What challenge were you trying to address with Pacific IQ?

We needed web design support to create a direct-to-consumer website from scratch on Shopify. Our company was going through a rebranding process and needed to incorporate a new design aesthetic into our site while enabling a consumer CRM with a reviewing option. Our goal was to create a branded site and online presence, enabling direct-to-consumer sales. 

Our goal was also to create an integrated marketing ecosystem to get first-party consumer data, build a relationship with our consumers, and optimize our marketing efforts with the site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pacific IQ has worked with three key partners of our company, including our parent company's finance and operations department, our creative agency, and our design agency. Initially, Pacific IQ defined the site's scope and key components based on what the brand needed to communicate. The team has defined the site sections, number of pages, and showcased products. 

Pacific IQ has defined add-on apps and capabilities complementary to the site's Shopify infrastructure, including Klaviyo for CRM and Okendo for reviews. Sean (Co-Founder) has recommended a suite of capabilities to build on the site. Pacific IQ has met with our operations and finance department to define what was needed to create a connection to a fully automated order and processing system. 

After the initial phase, Pacific IQ has designed our site, taking our new branding identity and assets provided by our design agency. Bess (Co-Founder & Creative Director) has partnered with our creative agency to create a web design consistent with our new branding. Pacific IQ uses Figma to collaborate with our design and creative agencies, who have helped me review the design before moving to development. 

Pacific IQ also uses a tool to create videos when we're working through functional questions to create videos explaining their intention. The team has been responsible for our site's backend development and interface design. Pacific IQ has successfully launched our site and works on ongoing technical support as needed. 

What is the team composition?

Initially, we worked with Bess, who managed the site's design and aesthetic, and Sean led technical development. As we moved towards launch, Pacific IQ has added a third teammate who provides ongoing technical support.

How did you come to work with Pacific IQ?

We contacted Pacific IQ through a referral from a colleague.
How much have you invested with them?

We've spent $75,000 on the initial site design, and we now have an ongoing retainer fee with Pacific IQ.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Pacific IQ in September 2023, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Pacific IQ successfully launched our website around a month ago without any technical issues. It took a couple of weeks before we ironed out all the automation, but it had nothing to do with Pacific IQ's capabilities. We've dealt with complex legal and regulatory issues involving our brand, and the team has worked through all those details. In the subsequent month of our site's launch, we ramped up with all of the site's direct-to-consumer capabilities, which are live and active. 

The site's traffic and conversion are a result of how much media we invest in. We've just started investing in paid media to drive web traffic; the results remain to be seen. Pacific IQ has worked excellently in the work they're responsible for.

How did Pacific IQ perform from a project management standpoint?

Pacific IQ has met an important deadline for us since we needed the site active for a significant brand activation by the end of April 2024. We had made a substantial investment in this PR event, and Pacific IQ met that deadline effectively. Pacific IQ communicates effectively with us and stays within budget. We meet every week for half an hour in a standing meeting.

We generally communicate over email and collaborate on platforms such as Google Docs and Figma to track specific activities along the way. One of the most important aspects to keep the project moving is our weekly meetings; this consistent engagement has been critical.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

The partnership between Bess and Sean is excellent. Their expertise and capabilities complement each other, and both have done an outstanding job delivering what we need. I've rarely worked with a more collaborative team and arrived at an outcome that met our needs so fully. With extremely lean resources, Bess and Sean have brought the technical and design expertise we needed, being incredibly collaborative and effective.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Pacific IQ's biggest strength is their high level of personal customer engagement in developing and launching our site. Additionally, the team's Shopify expertise, efficiency, and affordability are impressive. Pacific IQ is exactly what we needed, considering the size of our business and desired accomplishments. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't find a gap in our project. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I highly recommend working with Pacific IQ. I see them as a smaller but very agile collaborative team that is especially suited for direct-to-consumer companies with an e-commerce focus. If I have a colleague looking to create a site from scratch, I wholeheartedly recommend Pacific IQ.

The project kicked off with a comprehensive CRO Audit, setting the stage for what Pacific IQ refers to as the "discovery phase" during which they delve deep into researching our customer base and analysing competitors. Building upon these insights, the design phase commenced, with collaborative engagements between our team and Pacific IQ's design experts resulting in multiple iterations until we achieved utmost satisfaction with the end product.\

Subsequently, Pacific IQ's skilled engineering team transformed our finalized design into a tailor-made theme, culminating in a seamless transition to the live environment, expertly facilitated by Pacific IQ to guarantee a smooth launch.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Over time, the results of the new website manifested in a notable surge in both conversion rate and average order value. The meticulous efforts invested in revamping the site yielded tangible improvements, effectively capturing a higher percentage of visitors and driving them towards successful conversions. Simultaneously, the average value of each order experienced a positive upswing, highlighting the enhanced effectiveness of the site in maximising customer engagement and generating increased revenue.

Pacific IQ's project management approach is truly exceptional. Throughout the majority of the project, our primary contacts were none other than Sean or Bess, the owners themselves. Acting as the main point of contact, they skillfully allocate and oversee the other team members involved in our project. Impressively, all deadlines were not only met but even surpassed in some cases. 

Moreover, Pacific IQ's adeptness at gently reminding us when they required certain items from our end to adhere to the schedule further underscored their commitment to seamless project execution.
