BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of acadeMIX BEATZ, an educational nonprofit. I conduct children’s workshops where I teach school subjects using rhyming, rapping, and rhythm. I also write children’s songs that are academic in nature.

What challenge were you trying to address with RanDesign Media Services?

RanDesign Media made a video for me.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I sent RanDesign Media my video clips of the kids singing, dancing, and rapping. I also gave them some music, my mission statement, and my vision of the intro and outro. From there, we collaboratively made it happen.

What is the team composition?

I just work with Randy (Producer/Director).

How did you come to work with RanDesign Media Services?

I found him online, maybe on Fiverr. Randy responded to my message. After I discussed my vision, he said he’d be happy to accommodate me.

How much have you invested with them?

I was charged $360.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started five weeks ago and finished in three weeks. It was on me to get him everything he needed; otherwise, he’d have finished in a week.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I used the video for a GoFundMe. Not only did I hit my goal, but I also got great feedback from viewers. Some said they would show it to their own children. My son, who does music professionally and is my greatest critic, gave the video a C+, but everyone else said it was awesome.

It’s hard to translate your visions 100%, but Randy did a great job. After he completed the project, I had to go back and ask him to tweak a couple of things, and he accommodated me. Overall, the price was right, and the project turned out great. I’d be pleased to do another video with RanDesign Media in the near future, once COVID-19 is over.

How did RanDesign Media Services perform from a project management standpoint?

We started off with email but moved to communicate through text messages and calls. I can’t translate everything in writing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Randy was patient with me and my ignorance in terms of technology. He had to wait on me a couple of times when I was having technical issues sending him the materials he needed. He even did some troubleshooting to guide me through that process.

He also gave me ideas for content and videos, such as filming using a selfie stick to reduce the video’s bounce and “homemade” quality. I appreciated the little tips and his willingness to work with me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not on his part. Sometimes, I didn’t perfectly get across my vision, and he did something different from what I expected. It was still a good result, and he was open to making changes even after the video was done.  

Any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’re clear with your vision. At the same time, you have to be flexible. Someone who’s technologically inclined is going to bring more to the table than you may have imagined.
