Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m CTO at a Technology Company. We’re a Norwegian SaaS company that provides certification services for companies. Our service is used when companies need to provide evidence to an auditor or comply with regulations.

It is especially useful for companies with suppliers in the supply chain and allows companies to distribute forms and requests to suppliers to collect compliance data.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Palark?

When we started the company, we were only two people, and I was handling the DevOps infrastructure and operations of the solution. This was overwhelming, and we weren’t professional. We were looking for DevOps as a service provider.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Palark provides both DevOps and IT services. We already have a development team in Poland, and I don’t want them to worry about DevOps, build pipelines, deployment, infrastructure, or security. I just want them to write code and push it. My idea was to find a provider that would help us with all the other stuff, and Palark has managed to do that.

They've helped us with security. We got our ISO certification last year and spent another year before that preparing and implementing all the controls required for ISO 27000. Palark helped us a lot during that process. We needed to implement the controls in the DevOps pipelines, infrastructure, and cloud, and they’ve done that.

What is the team composition?

I’ve been in contact with the founder and the project manager. I’m also in contact with the team leads.

How did you come to work with Palark?

I found them through a Google search. I looked at their website, which has quite detailed information about the services they provide. I created a list of requirements for managing infrastructure and security. Then, we evaluated different providers, both Norwegian and international. From that process, we ended up with a contract with Palark. We were convinced by the services they provided and the price they indicated.

We’ve spent between €200,000–€1 million

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2022, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Palark has helped us pass the ISO 27000 certification and reduce costs. We’ve moved from Azure-managed services to cloud-native services, and they have a great setup to monitor capacity and reduce resources. We’ve saved around 40% of our cloud costs.

Additionally, we have 24/7 monitoring for the services, and the team responds right away and escalates issues. Our availability is now 99.9%, and we don’t have any major accidents anymore.

How did Palark perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great. They have a very transparent ticket system. We always meet weekly to plan their everyday activities. They meet deadlines and are very transparent. They do more than I expect, and they’re very productive.

They use their own ticketing system, and we have access to it. We’re always in touch on Slack. We have a separate channel, and I have contact with their engineers through Slack as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I didn’t expect them to help us with security. Usually, companies ask for more money for that. I’m amazed that they’re not greedy. They don’t try to bleed us dry. They’re also very flexible when it comes to measuring capacity. They helped us pass the ISO certification, and they were present during the audit. That was the most surprising.

No, there aren’t any.

Kubernetes infrastructure audit and review of findings. Palark performed a detailed audit and presented the results in a practical, straightforward way. They did not give vague technical recommendations — they highlighted specific issues, explained why they mattered, described their impact, and proposed clear ways to fix them.
Remediation plan and migration. Palark quickly prepared a remediation plan, deployed a new environment, and carried out a step-by-step migration to it. The migration was completed smoothly, without downtime or service degradation.
Ongoing support and improvement. After the migration, Palark continued to support and improve the Kubernetes infrastructure. Being a startup, we desperately needed numerous technologies and best practices to run our SaaS successfully, yet we lacked in-house engineers and core competency for these tasks. We had Kubernetes running but it was not production-grade to fulfil market expectations. Our apps needed refactoring to run in Kubernetes efficiently and reliably. Our developers could not release software updates in numerous environments quickly.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to launch the Kubernetes-based production for our SaaS and it proved to be reliable. We got a backup cluster that can be used in case our main cloud provider’s region becomes unavailable. Our main application has become cloud-native, and software updates are now promptly deployed to all required customers with a one-click button.

The efficient CI/CD introduced by Palark enabled us to significantly increase the development team size. Palark also assisted in passing our SOC 2 certification by implementing the required security tasks.

The pace and quality of the DevOps tasks rendered by Palark were perfectly aligned with our business needs and overall growth. For example, our software in production was ready to meet the customers’ demand, our CI/CD was ready for a growing developers team, etc. Our ongoing communication with Palark in Slack and via regular video calls helped us to stay on the same page and be fully informed regarding our current tasks, their actual status and future plans

While we’ve been using Microsoft SQL Server in our apps, we needed specialized DBA assistance for those matters, which turned out to be out of Palark's scope. If they had offered such a service, we could benefit from it, too.
