I had the idea of an app that I designed, and I needed a development company within a certain budget.

What was the scope of their involvement?

OptiSol has given me a lot of advice on hosting and maintaining the app. Even during the development of the app, they advised the best options of how to program it and how it will be hosted, including the features I wanted to add. They advised on the involvement of the hosting costs for each feature and advised the best way they would go about developing those. They would advise different ways of developing the features I wanted so I'd still get the same results with a better design.

The great thing about OptiSol is they're happy to offer a lot of advice free of charge. I'm a novice, and I wanted to design it myself, which saved me a lot of money. They were happy to take my designs and make suggestions for improvements. They were happy to redesign a design I had done and show it to me to see if I was happy with it. They would do that free of charge, as well. They were very happy to accommodate me with the lack of knowledge I have.

I did a lot of research using Fiverr and People Per Hour. I put out a job on People Per Hour. OptiSol weren't the cheapest, but they had great reviews. I contacted a few companies and even their proposal was better laid out and more professional.

We began working with OptiSol in the end of April 2015 and have continued working with them to present day.

How did OptiSol Business Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Really well, actually. Since they are based in China and India, and I'm based in the UK, I thought it was going to be a bit of a challenge. We use Skype, email, and any other forms of connection that they advise. At times, we use Envision for the prototyping. I can ask them any question and they're at the other end every time. The line of communication with them is probably just as good as if I had a project manager here in town. That's something I was really impressed with, which is one of the reasons I stay with them and keep getting work done through them. They're very professional.

What did you find most impressive about OptiSol Business Solutions?

It's the project management part, especially when you're working remotely from your contractor. That is the bit that sticks out the best. I can't fault them from project management, and I think that's a big sales point for them. You shouldn't be afraid to outsource abroad any of your work, especially if you have a company like OptiSol.

Are there any areas OptiSol Business Solutions could improve?

So far, I haven't really encountered any problems. I can't fault them yet. Hopefully, there won't be any faults for the remainder of the time I stay with them.

We're an online software service provider. We allow small business venues and independent shops to create an account on our system and interact with their customers. I'm the owner.

OptiSol built and completed the mobile app using native Android software. The actual cloud-based platform was done in AngularJS and Laravel PHP. OptiSol had a lot of knowledge and experience in building similar applications.

We used a freelance software based in the UK called PeoplePerHour where you can post job requests for freelancers or businesses. We posted a request for proposal, and there were quite a few businesses and freelancers that responded. Although OptiSol wasn’t the cheapest option, they came back with the most professional and detailed response.

I would give a ballpark of around 10,000 pounds ($12,500).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with OptiSol in February 2015. The engagement is ongoing.

How did OptiSol Business Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

At first, excellent. Over time our project manager changed, and I don't think they handled that very well. I felt like we had to double our efforts, re-explain everything, and go back to the drawing board. I'm not sure what happened internally, and there was no way of managing that locally from our perspective.

What did you find most impressive about OptiSol Business Solutions?

I've worked with freelancers before, and I have worked with another development team in India. They're very organized, honest and trustworthy. When they say they'll do something, they do it. I do enjoy working with them; they're like an extension of our team.

I think they could provide more feedback. I would like OptiSol to give updates on a regular basis and report back with details of what was done, what needs to be done and by when. One of the key issues is deadlines. I think that's the only thing that needs improvement.

iLookin is an online community with a means of self-help and personal development. Once a person subscribes to our website, they have access to many different modules that guide them through their personal development and self-esteem. Our website includes a journal for writing, a community forum, and some resources like eBooks and such. I am the founder and CEO.

Our website is imperative, so we worked with OptiSol to build the site in a way that we could adjust certain things.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

OptiSol put together the website themselves, piece by piece. We wanted the website to be custom-coded to meet our standards so we couldn’t just use WordPress. We coded the entire website using JavaScript and PhotoShop. We were very pleased with the results. The coding was tricky in the beginning because we had to put all the right pieces together to create the right content. OptiSol worked on several different frameworks and APIs [application programming interfaces]. They custom-coded both an administrative panel for us as well as the client side panel, which is what the actual individual sees when they log in. Now we can adjust everything on our side that needs to be seen on the user side, which is very useful.

How did you come to work with OptiSol Business Solutions?

We had a very low budget of $20,000. With that budget, we decided not to go for an American developer and instead look for alternatives. I put out an ad on Craigslist and went on LinkedIn. We engaged with about 40 other developers. OptiSol initially provided the best price which I thought was going to be the only factor, but they ended up doing stellar work for the amount that we were paying them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with OptiSol from August 2015 to July 2016. The project is completed, but there are still adjustments that they make based on what we need, to make sure subscribers are set up in the right manner and that payments are processed the right way. The engagement has been ongoing, but mostly the project is finished.

We did get a couple of subscribers. It's been very slow to start, but that's normal with any start-up.

They did very well. OptiSol shared a lot of the sketches and kept us updated on all the very complicated procedures that they went through. They were very friendly in keeping us informed.

They are very efficient in the sense that when we needed something done, it was done within a couple of days. They also shared a lot of their research. The most important parts were the friendly relationship and the price. The pricing was phenomenal considering the amount of work they had to do.

They didn't give much input as to how the website was developed. We had to do a lot of work on our end to make sure that it was done correctly. It would have been nice if we had known a little bit more about what they were going to be doing before they did it.

• Extended Training and Support: While OptiSol Business Solutions provided training during the deployment phase, expanding the training program to include ongoing support and additional training sessions post-deployment could have further boosted user adoption and proficiency. This would have ensured that our team members had continued access to resources and assistance when needed. 

The above said minor suggestions should not overshadow the exceptional work and success achieved by OptiSol Business Solutions. Their expertise, professionalism, and dedication have been exemplary, and I would highly recommend their services to others seeking similar IT solutions.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The Optisol team has been great at documenting the timeline of the project and meeting deadlines. Their documentation of the project has been second to none. I have been developing systems for almost 40-years and can say their team's ability to document and stay on schedule has been as good as I have seen.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We have a daily team meeting in the evening US time -- morning for them. We discuss what they are working on, any issues, and any new features we may need. They are very responsive and able to shift focus quickly as we have needed it for business reasons.
