I’m the CEO of a digital agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with NOW CFO?

Although we have an internal full-time controller, we had some accounting needs that were more than she could handle. So, we decided to outsource to get a better variety of help.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

We meet on several occasions. They take a look at our accounts, audit our books internally, and identify potential areas for improvement. They also help us understand how to create a better financial forecast for our agency in the long term.

What is the team composition? 

We met with David (CEO, NOW CRO) who supplied an accountant. That person comes in for a full day once a week and answers any questions as they come up.

How did you come to work with NOW CFO?

David and I are both in the Entrepreneurs Organization, so I knew about his company. We did consider two other options but decided that NOW CFO would be the better deal from a pricing and service perspective.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $50,000 per year.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve worked with them since February 2015.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been instrumental in helping us understand our cash flow and forecasting. Not to mention, they provide insight as to where we need to be on a monthly basis so that we’re comfortable with our employees and are maintaining a net profit.

They’ve also saved us time. The fact that they’re only with us once a week yet are getting the same job done as when we had someone full-time shows their value.

How did NOW CFO perform from a project management standpoint?

We just have our account rep who manages her time wisely.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very accurate in what they do. If they make a mistake, they’ve been stellar about fixing it without charging us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My only comment would be that they could have more proactive senior involvement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?
 
If you’re an agency under $5 million in annual revenue, NOW CFO would be a good fit. They provide cost-savings and have the right people to ensure that your cash flow is in a decent position.
