RKM Architects

We are a small architecture practice that was established in 2010. Our work focuses primarily on single family residential design, small mixed use and commercial, and some multifamily design. Our work has been primarily urban, within Philadelphia. Construction types include renovation, adaptive reuse and new construction.

Our design philosophy embraces a modern aesthetic that is rooted in a sense of place, materiality and light. We believe that craft and attention to detail are critical to bringing humanity to built form and that the collaborative relationships we share with craftsmen lend richness to our design solutions. The variety that exists in this portfolio arises out of a strong collaborative relationship with clients, and a commitment to meeting their varying goals. At this time, our work focuses primarily on delivering a consistent quality of design to modestly scaled projects and varying price points.

We believe that a sustainable approach to design and construction is an inherent part of any successful project. Many of our projects are based upon adaptively reusing abandoned structures, and re-purposing them for new uses. This philosophy is applied at varying scaled, where we reuse salvaged and reclaimed objects and materials in new ways.
