I’m the owner of a small childcare business and the president of a nonprofit organization.

What challenge were you trying to address with Neptune Accounting?

I hired them for tax preparation.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Neptune does tax preparation for my business. First, I drop off my information at their office. They prepare the documents and then file my taxes for me. The team also files my personal taxes and those of the nonprofit I work for. 

What is the team composition?

I mostly work with Bryan (Owner & CPA), though I know he has a receptionist, and sometimes he brings in assistants who help him. 

How did you come to work with Neptune Accounting?

They were a personal referral through another business owner in my field using their services. Since I heard other providers had a good experience with them, I contacted Neptune and connected with Bryan over the phone. They were familiar with my industry, which is rare because it’s difficult to find an accountant that understands the ins and outs of a family childcare business run from home; that was one of the reasons why I went with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We pay an annual fee of around $300. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2017, and our partnership is ongoing. Although ours is an annual engagement, I reach out to him if I have questions throughout the year. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Neptune’s work is accurate and meets my expectations. Since working with them, I haven’t been audited and usually get a tax refund, so I’m satisfied with their services. Moreover, their prices are reasonable, and they’re always willing to answer my questions throughout the year to prepare for filing my taxes. 

How did Neptune Accounting perform from a project management standpoint?

The team always delivers on time. We use phone and email to communicate, and they’re very responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with Neptune’s expertise with small family childcare businesses, which is a big deal to me. Moreover, they have a friendly and responsive approach. The team is very helpful; it’s rare to find a provider with this level of expertise whose accounting team is willing to answer questions without sending me a bill every time I call them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they need to improve — they always do a good job. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would suggest making sure you have all your information together for Neptune. Ask them if you’re unsure what you need, and they can give you a tax preparation packet.
