Bayce provides an innovative B2B platform to store and share work in a branded and visually stimulating environment normally found in B2C products. We give the client the tools to own the whole experience both for internal and external users in a B2B platform designed for the B2C users of today.

For what projects/services did your company hire Quantum?

We were looking for a Backend JVM Developer and Architect that could create a Google Drive-like enterprise cloud file storage with advanced user permission management. The main challenge was that the Quantum team was able to figure out the existing system and finished it by the indicated date despite the tight deadline.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to build the entire product from scratch based on an MVP with a broken architecture. Quantum fully delivered on this and were very helpful in helping us make the correct tech decisions, resulting in a product that has not crashed once since its launch - a huge contrast to what we were used to.

We at Bayce believe there is more to a client's work than just a file name and that the presentation of an idea is just as important as the idea itself. Bayce marries these philosophies and provides a platform to showcase client work and projects in a way like never before.

Built on and around the Amazon AWS architecture, Bayce comes with military-grade data encryption levels for security while being cost effective in the marketplace. This also gives us the flexibility to scale and adapt to specific client needs such as data storage locations meeting their geographical and legal requirements.

More technical details: complex access rights – use neo4j and AWS CloudFront security capabilities, complex search – use neo4j FTS (Full-Text Search) in their new version 3.5 for enterprise, minimize load time of assets across the world – integration with CloudFront; The main technologies used were: Kotlin, Neo4J, Spring Boot, AWS, CircleCI

What was the team composition?

From Quantum, we worked with two people - and architect and a backend JVM developer. Or team comprised of other elements as well, and Quantum played a key role in helping us manage the entire tech team efficiently.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Quantum team has created the new version of the web backend of Bayce to store and share users’ work and integrating it with AWS for file storage, web server deployment, etc. Managing CI and CD pipeline. Support for OAuth2 login and SSO via customized identity service.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We use Google Hangouts and Slack for weekly updates, but all project-related work is done in Jira, which is what we use internally. Communication and workflow have been very effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The professionalism and level of organisation in Quantum's processes is very impressive. and aside from being great to work with, they also delivered a very high quality of work usually before the estimated time and never late, and within our budget.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, not at the moment. Everything is being done as expected and delivered on time.

I am a systems architect and integrator for an ad product creation and monetization platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Quantum?

We needed help breaking into big data analytics so that we could assess the different amount of traffic our ads produced. We were looking for new and interesting insights into the advanced statistics of how users interact with ads for our clients. To do this, Quantum built us a pipeline for big data processing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I went to Quantum with a general vision of how the platform should be built based on my own research on how big data analytics platforms usually work and their architecture. I initially discussed this with Quantum’s solutions architect, and as we got into more project details, I was in contact with two Java programmers. They developed a two–stage program in the Amazon EMR to process big data across a Hadoop environment. What they wrote analyzes static raw data in Amazon’s S3 storage on a regular schedule, which we then evaluate in our internal statistics system.

What is the team composition?

Our first contact was with a representative and after that our main points of contact were an infrastructure technician and the general programmer. As needed, I also reached out to Quantum’s Solutions Architect and multiple Java programmers with project details.

How did you come to work with Quantum?

They were suggested to me by a previous colleague who said they were extremely knowledgeable, especially when it came to things in the vein of machine learning and data processing. We were impressed with their successes and they had the benefits of being in the same time–zone and speaking the same language with me. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them March 2017 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We now have our own internal statistics system that is similar to Google Analytics but with access to very low–level statistical reports. We can analyze the behavior of users on different websites and how they engage with our ad placement. We had very few problems throughout the entire project and anything we found Quantum quickly fixed.

How did Quantum perform from a project management standpoint?

We generally used email to communicate and I would set up Skype calls to meet with specialists and their programmers. Even though we are in the same time–zone, our weekends begin on different days but that rarely presented any problems.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We came into this project without any experience processing big data. They were willing to work with us and help make sure we gained that experience. Their professionalism and ability to meet all of our specifications was exceptional.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I could point out. They are very experienced and met all of our expectations.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We came to them with the project outlined and detailed specifications, because of that everything went as expected. Potential customers should have a good plan for a large block of consecutive work so that Quantum can allocate their resources and provide the best scheduling.
