Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the SEO lead and Digital Marketing Manager for a PLM provider to the fashion, retail, and consumer good space. My role is to lead best practice SEM and SEO initiatives, while driving optimized traffic to our digital properties and ultimately, converting users into leads.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Rowe Digital?

We have partnered with Rowe Digital on two different project scopes. The first being an audit process which covered both the content on our website and the technical aspects of the site. We have also partnered on International Baseline reports for our EMEA markets to better understand our competition and gaps in these regions.

What were your goals for this project?

Our initial goal was to increase the keyword ranks within ENG for the US/CA markets for 'Fashion PLM' and 'Retail PLM'. We achieved and have sustained second organic ranks since implementation. We went from positions #10 to #2 in less than 8 weeks.

Describe the project in detail.

We started off really needing a plan to increase our keyword rankings for 2 focus keywords. We met, discussed a strategy and waited for the content and technical audits to be completed. Once delivered, we started on the action items.

What was the team composition?

A project manager, team of link builders, technical lead for report creation and audit creation.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have sustained our organic keywords ranking growth and variations of those targeted keywords are riding the coattails of 'fashion plm' and 'retail plm'. Continued SEM brand visibility, which keeps increasing MoM.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very good. The team is super responsive and goes above and beyond when extra data or information is needed.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Very good. Project Management was very organized and kept the project moving to meet agreed upon deadlines.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not at this time.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rowe Digital?

We worked with them to increase the overall traffic to our directory site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They focused on growing overall traffic through link-building efforts. We started by explaining the value proposition of the site and why consumers would want to use it, and from there Rowe Digital put together the whole plan, including how many links a month and what pages they were going to target.

In addition, they suggested we create some additional pages for them to be able to link to. We gave them pretty much free reign to do as they saw fit and cooperated with them as much as possible.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about an account manager and an SEO strategist from their company over the course of the project, and those roles were filled by a number of different individuals over the years.

How did you come to work with Rowe Digital?

They were recommended to us by someone we knew that had worked with them previously. It seemed like they knew what they were talking about, so we decided to give them a shot.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from May 2018–January 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We started the project with about 40,000 visits a month, and when we ended the engagement last month, we were around 200,000. In that year and a half, they were able to provide nearly five times growth, which we were really pleased with.

How did Rowe Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a good job of communicating and keeping us up to date. They would send weekly email updates and our teams would have monthly calls to go over any outstanding questions or issues that either of us had.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was always relatively easy and low maintenance to work with them, which I appreciated.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re not very good at projecting what kind of performance they are going to be able to deliver, but we never had any problems with the actual results they were able to deliver. In fairness, it’s not the easiest thing to project, but just know that you should take those with a grain of salt.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rowe Digital?

We hired them for SEO efforts. We wanted higher rankings and better backlinks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rowe Digital primarily focuses on backlinking efforts like writing articles and posting them on other sites that are related to ours, which is mostly for increasing page rank. As we go along, we adjust the keyword strategy that we want to use per month.

What is the team composition?

My primary contact is Lindsay (Client Success Manager, Rowe Digital). There are a few other people that have come in and out, but she has been our project manager.

How did you come to work with Rowe Digital?

They were working with the company prior to when I joined.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend approximately $8,000 monthly.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in January 2018 and is currently ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our page rank and backlink usage have gone up considerably since 2018 and just in the time I’ve been here, I’ve seen a significant increase. There has been a consistent trajectory. SEO efforts have been a huge part of our lead generation.

How did Rowe Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re great. They’re extremely responsive; while most of our communication is through email, we also have monthly meetings over the phone to go over any updates and what they’re doing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Backlinking can be a dodgy area, but they use best practices when going about it which is really important to us. They take time to explain things and come to us with issues that they’ve found without us requesting for it. If they notice something, they pass it along which goes above and beyond what the contract states.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing I can think of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’ll do some research with you, but it’s better if you have your topics and keywords alined internally before starting with them.

I’m the executive vice president of marketing at a marketing firm. When I worked with Rowe Digital, I was the vice president of marketing at a technology firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rowe Digital?

I worked with Rowe Digital for a variety of on-page SEO challenges we were facing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with a discovery phase and got the project going with a technical SEO audit to get a baseline understanding of our site. From there, we defined our goals and figured out our benchmark. We did a second statement of work to get them started with on-page SEO, off-page linking strategies and content marketing consulting. They also ran white hat link building efforts and worked to improve our DA. 

What is the team composition?

Kevin was my main point of contact, but he worked with some of our other less technical digital marketing agencies. 

How did you come to work with Rowe Digital?

I knew Kevin (CEO, Rowe Digital) from a past agency and we had a local relationship. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement started in December 2018. Although I don’t work at the organization anymore, their relationship is still ongoing with Rowe Digital.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We definitely saw massive improvements from their work. As hard as it can be, we also saw improvement in our DA in a relatively short period of time. We experienced page ranking and keyword ranking increases. We had very strong results in a reasonable amount of time. 

How did Rowe Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We had monthly meetings and quarterly reviews. Since they were a local business, we had that benefit. Remotely, we communicated through Slack, so that was useful for our workflow. We had Zoom calls, too. There was a bit of turnover in project management as the team grew, but it was handled well since Kevin has a very hands-on approach. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

From my experience in that market, they’re one of the best technical SEO experts that I’ve met. I’ve worked with other companies, but Rowe Digital had the ability to understand competitors and differentiate between the on-site and off-site needs. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The personnel transition presented a bit of a challenge, but they kept providing better people as we went through the project. Overall I was satisfied with their program. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Start earlier than later, because speed is important for your internet footprint.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rowe Digital?

Rulex was an early-stage startup. We needed some general search brand presence as well as visibility in our specific technical domain.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rowe Digital provided link-building. They did a job of month after month building links for us to consistently improve our site traffic. The team also assisted with keyword research, especially when it pertains to competitors. Lastly, they helped us understand how to get the most out of SEO.

What is the team composition?

We worked with Kevin (Founder & CEO, Rowe Digital) for some strategic stuff, but there were several project managers over the years that were our primary contacts. Then they brought people as needed for various tasks.

How did you come to work with Rowe Digital?

They were referred to us by a design firm.

How much have you invested with them?

We had them on retainer for $3,500 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership ran from March 2016 until December 2019. I left the company shortly before that.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The two main metrics were the improved site traffic and the stickiness of site visitors. Rowe Digital’s work also had a dramatic impact on our search placement; we ended up on page one or two for a number of target keywords.

How did Rowe Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

We had regular weekly meetings where they would take us through various analyses through the tools they use.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve worked with several SEO agencies, and Rowe Digital is probably the best I’ve seen. They’re very innovative, disciplined, responsive, and easy to work with as a small company. They focus on white-hat methods and made tweaks on our website with a web developer with no hassle. Their responsiveness and willingness to help out made an impression.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind.

Any advice for potential customers?

Rowe Digital took a lot of initiative. We were very new to this, and they did a good job educating us and helping with our general strategy. They’re particularly good working with smaller companies without managing the client. They’re collaborative and sensitive to our needs, especially with my colleagues who had no experience in SEO.
