Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

They provided a number of Computer Vision Models that detect and segment specific anatomical objects of interest for a specific procedure. This work involved literature reviews, facilitation and standardization of annotation process, consensus building with surgeon annotators and also write up for publcations.

I’m the CEO of a company providing software services for the retail industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd.?

We needed help with developing proof of concepts for image synthesis and image manipulation. With this system, we wanted to generate new images using automation and machine learning with ultra-realistic outputs. The goal was to produce new images automatically using a custom pipeline.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Quid Sol has helped us create custom pipelines for machine learning, deployed APIs and created proof of concepts for several projects for image synthesis. They have also evaluated existing open source implementations for us to compare results with and at times extended the models to achieve desired results for our application.

What is the team composition?

We work with Manan (Business Development Lead) and Hamid (Co-founder & Machine Learning Lead), although more people are working in the background, and they come and go as needed.

How did you come to work with Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd.?

I found them through Upwork.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around May 2021, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Given that our first project was focused on R&D, we don’t have hard metrics to share. Still, we measured the success of the proof of concept that Quid Sol created during that phase by evaluating how realistic the outputs were — they met our expectations.

As for the second project, we measure Quid Sol’s involvement based on their deliveries and how fast they work. At times, we’ve been very surprised that they’ve been able to get back to us within 1–2 days when we expected them to take at least a week.

We also have hard metrics related to the product itself. For example, one of the modules they created had a response time of around 17 seconds, and they managed to bring it down to less than two seconds. This result is very helpful because it adds to the UX and helps us process more images for less cost. Overall, we’re very happy with their work; that’s why we’ve continued working with them.

How did Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd. perform from a project management standpoint?

We have active communication with Quid Sol on a weekly basis, where we review their output. We also provide them with feedback, either during our weekly calls or on Slack. Additionally, we use a project management tool called Height, where we can log bugs.

Whenever we communicate with Quid Sol, they’re very quick to respond, address issues, and get them fixed. Most of these issues are simple bugs that they quickly resolve, but others are enhancements we need to make rather than bugs, so we’re working on those enhancements continuously.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Quid Sol is very flexible, and they don’t say no to doing things they’ve never done before. Our project is not very typical, so most of the research they’ve done hasn’t been done by others before. Still, they’re very open to spending time navigating uncertain areas. They’re constantly learning and producing new things, and they’re very open to those challenges, which differentiates them from other providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not really. Whenever we feel there’s something to do, we communicate it, and they do it, so we’ve never felt they could have done something better.

I don’t have any particular advice; feel free to contact them! Manan is the best person to talk to because he will understand your project very well.

I'm the founder and CEO of Ki-Mentor, a tech startup company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd?

We wanted to build an MVP of our application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd built the frontend and the backend and deployed the mobile app on our server. They also installed the server and the SSL certificate, created the frontend for the app, and connected multiple ML services. For example, we used IBM Watson Assistant and some cloud functions from other providers, and they secured all the services. Their team also wrote APIs so that we could connect them and use the services together, and in the end, have a mobile application for iOS and Android.

Regarding the process, I provided them with a Click Dummy and use cases. I wrote down what button should do what task, and I gave them chat flows so that they knew which path had to follow which path. In the end, I got documentation from them of how all the APIs work and which parameters fit into the cloud function, and which parameters we get back.

The biggest functionality of the app is the chatbot conversation AI. Users can chat with it by typing in messages or by speaking as we have a speech-to-text component so we can translate language into text. The bot can give answers in written text or give them back with speech. It can also provide information according to each chat flow. There is also sentiment analysis, so the bot analyzes how someone is feeling and can give the person sentiment data. In addition, users can set goals within the app and be marked as completed.

I've worked with four people from their team, including an app designer.

How did you come to work with Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd?

I contacted them via Upwork, and we chose them because they gave me a good offer. They also provided me with a good concept of how they wanted to implement the app. The other thing was that the price was very good, and the whole team was very kind and trustworthy — from the first moment, I felt that I trusted them. 

How much have you invested in them?

We've spent up to €10,000 (approximately $11,000 USD) with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in January 2022, and it is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality has been good; the application looks great, and it does everything it should. Of course, they could improve some UI things because of some bugs, but we had a bug-fixing phase and provided me with a test version of the application where I tested it and wrote down all of the bugs. After that, we had a meeting where I explained what all the bugs were, and they fixed them in about a month. Overall, they took their time to provide us with an app free of bugs.

How did Quid Sol Pvt. Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform well; they've been able to meet all of the timelines, and I am really glad about that. Regarding tools and communication, we've used Upwork and email. We also have weekly meetings via Zoom and Google Meet. In addition to that, we use Google Docs to keep track of our ideas and thoughts.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The trustworthy relationship we have is outstanding; any time there's an issue, they explain things to me. Also, if they can’t do something, they are very honest about it. For example, there was an issue with my German server, which they couldn’t access from Pakistan, where they are located, but they were very honest and upfront about it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could use a project management tool because there were times when timelines weren't as transparent as we would've liked.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear timeline and document every task they should do within certain deadlines. They weren’t using a project management tool, so sometimes, specific tasks were in other sprints rather than what I thought.
