What challenge were you trying to address with Peak Sales Recruiting?

We’ve had a hard time finding sales candidates in general, but specifically ones with trucking experience. Peak Sales helps us find specialized candidates with the right experience.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We wrote the job description, traits, and skills we were looking for — kind of a criteria scorecard for candidates. Then, Peak Sales went out to talk to people that were currently employed about our opportunity. If the candidate was interested, then Peak Sales set up interviews, but not until they had found 4–5 people so we could knock them out back-to-back.

We were looking to specifically for one candidate with 2–3 years of sales experience and knowledge in the trucking industry, and another senior candidate with five-plus years of experience.

How did you come to work with Peak Sales Recruiting?

We found them through online research.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since October 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They brought us around eight candidates for the junior role and five for the senior role, but we felt that the senior candidates didn’t quite meet the scorecard, as their experience wasn’t trucking specific. They were more from the carrier sales field, which has a different buyer.

We were able to hire two people within a month and a half. They integrated into our staff smoothly and hit the ground running, which had been hard for us in the past because of how specific our industry is.

How did Peak Sales Recruiting perform from a project management standpoint?

The only challenge we had with them on the project management side was with the senior role. We pushed back in the beginning, saying that we didn’t think the candidates fit our described profile, but they urged us to take the phone screenings or interview all of them, and we met them in the middle with the phone screens. We still gave them more feedback, as, after the screenings, we still felt that they didn’t match our profile. Peak Sales continued to push us to choose someone from that batch, though, which didn’t work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They give a great experience to the candidate. The people we’ve hired through them have really enjoyed the process. There’s been a good level of communication, and they catered to the candidates, which we wanted. It was a seamless handoff. Peak Sales nailed it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing besides what I described in Project Management.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We didn’t have the senior role mapped out as well as we should have, which led to unclear expectations. Be sure to understand the role you’re looking for from the start.
