My name is Ava Swan and I am an independent musician who writes indie/folk/pop music.

For what projects/services did your company hire Olam Films, and what were your goals?

I hired Olam Films to help create a music video for my upcoming single, 'Birthday'. In today's digital world, nearly all commercially-successful music is paired with high-quality visual assets. I knew that Ben could help me create a visually-striking video that would bolster my music's release and promotion, so I decided to work with Olam.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have worked with Ben a number of times over the last few years, and have had the privilege of witnessing his evolution into a highly skilled and successful filmmaker. In my mind, there is no question of who I would trust to create high-quality, visually stunning media for my music.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

First, Ben and I met over the phone to discuss my concept for the music video. He listened closely, making a detailed shot list to ensure that we captured everything we wanted. We met again before filming to ensure that we were fully prepared with all of our materials and a rough schedule for filming. On the filming day proper, we worked efficiently to capture the video vision. Ben was a kind and clear communicator, a patient director, and a fun pal on set. It was a total joy.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

In post-production, Ben continually sent me edits of the video, asking for feedback and tweaking the video as I requested. He was always patient and humble about the editing process.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I have not released this video yet, but I am personally very thrilled with the work and can't wait to share it around. This is itself is a metric of success, as I'm very picky about my visual content and only share things that I truly love.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Ben and I communicated through email and messaging platforms. He was always prompt to respond and respectful in his communication.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think Ben's greatest strength lies in his visual storytelling. While we were filming, there were multiple instances where I was in front of the camera doubting the shot, but would be blown away when I watched the playback. They frame their shots very tastefully, and when they edit multiple together, the result is truly remarkable.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wish that we would have talked about the editing/feedback process in advance, agreeing upon a reasonable amount of editing rounds to undergo. This is also on me- I should have thought to communicate about this up front.
