so that we were all aligned and made sure we had everything we need to be ready to shoot on the day of shooting.

On the shoot day, Rubicon took care of everything, made us feel comfortable and really listened to our needs and the shoot went great. They then worked on putting all the video together and took the time to review with us and made any modifications we needed. Very thorough and detailed!

Worked with their founders, Jeremy and Mike mostly. Then on set day, they had a few more crew that were great!

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The result of the project was amazing. The final edit looks so good and really hit the mark. It was beyond what we were expecting! We showed it to our boss and colleagues and they all were touched by the video, which is exactly the impact we wanted.

The workflow was very effective. Rubicon was quick to respond to our queries and emails. When they had questions, they would email or call us and vice versa. Very smooth.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

How meticulous they were. They took the time to understand our needs and goals, and even shed light on some points that we didn't think about. They added value in terms of strategy and the concept for the video. Really understood our needs well.

We met at the venue before to prepare the best video plan. It was a challenge because we were recording live music while taking the video. During the day, we could see the results of the recording so we could adjust. We asked for a couple of different montage of the video. The results at the end was perfect. Really glam!
