Pinnasys provided data annotation services for a commerce platform. The team tagged 10,000 raw text descriptions for core product attributes, drew bounding boxes, mapped items into a taxonomy, and more.
Pinnasys delivered a high-quality data set within the two-month timeline, enabling the client to measure search and visual discovery performance. The team kept communication simple and coordinated well. They were disciplined about taxonomy edge cases, ensuring a genuinely clean data set.

Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
commercetools is the leading enterprise commerce platform, helping global businesses increase revenue and performance across every channel.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Pinnasys to accomplish?
We had been iterating on our AI-powered search and visual discovery algorithms, but we didn't have a reliable, high-quality dataset to actually benchmark them against. Internal testing only gets you so far when you are trying to validate search relevance and visual product matching at enterprise scale, we needed something closer to ground truth.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
We brought Pinnasys on for a focused data annotation pilot. The work covered tagging 10,000 raw text descriptions for core product attributes like brand, material, color, and style, drawing bounding boxes and labeling primary products across 3,000 lifestyle images, and verifying and mapping all 10,000 items into our standardized multi-level e-commerce taxonomy. On top of that, they ran a two-pass human review process to hit a 98% accuracy target on the final dataset, since a benchmark dataset is only useful if it is actually reliable.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The full dataset came together within the two-month timeline, and spot checks on our end confirmed the 98% accuracy target held up. Having a proper gold-standard set gave our ML team something concrete to actually measure search and visual discovery performance against, instead of relying on internal, less rigorous testing. It is already fed into a couple of model iteration cycles since delivery.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
This was a shorter, tighter engagement, so we kept communication simple. A kickoff call to align on labeling standards and taxonomy definitions, then progress updates over email as batches were completed and QA'd. I managed the project from our side, coordinating directly with our ML team who would be using the dataset once it was delivered. Pinnasys ran it with a project coordinator managing batch delivery and a small annotation team handling the labeling work, with a QA lead overseeing the consensus review pass.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What impressed me was how disciplined they were about taxonomy edge cases. E-commerce category mapping gets messy fast when products don't fit neatly into one bucket, and rather than forcing everything into the nearest category, their team flagged ambiguous cases for us to weigh in on directly, which kept the dataset genuinely clean instead of technically complete but inconsistent underneath.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
Image tagging did fall a bit behind the text and taxonomy work initially, since bounding box labeling took more calibration time than expected to get consistent across our lifestyle image set. It caught up well before the final deadline.

"What stood out to me was how well Pinnasys handled the ambiguity in legacy code."

Online Review
Pinnasys developed an AI agent for a frontend-as-a-service (FEaaS) company. The team's tool automated the migration of legacy code into atomic UI components and TypeScript using the client's templates.
Pinnasys's AI agent handled 70% of the manual refactoring work on a typical legacy migration, saving the client a substantial amount of time. The team was highly technical and stayed closely involved throughout the project. Moreover, Pinnasys communicated virtually and via emails and messages.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and position.
I am the VP of AI Strategy of Alokai
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
Alokai (previously Vue Storefront) is a Frontend as Service (FEaaS) for composable commerce, guiding merchants to focus on what matters most - customer experience - as this is what drives the revenue.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Pinnasys to accomplish?
we work with merchants who are often sitting on legacy monolithic frontends, JSP or PHP templates, tangled JavaScript, years of accumulated markup, that need to move onto composable, type-safe architecture without a full rebuild from scratch. Doing that migration manually is slow and expensive for our clients, and we wanted a way to automate a meaningful chunk of the refactoring work rather than relying entirely on manual engineering hours.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Pinnasys built us an AI agent specifically for this: a legacy-to-composable migration agent that parses raw legacy codebase files, breaks the structure down into clean atomic UI components like product cards and navigation bars, refactors that markup into modern TypeScript using our Storefront UI templates, and binds the resulting components directly to our middleware schema. It also ran static analysis on generated code to catch syntax issues before anything reached human review. We were deliberate about keeping production deployment, legacy backend hosting, complex custom business logic, and full visual regression testing out of the agent's hands, those needed to stay under direct engineering control.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The agent now handles somewhere around 70% of the manual refactoring work on a typical legacy migration, which was the target we set going in, and the components it generates map cleanly to our middleware schema without much manual rework needed afterward. We have since run it against a handful of real client codebases, and the time savings on the initial refactoring pass alone has been substantial compared to doing it fully by hand.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Given how technical this build was, our engineering team stayed closely involved throughout, with structured check-ins roughly weekly and shared repos for reviewing generated output as it came in. I oversaw the project from our side, working with two of our senior frontend engineers who validated the agent's output against real client codebases as we went. Pinnasys put an AI agent architect on the build along with two engineers focused on the code generation and data-layer binding logic specifically. Having engineers who understood both agent frameworks and frontend architecture mattered here, this was not a generic automation build.
What was your primary form of communication with Pinnasys?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What stood out to me was how well Pinnasys handled the ambiguity in legacy code. Old monolithic templates are rarely consistent, and the agent's architectural mapping logic held up surprisingly well across different coding styles and structures rather than only working on clean, predictable input.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
One thing worth noting. The early versions of the agent occasionally over-fragmented components, breaking things into pieces that were technically atomic but not practical to maintain. That got tuned within the first few weeks once we gave more feedback on what "clean" actually meant for our use case, but it is worth expecting some calibration early on for a build this specialized.

Pinnasys provided web development and design services for an online learning platform. The team created an onboarding system that captured, verified, and stored student IDs, transcripts, and enrollment forms.
Pinnasys delivered the project, enabling the client to eliminate manual document verification and automate certificate issuance. The team pulled historical student records for compliance requests faster than the client's previous storage. Pinnasys was responsive, timely, and communicative.

Skillshare is an online learning community with thousands of inspiring classes for creative and curious people, on topics including illustration, design, photography, video, freelancing, and more.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Pinnasys to accomplish?
a lot of our student-facing operations were still tangled up in manual processes that didn't match how big our platform had become. Enrollment verification involved staff manually checking transcripts and IDs, course completion certificates were generated and issued by hand, and long-term student record storage, grades, financial aid records, disciplinary files, didn't have a clean, compliant system behind it. It worked when we were smaller, but it wasn't holding up.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Pinnasys handled three main pieces for us. First, digital onboarding: a secure system to capture, verify, and store student IDs, transcripts, and enrollment forms without staff manually processing each one. Second, automated certificate generation, where completion certificates are generated and secured through digital signatures once a student finishes a course, instead of someone on our team creating and sending them individually. Third, a compliant long-term archiving system for student grades, financial aid applications, and disciplinary records that could hold up to whatever audit or compliance need came up down the line.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The build came together over roughly three months. Since rollout, our onboarding team has stepped almost entirely out of manual document verification, and certificate issuance now happens automatically the moment a student completes a course instead of sitting in a queue for staff to process. The archiving system has also made pulling historical student records for compliance requests far faster than digging through our old, less organized storage.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
We handled day-to-day communication over email, with recurring calls roughly every other week to review progress against milestones. I led the project on our side as Senior Director of Data and Engineering, working with one of our data engineers who handled integration on our internal student database. Pinnasys assigned a project lead who managed the overall build, a backend developer who handled the document capture and verification system, and a specialist who set up the certificate generation and digital signature piece specifically.
What was your primary form of communication with Pinnasys?
Virtual Meeting
Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their handling of the certificate security piece was what stood out most to me. Getting digital signatures set up correctly so certificates are genuinely tamper-evident isn't trivial, and their specialist clearly understood the space rather than bolting on a generic e-signature tool and calling it done.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
The one thing worth mentioning is the initial data migration from our legacy storage took longer than expected, mostly because our old records weren't as cleanly structured as we assumed going in. Not really something Pinnasys could've predicted upfront, but worth budgeting extra time for if your existing records are messy.

Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
Nourish is addressing the root cause of the chronic disease crisis through AI-powered, insurance-covered virtual nutrition care.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Pinnasys to accomplish?
At Nourish, our virtual nutrition care model only works if we can actually see a patient's clinical history without making them re-enter it or forcing our team to chase down records by hand. Interoperability was our real bottleneck, no clean way to pull from hospital EHR systems, sync with insurers, or onboard employer accounts without a lot of manual back-and-forth. That is a hard position to be in when your whole pitch is a better patient experience, not more paperwork.
Pinnasys took on building a full healthcare interoperability gateway for us.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Thescope covered bi-directional EHR sync pipelines, a FHIR R4/R5 conversion layer so we could speak a universal standard instead of stitching together one-off integrations per hospital, an automated enrollment gate for our B2B employer accounts, SMART on FHIR identity security using OAuth 2.0, immutable audit logging to stay HIPAA-compliant, and a sandboxed developer portal for external partners. UI styling, hospital contract negotiations, and legacy database migration stayed off the table on purpose, those needed to sit with our internal team and legal.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project stayed on the six-month timeline, with the audit logging and identity layer wrapping early and the EHR sync pipelines taking up most of the remaining time given how much variation exists across different hospital systems' individual EHR setups. Manual data entry during patient onboarding has dropped substantially since launch, and employer enrollment, which used to need manual setup on our end, now runs automatically start to finish. The FHIR layer has also cut down the time it takes us to bring new hospital and insurer connections online compared to our old approach.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Given the compliance stakes, we structured this in sprints with regular architecture reviews over Zoom, roughly every two weeks, and a Jira board dedicated to tracking FHIR mapping specifically since that piece touched the most moving parts. I stayed involved directly as CTO, alongside one of our backend engineers who owned the internal side of the EHR sync. On Pinnasys's end, a solutions architect owned the overall gateway design, two backend engineers handled the FHIR conversion and sync pipelines, and a security engineer built out the SMART on FHIR implementation and audit logging. Having security treated as its own dedicated role, not folded into general backend work, made a real difference on a project like this.
What was your primary form of communication with Pinnasys?

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their depth on FHIR specifically stood out. Plenty of vendors say they've done healthcare interoperability work, but few have actually dealt with how inconsistently different EHR systems implement the standard in practice. Pinnasys clearly had experience, and it spared us a lot of trial and error we would have hit building this ourselves.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
Syncing with certain hospital systems' own integration requirements added some back-and-forth that pushed a couple of sprints past the original estimate, though that had more to do with those external systems' processes than anything on Pinnasys's side. All in, this was a technically rigorous build, and the gateway has held up well in production since going live.

Collaboration began with a thorough review of historical hiring records, job specifications, and talent assessment criteria. Following that evaluation, PinnaSys created a tailored AI candidate screening engine designed to evaluate applicant profiles and surface top talent. Connecting the recruitment software with internal HR applicant databases proceeded smoothly, although normalizing past job descriptions across different regional branches added a few days of data preparation before full deployment.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Shortlisting qualified candidates for specialized risk roles became significantly faster within weeks of rollout. Interview conversion rates improved noticeably, as recruiters spend time engaging top-tier talent rather than reviewing irrelevant resumes. This software release removed hours of administrative resume filtering, allowing talent acquisition specialists to focus on candidate engagement and culture building.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The precision of their recruitment engine impressed senior stakeholders during initial trials. Watching the system rank candidates accurately based on specialized insurance qualifications gave the leadership team immense confidence. Partnering with a software team that builds practical, high-impact HR technology provides a strong advantage in attracting top-tier industry talent.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
Preparing historical resume datasets and standardizing unstructured HR files took longer than anticipated during early setup phases. Cleaning old candidate records required extra hands-on effort before feeding data into the screening model. Providing more detailed guidelines on data formatting prior to kickoff would help HR teams organize legacy files much faster.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Our work together began with a review of editorial workflows, publication archives and market news feeds. Following that evaluation, PinnaSys created a tailored generative AI content engine designed to process financial reports and produce structured draft summaries. Connecting their software into our content management setup went smoothly, though fine-tuning the model to adopt specific financial jargon took a few extra days during early trials.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Drafting speed for daily financial news updates increased by roughly forty percent following launch. Editorial staff publish event summaries much faster now, allowing our media group to cover market developments practically in real time. This deployment removed a lot of repetitive writing work, giving our journalists more time to conduct deep-dive interviews with industry leaders.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Project coordination remained efficient throughout the build, with their team sharing progress reports via brief weekly check-ins. Every deliverable arrived on schedule, allowing us to roll out the editorial tools without disrupting ongoing publishing deadlines. Their engineers answered technical questions quickly, providing helpful guidance whenever our web developers had queries about server API connections.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The quality and coherence of their generative AI solution have impressed our editorial directors right away. Watching the system turn raw financial disclosures into structured, readable article drafts in seconds gave us total confidence in the software. Partnering with an engineering team that builds practical, high-precision content generation tools gives our publishing house a distinct advantage.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
One challenge we noticed early on is that generative AI models can occasionally produce minor factual inconsistencies or awkward phrasing when handling complex financial metrics. If financial reports contain uncommon terms, draft text can vary in quality, meaning human editors must carefully review every piece before publication. Implementing stricter context guardrails during initial training would reduce the need for manual edits.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and position.
I am the Co-Founder of Exowatt
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
Exowatt is a next generation renewable energy company offering commercial and industrial customers a modular full-stack energy solution that can provide dispatchable power and heat for up to 24 hours per day, specifically designed to meet the needs of energy-intensive applications such as data centers.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Pinnasys to accomplish?
Exowatt's whole model depends on our systems staying online, we are powering 24/7 AI data centers off-grid, so any unplanned downtime on our end has real consequences for the customers relying on us. Up until this engagement, our team was monitoring component health mostly reactively. We'd catch degradation in heat systems or battery storage after it started affecting output, not before, and that's not good enough when you are promising dispatchable power around the clock.
We brought in Pinnasys to build predictive decision models that could get ahead of that.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
Their work focused on machine learning models trained on our continuous lens tracking data, heat degradation patterns, and battery storage metrics, aimed at predicting component failures before they actually caused a power loss. They also built out some AI recommendation logic to help our operations team prioritize maintenance, and a conversational AI layer internally so our engineers could query system health in plain language instead of digging through raw data dashboards.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The engagement ran about four months, most of it spent getting the models trained properly on our real operational data before we trusted any of it in a live setting. Since deployment, we have caught early signs of battery degradation on multiple units before they affected output, and our maintenance team is now acting on predictive alerts instead of waiting for something to visibly fail. It's early days for a full uptime metric, but the shift from reactive to predictive maintenance alone has been a meaningful operational change for us.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
We kept things lean, weekly syncs over Google Meet, plus a shared Slack channel for anything urgent given the nature of the work. As co-founder, I was directly involved throughout, along with one of our lead hardware engineers who understood the sensor data best. Pinnasys had a machine learning engineer leading model development and a solutions consultant who helped translate our raw operational data into something the models could actually be trained on effectively.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What impressed me was how much time Pinnasys spent understanding the physical side of our system before writing a single line of model code. This isn't a typical SaaS dataset, it's continuous sensor data tied to physical hardware degrading in real conditions, and they didn't try to force a generic ML approach onto that. Their engineer asked genuinely sharp questions about how our lens tracking and thermal systems actually behave.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
The early model iterations were a bit conservative, flagging potential failures more often than necessary, which meant some unnecessary maintenance checks early on. They tuned it down within a few weeks once we had more real-world data feeding back in, but it's worth expecting some calibration time upfront. Overall, this was a genuinely technical, well-executed engagement for a use case that isn't exactly plug-and-play.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The predictive capability of their custom machine learning software stood out immediately. Watching the system crunch complex real estate dataset trends into accurate yield forecasts in seconds gave us tremendous confidence. It is rare to find a technical partner that understands both financial modeling and soft market dynamics so well.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Pinnasys could have done differently?
Whenever our team requested adjustments to valuation metrics mid-way, the algorithm setup grew considerably more complex. Modifying the data inputs demanded additional calibration cycles that slightly extended our testing phase. Having a clearer protocol for scope adjustments would make handling technical changes much smoother when requirements shift.
